USWA Texas is even more reliant than Memphis side on the traditional Memphis nonsense. Must have something to do with being on ESPN and having to tone down the violence/no blood. Either way, great work that gets drowned out (again) by shit booking to continue the feud.

[1991-04-13-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair vs Brian Pillman
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
I don't worry about whether I think the 90 match or this one are better. I think they are both incredible and wish they had made Pillman a big time challenger for Flair so we got matches throughout the 90s. Top notch work from both and it's hard for me to think that nobody in the WCW offices took notice of how amazing Pillman has been when given the chance.- 14 replies

Great beatdown by Satanico. Not a lot more to say really.

Morton and Flair always deliver when paired off. Barry is really coming on strong of late. As mentioned above, the booking kills this, but fun while it lasts.

[1991-04-13-USWA-Memphis-TV] Jeff Jarrett, Steve Austin and Tom Pritchard
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
They are two for two this week on cage matches. Really strong roster right now means they don't have to rely on gimmicky stuff as much. Even if they do the patented Memphis heel beatdown afterwards as well as throw in ref bumps. -
[1991-04-13-USWA-Memphis-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry (Cage)
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
This here looked like an incredible cage match. Both guys throwing awesome, violent strikes, Embry bleeding, those chairshots looked brutal. I am with soup, this would be the one MSC match I would want in full that I've seen so far. -
[1991-04-05-USWA Texas] Jerry Lawler vs Eric Embry (Cage)
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Embry attacking Lawler's neck after the DDT was absolute gold. As was Lawler's comeback. I have to agree that the cage was all kinds of wrong and distracting.- 11 replies

[1991-04-06-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Jumbo Tsuruta vs Toshiaki Kawada
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Love this matchup. Jumbo is so good at making a lesser guy like Kawada looks like he has a glimmer of a chance. Then slamming the door shut with enough authority that you know Jumbo is still The Man.- 15 replies

[1991-04-02-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Hulk Hogan and Vince McMahon
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Hogan when he is more subdued comes across as human. Not entirely, but enough that you can really get behind him as a babyface. Great interview. -
[1991-03-02-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Ultimate Warrior
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I am all for no more Brother Love, despite some very high points of the segment. But having your top babyface beat the crap out of a completely defenseless interviewer, no matter how much of an asshole he may be, seems a bit over the top. -
[1991-04-01-SWS-Wrestle Dream in Kobe] Earthquake vs Koji Kitao
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Once Kitao realized Tenta was onto him, he didn't get anywhere near where the big guy could grab him. Probably smart given Tenta's Greco-Roman background.- 13 replies

[1991-04-01-SWS-Wrestle Dream in Kobe] Hulk Hogan vs Yoshiaki Yatsu
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Hogan really looks good. Crowd was NOT buying into Yatsu one bit. -
[1991-04-05-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Mitsuharu Misawa vs Kenta Kobashi
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
Kobashi was always great working a side headlock. Definitely better than Misawa working any kind of hold for any amount of time. Just not a strength of Misawa's and I'm pretty sure he knew that given how often he didn't do it. But how else do you wear down an up-and-coming stablemate like Kobashi without looking like a complete prick?- 11 replies

[1991-03-31-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Bobby Heenan and Andre the Giant

Giant crushing Heenan's hand was amusing, if only a year too late. -

Great fireball and a completely unexpected twist to the WM ending. -
[1991-03-30-SWS-Wrestlefest] Naoki Sano vs Masakatsu Funaki

Pretty good shootstyle match. The flurries at the end made the ending really memorable.- 9 replies

Martel and Funk for 50 minutes sounds great! Brody and Abdullah was never gonna work, I'd have to agree. Seems like this month the focus is very much on the Rougeaus, where last month it was squarely on Martel. I do like both the Raymond and Jacques arcs this month.

[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Ted DiBiase vs Virgil
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Really well done by Roddy and ted to make this segment work. Oh yeah, and Sherri too. She is so great, too bad she's not a man that the WWF could really make into a star. -
[1991-03-26-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Koko B. Ware in concert
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Good for a lot of the reasons mentioned above. But it went on far too long with Koko trying to teach Bobby to dance. -
[1991-04-12-USWA Texas] Jeff Jarrett vs Tom Pritchard (Tennessee Street Fight)
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in April 1991
I am with all of the HATE for referees enforcing the rules in this kind of match. Kind of goes against the concept doesn't it? -
[1991-03-23-AJPW-Championship Carnival] Jumbo Tsuruta vs Cactus Jack

No issues with this. Foley didn't belong here and I don't see what else Jumbo was supposed to do with him.- 18 replies

I was definitely looking at being part of the NWA. Having the champ come around and screw Colon or whoever out of a title win with some shenanigans will be a treat. As a FYI, El Boricua will be doing a lot of background work, helping out to keep rosters, characters and storylines within the realm of Puerto Rico (even if it is fantasy booking). Don't think that because I am doing a lot of the writing that he doesn't have a big influence on this. And anybody you send to PR may get bloodied up a bit, but they will get their chance to shine.
