  1. I'm torn. I loved Percy's facial expressions as Bobby talked, even if he seemed to agree. But Coach seems like something WCW would come up with around this time.
  2. At least they have an excuse now to let Andre use some kind of support to walk. Had to be hard on the guy.
  3. This was far too long, as mentioned above. Cut about 2/3 of it and it works way better.
  4. I think it was after they had beaten up on Ricky with the boot. Either way, murdoch is still a good promo and I am liking this angle in comparison to most of WCW at this point.
  5. I thought Luger did a better job of getting himself over here than I've seen him do anytime in 1990 or 91. Really good stuff.
  6. Heyman was getting a raise right? And a commendation for valor?
  7. This was really, really good for the time it got. Shame the booking cut it way too short.
  8. Where to start? This definitely was an upgrade over all but the Pillman/Horsemen tag in terms of action. Crowd was huge for it. Imagine if it had been for the Steiner's belts, you know, the WCW ones these fans care about. Question 1: Why do the fans in Atlanta give the first 1/64th of a fuck about Japanese tag belts? Question 2: How is it Scott understands what a hot tag is supposed to work when he's a babyface like this and not when he's the heel in Japan? Question 3: Where are you getting your info from JR? If there is a leader of this team it's Chono. Seven days of the week and any you might make up. Moving on, Scott with one of the most misjudged top rope moves in a big match of all time with that attempted break-up of the STF. Finish is fine, and I'm all for seeing Dick Murdoch come in and punch the crap out of everything that moves. But this is what you had to resort to as far as challengers to the Steiners? How long is this conceivably going to last given the age of Murdoch and Slater? Are there other, younger tag teams on the horizon that will be built up for the end of this feud? Recent history suggests no. The fact that this is the least of WCW's messes at the time says a ton.
  9. The toned down version of Johnny B. Badd is far easier to see going somewhere. Yeah, he still looks like an effeminate heel, but you could actually buy him as Adrian Street meeting Little Richard a little bit here, unlike the first time. Pepa and Spinderella were a complete waste. I have to say I respect their acting chops for their little pretend PN News isn't completely awful routine. And my recollection is that PN News was awful in the ring from listening to Parv and Chad go through old WCW PPVs.
  10. This didn't suck. I mean what we saw of it, anyway. And by the standards of the last month of WCW, that inherently makes it good?
  11. The Robin Leach factor was pretty good by WCW standards at the time. Man, I got more of a kick out of Fly's post back up there than I did this segment though. Well-played sir.
  12. Waltman in the early 90s looks like a can't miss worker anywhere he goes. Seriously amazing.
  13. I found Heyman's smashing of the phone over Hervey's head to be cathartic. In a sea of awful Dusty nonsense, we finally get a shining moment of heroism. From Paul E. And since J.R. and Tony are so shocked and appalled by the violence, there is a slow-mo replay. I liked this more. Probably going to Hell, but it's so worth it. And did it look to anyone else like Paul E. didn't take as much off of that shot as he could have? Also, pleasant.
  14. Ugh. THIS is how we kick off Clash? I am by no means a fan of Kevin Nash, but this is so far beneath him even as young as he is here.
  15. I liked this match as well and thought it was the right match for the circumstances. Honaga trying to match up to Liger and missing the dive completely was awesome both in concept and execution. Did anyone else get the "master of the Diamond Cutter" vibe off of how many ways Honaga has gotten his lariat/neckbreaker deal in this series? I liked how Liger was ready for all of Honaga's shit early too, skinning the cat, rolling him up when he went for the mask ripping. It made more sense that Honaga would keep it more on the level when all of his heel bullshit wasn't working. I dig the baseball slide-into-sunset flip deal too, very interesting take on the move. It kind of ties into the way Honaga overcomes his lack of athleticism compared to other juniors. He's always finding ways to even the playing field, Liger was ahead of the game on his big one (cheating) and didn't go overboard, so Liger got the win.
  16. Great battle between two bulls. Williams really makes Bam Bam look like a monster and Bam Bam makes you believe it just as much.
  17. Way better match here, but the finish is ten times worse. Love ya Dust, but damn did you just destroy any good that was going on in WCW in 1991.
  18. Yeah, the doc she does not look like it's something she is at all happy about. Which they try to gloss over with a glitzy montage of Ric/Charlotte clips back and forth.
  19. Savage getting one over on Jake due to "accidentally" hitting Elizabeth is sure a nice heelish way to go. The Harts are on their way out it looks like. Rude vs. Windham is a great MSG match.
  20. Dundee isn't gonna be too happy, even if it didn't seem like Lawler went out of this way to do anything bad to him there. Good to see the MX getting some momentum built back up.
  21. Borne wrestling as half a clown would have been a sight to see. Good to see Jacques getting a big win.
  22. I liked that particular line, thought it was pretty damn clever. My recollection is he even catches his "mistake" afterwards. I also loved the backpedaling. Lawler destroying 2 schmucks who happen to be allied with Embry is a great way to let everyone know the King is back.
  23. Look, here's the thing. With all the absolute trash on WCW TV at this point in time, I'm willing to accept something even passable (like this) as a huge step up. They didn't even go off on some useless tangent or show how flimsy/breakable the merchandise was inadvertently. It's a big win if you ask me.
  24. Yeah, I'm sure there's a town out there that named itself "Ghost Town." Seems like it'd really bring in the settlers. WCW is getting shockingly bad.
