This is the correct answer folks

Great recap as usual. I haven't listened to the Austin running commentary yet, but looking forward to it. I've heard a couple horror podcasts do this and enjoy it. I'd love to hear guys like Ross, Jericho and Cornette do the same.

Well, the whole promotion was gone in a couple of weeks, lol

Nice call as well

To be fair: in the Bubba Ray Dudley and Tony interviews, its much better. The Sting interview was just embarrassing.

Good question. This is just my opinion, but among mainstream, I really don't think he was known at all at the time. I think among wrestling fans, he was well known because he was basically an "attention whore" in that he'd always pitch ideas to Apter to get him featured in magazines. Well, I'm guessing it depended how many fans read the magazines. I'm pretty sure Letterman didnt know him before the show, although he did work for Dick the Bruiser -

It was. Here's the clip In actuality, Jarrett took a HUGE gamble and basically made Hart the lead in his promotion until Lawler returned...a gambles that paid off for the next 4 plus years -

As a Memphis guy that started watching in 81, if you can watch anything before that, especially when Jarrett took over in 77. But like Steenalized stated , it's just not out there. You really start seeing consistent stuff around 1980. You've got to start with the TV that's available in the summer of 79 because that covers the Dundee/Lawler-Farris/Latham feud and the Tupelo Concession Brawl, one of the more famous programs in the history of the territory. You also get Hogan coming in to defend Brutus (14 years before they built a WM off that), an awesome Gilberts-Waynes family feud, the Freebirds randomly coming in and having a 20 minute TV match with Lawler and Dundee, and then Lawler as a heel having TV matches with Ricky Morton and Steve Regal and torturing Jerry Jarrett. It's fantastic. Don't skip that stuff, especially since 1980 is kind of a down year with Lawler out. You forgot to mention Lawler sporting a ridiculous Bruno perm, lol You're actually spot on with everything, it's just basically various, but fantastic, clips from that time. If only Jarrett could have saved his tapes -

Personally, I'd rather hear Kevin and Justin talk rather than the interviews. It's not knocking Kevin's interviews style because he does a good job, but because he and Justin gave good chemistry. Not sure if I'll like a ROH (I get he's promoting his company)guy every week, but as long as he mixes it up as well.

Great stuff and I've found myself agreeing with most (except the Dundee one, since I'm a Memphis guy, I'm biased, but rehashes will happen on different podcasts. It's the ones that are on the same one like Grappler and Piper). I've learned to FF through the Cornette and Ross monologues, but someone mentioned on Twitter about Cornette's suicide rant, so listened. Very awkward moments in that rant with his co host Alice trying to be diplomatic, but probably wanting to say "Shut the eff up asshole."

He had Malaria which ended his early career. This is what he looked like before it. That pic looks so odd, almost like an intentionally bad photoshop
-
Heck, he looked like death in his Mid Atlantic run in 81. He was basically a corpse here. Hard, hard living.

God, that was the worst interview ever. Ross continually talking over Sting with Sting just answeing "yeah, yeah". But I admit his Bubba Ray one from the past week was much better as he let Bubba actually speak

That's an interesting look at it. Are you saying they should have done "Blue Blood skits" with Rich and Morton? Admittedly, I'd like to have seen it now that I'm thinking about it. Would have had some entertainment and fans (maybe) would have cared.
