World Domination with Terry Garvin Sims
UKWildcat replied to UKWildcat's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Figured I needed to bump this with an interesting guest this week. From Terry: As most of you know by now I've had a podcast with Bob Hazlewood for over a year. Yesterday we recorded a episode that I had looked forward to for sometime and I thought everyone would enjoy. However I must admit Jeanie Clarke shocked and mesmerized us with her brutal honesty and hard hitting facts of her life. She bares her soul about her childhood, moving to the states, her marriage and divorce to Stone Cold Steve Austin, and the true stories of struggles in her life as well as raising 3 wonderful children. I have always thought so much of Jeanie as person and a lady with a great business mind. This episode will shock some of you but I'll promise you may have a new role model and a huge amount of respect for this lady I'm proud to consider a friend! Have a blessed Sabbath my friends & godspeed. TS -
The Bix Show Ep. #2 - Lance Russell; AVClub's LaToya Ferguson
UKWildcat replied to Bix's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Excellent. Started watching Memphis rasslin in 1981, so Lance is like a grandfather. Looking forward to listening to it. -
Being in Lawler's area...remember Lawler was one of the most despised heels in the 70s; people wanted to kill him. While it's always said that the best heels make the best baby faces, some may not let those lingering feelings go so easy. .

I believe it was revealed that Humongous (Sid Vicious) in Continental was Shane Douglas' cousin. Ron and Jimmy Garvin billed as brothers when Ron is actually his stepdad
-
There was a whole Bass clan. Ron also teamed with Don Bass, a regular in Memphis in teams like the Assassins, Interns, Fire & Flame. They also had Ma Bass, their mom (obviously). I think she had a pipe and shot gun
-
Isn't he Lance's dad? Just the idea that Kerry and co have an evil Nazi uncle cracks me up. Actually wasn't it Fritz's gimmick as well until he moved to the Dallaa area and people knew who he was from his SMU days.

Stupid things non-wrestling fans say to you
UKWildcat replied to Cross Face Chicken Wing's topic in Pro Wrestling
I actually think this is great. None of the fake comments ever bothered me, but like a quote above "half naked men rolling around". People would try and use that as a slur that you were gay (for enjoying watching men "wrestle"). Always thought that was a low blow. -
I would buy a shoot of Parv just running down Strongbow, lol I just read Gary Hart's book and he talks several times about how he hates Strongbow. Throughout the book, Hart's voice was narrating, but when he'd talk about Strongbow, I kept hearing Parv

Granted, since Terry is a friend, I'd love to see it, but truthfully, I'd skip the Goldberg ones. I hate to even see you waste your time With it.

World Domination with Terry Garvin Sims
UKWildcat replied to UKWildcat's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Just thought I'd add a running list of Terry's weekly guests This weeks guest is the only guy that loves Memphis rasslin more than me: Mark James. Mark has several books chronicling the history and has written books with Memphis legends like Jerry Jarrett, Dutch Mantel, Bill Dundee and more. Mark talks about some behind the scenes stuff such as the Memphis split and Lawler nearly splitting with Jarrett after seeing Jarrett's mansion. -
Hey guys, thought Id pass this along. I know most have said there are too many wrestling podcasts out there, but eh, I love it. I can always use it as background noise while doing various projects or in the car (since I dont listen to the radio). Anyways, we know there are the big ones like Austin, Jericho, Ross, Cabana, but wanted to let you know of one thats a bit smaller, but gives you a bunch of stars from the territories. My buddy Terrance Garvin (aka Terry Sims) of old Memphis, Continental and Global fame, has a podcast called World Domination with Terry Garvin Sims (which can be found on iTunes through Random Brain Activity). Is it as polished as the big ones? Nah, but itll give you some insight on the old territory days with such guests as Eric Embry, Mr Horse Cock himself Robert Fuller, Bobby Fulton, Black Bart, Tom Prichard, Brian Adias, The Patriot (Del Wilkes), Princess Victoria, Bill Dundee and more. Just another podcast with a different variety of guests.

Honestly, we have to stop this narrative that "Vince destroyed the territories." He did no such thing. It was greedy promoters who would short change wrestlers and Pocket that $$$ for themselves. Vince provided them an opportunity to make good money and many took him up. It was a business decision that benefited both. Do I wish we could go back to the territories? Of course. I sat ringside each week at the Louisville Gardens until they closed up in 1997 and loved it. I still get together with my friends that would go and we always get around to talking about Tuesday night at the Gardens. But we need to quit this "Vince destroyed the territories " nonsense. If I had my pick it's Dixie Carter. I'm a firm believer in competition in a capitalistic world. TNA was the last chance for the WWE to have some semblance of competition and they just destroyed it.

Eh, call me a snob, but I love it being "amateur"...part of the charm, ya know And I just pretended Marty was channeling his Charlie Brown teacher sound effect. All good to me

Didn't know Slick lived here. Is this what you shot? http://www.wdrb.com/story/27567607/louisville-pastor-discusses-history-making-career-as-a-pro-wrestling-manager -
Ugh, I will always say that's the worst ending in pro wrestling history, just above the Sting/Hogan Starcade 97 one.

I thought this was 93 before Slamboree when this happened, which is why they brought in Roma. I'd always heard WCW claiming they were bringing them in as a "team" and once Tullys drug results were released, Herd balked and lowballed Arn, claiming since they aren't coming in as a team... -

The spinebuster Arn gives Michaels is, IMO, the most beautifully executed move in the history of wrestling
