How long would it take to catch up? I'm fascinated by how everyone that posts here seems to be at different stages with stuff they've seen/want to see. Shoe wrote in another thread 'I love finding footage of one of my favorite wrestlers that I've never seen before. I've watched a lot of footage so finding something new to me is such a treat'. I'll be at that stage in 2030....maybe.

Grimmas - Often I enjoy discussing wrestling more than watching it. Me - I'm not sure if that last one is a confession. It's hard to imagine being a fan at this level without being able to bounce ideas off others. Grimmas - Sorry, to clarify, enjoy discussing wrestling more than watching wrestling. Maybe that is common? Me - I understood ok, my point was that sometimes the discussion/analysis/reading posts here is more enjoyable than watching for me too. And it would be hard to get to his level of fandom if you were watching in a cave, completely isolated somewhere. Well? Whatcha think?

What was the consensus, Parv?

Just did a quick timecheck (this is hours and minutes) First 2 matches are finished by 0.49 Then it's 1.05 before bell rings for HHH-Sting. That's over by 1.26, then a concert takes us to 1.37. Entire Divas segment takes us to 1.50. HoF and intros for Cena-Rusev brings us to 2.13 for bell time. This concludes at 2.30 Then, Rousey etc take us to 2.58. Undertaker and Bray finish up at 3.27 Enjoyed the pomp and circumstances, to an extent, for the bigger matches. But I still think you should fit more than 7 matches in 4 hours. Oh, this is the main show.

Austin made an interesting point on his podcast review, regarding the Rousey etc segment - with so many 'pregnant pauses', apart from making the segment go too long, it also milked the crowd of enthusiasm that should have been maintained for the subsequent matches.

Thanks for this Chad - 'Hansen - when did he start into this 'older, weary veteran' stage? Was it really with the young lions Misawa and co coming up? I ask because I got to the tail end of 86 in the ajpw 80s set and he was going strong there. - Hansen as an older, weary veteran is an interesting question. I am not sure if by 1993 he is in that stage yet or not. Misawa is able to definitely put him away there establishing himself as the ace. In 1994, Doc is the most pushed gaijin and that might be the catalyst for the transition as Hansen is still a fixture but no longer the main gaijin to go along with the main native inside the promotion.' ....but what I really meant was I see a big difference between Hansen in 86 and 90. He's selling quite a bit more for Misawa than I could have envisioned him doing for a similarly positioned wrestler in 86.

I'm into October and it's black and yellow Kawada and all is right in the world. Of the four pillars, as of this point I see Misawa leading as a complete package, with very little space between the other three. Taue has really impressed/surprised me. And Kobashi - already! - is Mr Electricity. Really glad I decided to go deep with this....

I am totally on board with this thing. Speaking of commentary, I have a hard time watching a match without it. Even commetnary in languages I don't understand help me out. Fan cams and such are difficult for me, they feel incomplete. If a match has a great finish (doesn't have to be a clean pinfall to be great) I will probably like the match, regardless of the rest of it. Often I enjoy discussing wrestling more than watching it. It's the stone cold stunner variation he uses, Garretta. (Hey, look at me - Actually bring something useful to an All-Japan chat!)

Read on 411mania that 10 minutes were trimmed off the main event because Rock etc went long. If true, do you think Lesnar and Reigns needed another 10? I thought it was timed perfectly. The timing issues might have been a blessing in disguise on this one.

' - I am jealous of people like Dylan Waco and ohtani's jacket who seem to have an endless attention span when it comes to watching and analyzing wrestling' Me too. I always read the 90s yearbook thread after watching matches and kick myself at all the details I missed

Chyna in the early noughties?

I'll just lift this from the 'Austin and WWE' thread and say general pettiness in wrestling - 'This is the impression I get. I feel like passive aggression from WWE is pretty likely here, but Austin is too generally content and busy to keep up with the gamesmanship. They need him more than he needs them at this point. Edit: And I don't think anything bugs the WWE more than individuals who can be bigger than the company'

Your Wrestling Pet Perfections/ Utter Love
BigBadMick replied to Johnny Sorrow's topic in Pro Wrestling
When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer Don't think you'll get much sympathy on that, Pete -
'Speaking of ratings, another pet peeve is fans acting like ratings/ppv buys/network subs affect them directly. Unless you own stock or are directly related to the McMahons it doesn't make a bit of difference.' That's a really good one. Generally, I'm all for anything that involves wrestling being a part of your life, but not pretending that you live or die by it. A little distance/perspective is healthy.

Your Wrestling Pet Perfections/ Utter Love

I was just thinking we could do with a reply to all this negativity and Johnny rides into town! Lately, Stan Hansen. Loving his 1990 in All Japan. -
Wade Keller's been grinding my gears too. He's never finishing running down WWE. HHH and Stephanie in particular get it non-stop. That's fine when it's justified (plenty of the time) but all the f*cking time and over the most miniscule, pissy little things gets tiresome.

There's talk of Paul O'Brien's novels becoming a HBO series. That's 70s and 80s behind-the-scenes intrigue though.

Fans chanting 'Husky Harris' during Bray Wyatt's Raw debut. Dicks!

Current favorite wrestler to watch: Daniel Bryan. After the initial disappointment at Rumble, he's out there making the best of the situation. Loved his tag with Reigns v Usos. Last fun match you saw: Hansen v Williams, June 1990. Wrestler you want to see more of: Curious to see what becomes of Samoa Joe. Liked the ACH and Elgin matches. Last live show attended (if applicable/different from last time you answered): WWE house show in Belfast, April 2013 Match you're most looking forward to watching: Giving 90s AJPW a thorough rewatch, the hits just keep on coming Last fun interview/promo you saw: The Lesnar pretapes before Mania Last interesting thing you read about wrestling: I started reading Hansen's biography a couple of months ago. Was really enjoying it - got to the Sammartino matches in '76. Will get back to it one of these days... Last worthwhile podcast you listened to: Exile on Bad Street 1 was really good. Must also mention the epic Top 100 matches on the Network series. Pete, Charles, Steven, Chad - take a bow, lads! Most fun you've had watching wrestling lately: I really enjoyed Lesnar v Reigns. I'm going to be a grump and say that the rest of the show didn't do a great deal for me. The ladder match, Rollins v Orton and Cena v Rusev were all solid enough, but - my God! - 7 matches in a four hour block just isn't enough for me. The show seemed padded out to a ludicrious degree. (I'll get my coat...) Favorite recent post on this board: Liked Parv pushing for a resurgence of Flair discussion for GOAT. I know, a lot of the veteran posters have been over this again and again and again, but it's relatively new to me.... Favorite thing about the wrestling landscape in the past three months (if you live in the past, then go with your past three months of time-traveling): Loved Reigns v Bryan at Fast Lane. Not the result I wanted at the time, but a hell of a match.

Williams hospitalised him there. Were there genuine injuries?
