I don't know. One thing to say Cody's gone off the deep end and another to outright say it's a gimmick and that's he portraying a character on TV. Cole could have pointed out he originally did this to save his tag team with Dustin. He then ended up becoming so engrossed in it, he cut ties with his father and brother and is now going after an actor. Hell, on that end, they should have let Cody think Amell is actually Green Arrow. It'd be a bit more entertaining.

You're forgetting the best part. It wasn't the wrong man as in never tagged in, but wrong man as in never in the match. Owen was half of the tag champs, but was taken out to tend to his wife having his second kid (this apparently wasn't real.) He runs in and almost immediately gets pinned by Diesel. It was terrible.

The board is more of an Alvarez thing. I haven't been there in a while, but there was a moderated section created for Dave to post in, but he never did/does for whatever reason.
-
I thought we were past nonsense like this: It's one thing to do an out of ring expose, but doing a kayfabed interview and asking if he's "living the gimmick?"
-
Ugh, I've had a subscription on and off for years, but never posted at on the board for reasons like that. DC SNIPER comes to mind as obnoxious troll gimmick poster, weirdos like Ed from San Antonio and r*v3rt coming into countless topics to do nothing, but argue/troll about nonsense like late slips.

Loss...be honest. How much of the product do you actually follow by seeing and not by reading newsletters? That post reminds me of the time you declared that Elimination Chamber match in 2014 as the 2nd greatest match in company history before recanting. Outside of Wrestlemania, how often do they do the "dream" build? Cena is currently fending off people who want to make a name by taking his title, Rollins has been involved in on/off feuds with Reigns and Ambrose over his betrayal over a year ago and is currently being programmed to defend his title against Cena after being defeated in a US title match. The IC title's feud is Big Show simply wanting the it and challenging Ryback for it. Same with the tag titles. Outside of title matches, Rusev wants to hurt Dolph for taking Lana away and Owens/Cesaro seem to be building to a feud over who is better. Not all of it's great and some (like a majority of the Lana stuff) bad. A lot of it simply comes from overexposure. 7/8 hours of programming from the same company is enough to burn anyone out be it watching, performing or writing. Goc has a point of people wanting the company to be something they've never tried being. Yes, we have a teleporting MRA, but as far back as 1990 there's been goofy supernatural shit. Undertaker being an actual zombie, Papa Shango's voodoo magic and Kane shooting fire. The cartoon aspect is there and is likely never going away. WCW got shit on because they were relying on guys that had debuted some 20/25 years prior and dominated the television. The only active, in-ring ones who come close to that are Kane and Big Show and despite being on TV, they're mostly used for putting over the newer guys. The Authority is beyond played out at this point and does need to go away, but overexposure rears it's ugly head and they think they need something to fill three hours with. I actually agree with some of your points. The 50/50 booking is annoying (although it seems like people bitch about it every time someone loses a feud), the reliance on awful nu-metal long past it's expiration date and the marketing/buzzwords are terrible. The lack of actual heels is disheartening. Did you know people were actually upset over Bad News Barrett not being allowed to do his opening shtick anymore because it popped the crowd despite being a heel? Blame it on the agents or whoever for allowing it in the first place, but the fact people were mad that they shouldn't cheer heels is a decent idea of why there's so few little actual bad guys. Tough Enough also needs to go die in a fire.

Often forgotten periods of a wrestlers career...

Mickie Knuckles stint in TNA as Moose Knuckles. Broke her leg doing a stupid move on an indy show and never came back. If you don't know who she is, look up "Mike Levy Incident." -
Is wrestling fake? Dana White thinks so.
LariatMMBOPPO replied to LariatMMBOPPO's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah. "Fake" tends to be the word choice used by people who people who would further elaborate by saying "that shit's all fake, none of those guys are really hurt". And also the word choice used by non-fans who condescendingly assume that the fans still think it's all real. Dana never said it didn't hurt and complimented the wrestlers. People read the word "fake" and saw red. Was it a douche-y thing to say? Probably, but I don't think wrestlers responding by posting pictures of what happens when they accidentally get hurt at work reflects well on them. -
Love Vince whining about it when Bischoff/"Turner" started doing the same to him.
-
No. Bryan's mentioned wanting to make Smackdown the "wrestling" show and being the focus of it, having the IC title would be incidental.

I know it is, that's kinda the point of the topic. Wrestlers and fans still getting up in arms over an innocuous word. Aries literally did the the Internet version of "that's an open hand slap." -
Wait, wouldn't it be a case of sticking to their long term plans too much? Vince was insistent on having Bret drop the title to Shawn.
-
Wasn't Jaime Noble's injury a work? He got powerbombed on the outside of the ring to write him off so he could become an agent.
-
I love him "outing" Saba Simba as being Tony Atlas. While it was probably scripted beforehand, it's just great hearing him go off. "THAT'S TONY ATLAS, THAT AIN'T NO SABA SIMBA"

LariatMMBOPPO replied to LariatMMBOPPO's topic in Pro Wrestling
Just the normal outrage competition of twitter. Aye. I'm just amused that it's not just fans, but wrestlers getting annoyed. Anyone in contact with John Stossel? Maybe Austin can slap him a few times. -
https://twitter.com/danawhite/status/627301270248751105?lang=en Apparently Dana has set off a small controversy after calling wrestling fake. This has lead to fans calling him names, posting pictures of Brock Lesnar and asking him to get in the ring. It's also caused a bunch of wrestlers to go after him for the comments. I hate to say it, but I'm siding with Dana on this. Aside from his choice of words, he's not really all that hard on the profession and wrestlers and wrestling fans have this weird hang up about the word fake. I wanted to ask: is there a difference between fake and scripted? Are wrestlers making fools of themselves by posting pictures of injuries they suffered as proof that it's not fake?

My issue with Sheamus is less who his workout pals are and more his inability to keep from hurting people he's matched with. Like? I know he allegedly hurt Bryan, but who else?

Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
LariatMMBOPPO replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Why are we taking anything Russo says at face value? The blog reminds me of Fusient-era Eric Bischoff's appearances on WON. He said all the right things yet what happens when he gets a little bit of power 15 years later? Samoa Joe getting kidnapped by ninjas. Hulk Hogan being the face of a company. World champion AJ Styles being reduced to a Ric Flair clone. They know the right things to say. They'll just never do them. -
It was the Mizard of Oz. It's great in an ironic way. It fits the gimmick of a douche trying to be clever and failing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ocj6ndkd66M He also used the Reality Check. A knee lift transitioned immediately in a neckbreaker. I'm not a fan of "combo" moves like Jay Lethal's weird backbreaker/Flatliner move, but what made this one especially bad was instead of being one fluid motion, Miz would awkwardly pause for half a second to blindly grab his opponent's head. Daniel Bryan used a guillotine choke a few times in WWE. I know he beat Drew McIntyre with it, at least. Also, not a finisher, but I wish Orton would use this move more often.

Reverse elimination might be a little misleading on my part. Apparently, it's the person who scores the pin that gets to leave the match instead of the loser leaving. I don't understand that either. Maybe they're bringing back rankings for some strange reason? -

Too many clean wins, not enough cheap finishes.
LariatMMBOPPO replied to JerryvonKramer's topic in WWE
Oh, I can see him/them being insecure, I just don't see many former wrestlers actually being bigger than the company.
