I like Martel's story so far. I am pulling for him getting that win over Samu and going into the Flair bout with some steam. Also, I like building up Samu this way as well. Programs that benefit both guys are always a plus.

[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Hulk Hogan vs Sgt. Slaughter
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Not a Hogan guy by any means, but it works. Problem for me is Savage/Warrior was on the same card.- 16 replies

[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Randy Savage vs Ultimate Warrior
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
This was pretty amazing. Warrior looks great even throwing shit punches. Savage and Sherri work double overtime to wring every bit of drama out of this match. The post-match stuff was sappy, but it works so damn well I don't care. -
[1991-03-09-USWA-Memphis TV] Jerry Lawler vs Terry Funk / Interview: Terry Funk
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Loved this promo. Terry is believable no matter what he says, which is just crazy considering everything he ranted on here. -
I never got into Ted when I saw anything WWF as a kid. But the guy really does everything well. He has his character down to a T and all of these segments with him are well-executed.

I am completely with Loss on Pritchard's impression of Piper. It needs to be gone rightNOW. Great clips from MSC and I do wish that Lawler could have gotten the title back under better circumstances. This is, however, Memphis and I'd agree that wonky booking in title matches or big name matches is just going to be there. Funk throwing the railing around was all kinds of spectacular.

[1991-03-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Texas Boys / Tennessee vs Texas
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I was thinking the same about that excuse garetta. Embry and Dave's interactions put a smile on my face here. Gloating about beating up a long retired Jackie Fargo is certainly a good way to ensure heel heat. Typical Memphis stuff I agree, but spun right afterwards for the best effect. -
[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] The Rockers vs Haku & Barbarian
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Great opener for any PPV. High energy, never-say-die team against a pair of big heel asskickers is just a good way to get a crowd going. Barbarian bringing the power offense was pretty good with a few hiccups. -
[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Hart Foundation vs Nasty Boys
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Neidhart looking good against the Nasties was a lot of fun. That whole hot tag/finishing sequence was far better than I hoped it would be. -
[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] Rick Martel vs Jake Roberts (Blindfold)
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Really good stuff here for wearing blindfolds. I caught that Jake's was see-through as well, but it's wrestling. Martel's chair-into-the-post spot was brilliant. Great way to blow off the preceding angles.- 13 replies

[1991-03-04-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Big Boss Man and Bobby Heenan
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
This kind of stuff doesn't work if you don't have a guy like Heenan. He is so damn good at taking what could be utter garbage and turning it into gold. I absolutely agree that Bossman's mom doing the beating is far more satisfying than anything Bossman could have done himself. -
[1991-03-11-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Jake Roberts in the studio
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Jake and Bobby are so damn good in this. Two absolute professionals in every sense of the word. Just amazing to watch. -
[1991-03-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler & Steve Keirn
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
This was holy shit levels of both bullshit and absolute gold. The distance they kept from each other, the insistence by both that the ONLY reason they are teaming is Jackie Fargo got beat up. Keirn as a serious interview is really, really good and I question why the guy didn't have a great career somewhere. Also, this promo really makes you think the Texas boys are gonna get the beating of their lives in MSC. -
[1991-03-18-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Roddy Piper and Ted DiBiase
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Love this segment. Both guys play their characters so well and it helps get over the WM7 match even more. -
Taue bites off a little more than he can chew knocking Misawa off the apron. OR DOES HE? Wait, no, Misawa is massacring him with those elbows and I think he did. Kobashi and Kikuchi double teaming the entire opposing team into oblivion and then the dive fake-Kikuchi dive is so awesome. Kikuchi making the big comeback is great stuff as well. Taue really comes out of this match looking good.

Great match I thought. Jarrett and Pritchard work really well together, even if I think Pritchard could come out with the advantage on one or two exchanges right away. Not often a screwjob finish makes the babyface look stronger, but this one does.

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Ric Flair vs Tatsumi Fujinami
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I liked the intensity and stiffness of the exchanges a lot. I also think they went back to Flair taking a back body drop or somebody grabbing a quick headlock far too often. Even if they worked in those headlocks, it just seemed like both guys had more they could have done. -
[1991-03-14-NJPW-Big Fight Series] Jushin Liger vs Norio Honaga
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
This was an unexpected match, but in such a good way. Honaga will sink to whatever depth he has to in order to beat Liger. And boy does LIger get PISSED about it! A fired-up Liger comeback is always great, made even better when his opponent goes out of his way to earn it.- 11 replies

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Jushin Liger vs Akira Nogami
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
I like Nogami a lot. He keeps things simple and tends to go more for a solid story in a match instead of looking for big reactions. No exception here as he is pretty focused on Liger's leg injury and they work a great match around that.- 14 replies

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Sting vs Great Muta
dawho5 replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Really strange match. At first I thought they didn't have a lot of time so they were just getting their shit in. Then they started stalling between bursts of real offense, then came the "nobody can hit a signature move" part. Certainly fun in parts, but not great as a whole.- 12 replies
