People don't go to wrestling shows to watch wrestling as a "sport" anymore. Fans know they're watching a performance and treat it as watch. Reigns was only cheered because he wasn't Batista. Times change. Cena's been on top for 10 years and has had a divided reaction the entire time. Fans now view main eventers who were pushed without "deserving it" as being handpicked and thus must suck. In any other generation, Reigns would probably have no issue with getting over just based on performance alone. Fans are post-modern in the sense they know they're trying to be manipulated, resist and the company resorts to booking using annoying reverse psychology. Daniel Bryan was viewed as being held down. The company had the people who the audience knew had power backstage demean and belittle him. This makes the audience think this is what Triple H and company really think of him and rally behind him. Not to say they didn't botch up his feud with Orton. He even said in his book it was a misguided attempt to protect him.

Did Vince give himself an award in MSG?

I'm surprised that isn't more well known. Saw it for the first time years ago and thought it was hilarious. -

Often forgotten periods of a wrestlers career...

Minor, but I forgot about Owen using the sit-down Tombstone after he injured Austin with it. I think the last one was used to set up the fake Blue Blazer angle. -
Off topic, but wasn't he responsible for a lot of the grunge knock-offs WCW used? DDP's Smells Like Teen Spirit rip-off comes to mind. Pretty sure he gifted us with Three Count's amazing songs too.

He was trying to execute some moves more safely. I recall a Frankensteiner off the top that was remarkably non-dangerous looking. He's also done the dropkick in the corner where he rolled off using the ropes instead of landing on his head.

That's what his IC title run was essentially going to be. He would be in the upper midcard of RAW and main event of Smackdown wrestling guys like Barrett and Ziggler. Since he went down with an injury, he vacated the title without throwing the show into disarray.

Too bad Saturday Morning Slam isn't around anymore. It was a kid-friendly show that forbade any moves that targeted the neck. (I think strikes too as they cut away from Kofi's finishing move when he appeared.) He had a fun comedy match with Tyson when neither of them took any real bumps. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xujf9s_tyson-kidd-vs-daniel-bryan-saturday-morning-slam-10-20-12_sport Side note, I think Santino may be my least favorite commentator ever.

I just don't know if I could deal with people whining about how he's not in the main event. Hell, they were trying out a variation of Loss' idea by making him IC champ and people complained about that. Making him a deliberate opening guy match is asking for trouble.

I LOVE the idea of Stephanie telling him he has to start from the bottom and programming him with someone like Slater to start. They could stretch that out for two years and just let the crowd determine how far to take it. That is absolutely a terrible idea and one that the crowds will no doubt refuse to play along with. That's a great idea and one where the crowd can easily be conditioned to go along for the ride. That's an average idea and one that the crowds will have no strong feelings for either way.

I don't like magic camera backstage segments either, but they're here to stay for the foreseeable future. Might as well try to make them tolerable.

Integender wrestling, mainly in the United States. It's not even a violence against women issue, it's just stupid watching a 100lb woman having a competitve match with guys that usually have at least 80lbs on them. With someone like Rey, he was springboarding all over the place and chopping his opponents down. Male vs female matches tend to fall under the Jericho trope of wrestling your opponents style. It's stupid to see Mia Yim suplexing a big fat guy like Greg Excellent. #intergender -
Nah, this shit never adds up in any way.

They could stretch that out for two years and just let the crowd determine how far to take it. Funny idea, but I don't know about 2 years. Even if he comes back, I can't help, but think he's on borrowed time and should probably in a more effective role than feuding with a jobber even for a month. Before Dusty died, he was the promo coach. They even have a little studio where they can cut practice promos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1VWVvLuS2I https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXbqV-OpEGk They could probably benefit from having an actual professional teach them, but you hear reports of guys Reigns going to classes and still coming off as stilted. https://twitter.com/HowardLFine/status/531513940636106752

There Flair goes, exposing himself to women again.

Summer...that's probably not a move you should be doing in a short skirt.

I thought that was the reason he was released when they signed a bunch of guys to work ECW house shows. -

What about Marty Jannety coming back to save Shawn Michaels from the Spirit Squad? He's had one shots here and there over the years, but they seemed to be leading to a McMahon/Rockers feud after Vince tried to get Marty inducted in the Kiss My Ass club. It was dropped suddenly and no mention was made again. -
I don't have a problem with him getting lost in being Stardust, but Cole saying "you portray a character on TV" isn't that far away from what Russo used to do.
-
Well, a heart condition killed him, so he'd probably be dead regardless of the accident.

Does Noble mirror Ace a little bit? Debuted in WCW as Jaime-San, unmasked as generic (American) cruiserweight. Signed to WWE afer WCW closed and debuted as a West Virginian redneck (career highlights include long Cruiserweight title run and sleeping with Billy Gunn in a four-way with Nidia and Torrie Wilson), got fired for writing off a staph infection from a steroid injection as a medical expense, had a decent run in RoH for about a year before coming back for an aimless run. Eventually retired to focus on agenting until recently coming back as a part of J&J Security.

That's another thing why the board hasn't really been touched. It's like the Something Awful and other pay forums. Most people who bother to do troll gimmicks don't have much going on and when they do end up getting banned, they don't mind coughing up another $10. As for Ed, I don't know if he's a friend or not. The only thing I do know is I stumbled across his Twitter and felt dirtier for having done so. Probably a big financial supporter of slamminladies.com
