Boyd makes an impactful debut. An alliance between Debeers and Boyd? OH NO! If you look back at this game's history, Boone has done quite well. He's keeping that up in the NWA. Ox and the Islanders is such a devastating combo. Smiley shows off his tremendous skills by dismantling the big man. I have to admit, I popped big time when Johnson pulled of that win over Haystacks. What a great TV moment. Dusty vs. Arn always delivers. Dusty wins the A block and is really close to a Starrcade main event. Worldwide, Another solid round of showcases with Fuller, Spartanburg and Adonis. Jump'n Joe gets his shot at Smiley. Smiley's been taking on a variety of challengers. Fright Night is really shaping up. Hansen vs. Flair! Bees get their title shot. And the winners of the Spartanburg/New Breed feud will be rewarded with a US tag shot. Next week's Block B matches will be a lot of fun. Dusty is going to have his hands full with whoever wins it. Great storylines as we head down the road to Starrcade.

Burke's having a bit of a career resurgence as him and Finlay hand the Diamond Exchange a rare loss. Cactus is really proving himself. Dutch Savage has had enough! Will the wrestlers be able to control themselves until Battleground? It was tainted but that win might be enough to get Young's confidence back. Windham busts out the claw! Midnights ruin the tag title bout and didn't look like Snow appreciated that. Portland, Rose fought hard for that win. Never underestimate the Playboy. I got a kick out of the Red/Cactus match. Bearer has sure taken a liking to Red. Haynes shows he can brawl with the best of them. Odd Couple get back on the winning track and Gantner was pissed about it. Thanks to more chaos, Savage comes out with another stern warning. Bock is really going out with a bang. Interesting that both Owen and Pillman received recent Pacific title shots with Bock and will now wrestle each other at Battleground. Eugene, Snow fought hard but goes down to SSM. Another hard fought brawl between Burke and Angel. Anvilizer! Coast to Coast get a big win over the Sawyers. St. Clair looks impressive with a win over tag champ Candido. Backlund vs. Finlay is a heck of a way to end the night. Battleground is stacked! So much at stake.

AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 11-4-87 Footage from last week is shown as The Quebec Coalition attack Jerry Lawler. Later in the show, Lawler comes out and announces the Quebec Coalition will face him and a mystery partner. Lance Russell: Hello everybody and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. After what you all just saw, tonight's main event will be Jerry Lawler and a partner of his choosing versus The Quebec Coalition. We'll have an update on Carlos Colon. Tony Atlas goes one on one with Crusher Blackwell. Polynesian Power takes on Venomous. But right now, my guest is the AWA world champion, Bad News Brown. Brown is so money as he walks out wearing a suit with the top buttons unbuttoned, gold chain around his neck and the belt on his shoulder. Lance: Well Bad News, you've had lot going on recently. Jerry Jarrett has signed the world title rematch between you and Jerry Lawler, which will take place right here, next week on TV. Not only that but you recently wrestled UWF champ Lex Luger in a title vs. title match at their Halloween Havoc. Just what was that all about? It seemed to of come out of nowhere. Brown: What happened was I got tired of beating up all the competition in the AWA. An opportunity came up to beat up a so called champion somewhere else and I did just that. If it wasn't for some jezebel, I'd be wearing two titles right now! As for Queen Lawler, it looks like he's preoccupied with other things right now. Well, if he aint one hundred percent next week, then that's bad news for him! Bad News raises his fist and the title. Commercial Break Mando Guerrero vs. Ty Ramsey Good showcase for Mando as he swings off the ropes and hits a flying crossbody press for the win. Mando cuts a promo and says he's looking forward to shutting Bruce Hart up. Commercial Break AWA World Tag Team Champ Tony Atlas vs. Crusher Blackwell These two start out clubbing each other. Blackwell gets the upper hand but that's cut short when the Bruise Brothers hit the ring and attack Blackwell. The 3 on 1 attack doesn't last long because Rip Oliver and Matt Borne hit the ring with fists flying. The pier six brawl goes on into the commercial. Commercial Break ZZ Top's 'Sharp Dress Man' plays as Chris Adams drives around in a convertible. His hair's waving in the wind and he's wearing sunglasses as he looks in the mirror and gives himself a smile. "Gentleman" Chris Adams is coming to the AWA The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin vs. Todd Rooney and Ray Glader Norvell puts his arms up in victory as the Midnight's hit the double flapjack for the win. Phil Hickerson comes out to join his stablemates at ringside. Resnick: Norvell, your Midnight Express are having a hard time with the Glamour Boys. And Phil Hickerson seems to be having his hands full with Scott Putski. Norvell: Hello! Did you not see last week's match when my main man Phil knocked that Punkski out? Knocked him out cold! Resnick: Yea, with the help of some brass knuckles. Norvell: Your opinion means nothing Resnick. Now, as far as those sissy boys go, my Midnight Express are going to take care of them soon enough. I mean we've beaten them up so many times, it's not even fun anymore. Commercial Break "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez vs. Curtis Moore Perez looks outstanding and wins the match with the helicopter drop! Resnick: Al, next week at the Rupp Arena, once again it's you and Larry Zbyszko, only this time, the winner will receive an AWA International title shot at SuperClash 2. Perez: You know, last year Larry and I were National tag team champs. A lot has changed. It's time to prove myself and win a single's title. That means I have to get through Zbyszko first. Larry, I've beaten you before and I'll do it again. Commercial Break Footage is shown from a few weeks ago when Abbuda Iaukea threw a fireball in Carlos Colon's face. Carlos Colon is sitting in a hospital bed with his head bandaged and wrapped around his left eye. Colon: Sitting here for weeks, I've had a lot of time to reflect. I consider this punishment for the sins I've committed this past year. I'm ashamed of my actions and behavior. I was wrong and from the bottom of my heart I'm sorry. I will be back to redeem myself and that starts with the Iaukea family. I should be cleared to wrestle by the end of the year. Which means at SuperClash 2, I'm challenging you Abbuda Iaukea! Your Father has you on a very dark path. Trust me, that will get you nowhere. Curtis! If you get in my way, it will be your demise! I will see you both at SuperClash! Commercial Break Abbuda Iaukea w/Curtis Iaukea vs. Harold Bannister Abbuda hits the ring and pounds Bannister to the ground. Abbuda hits 3 consecutive backbreakers and follows with the camel clutch for the win. Abbuda hurls Bannister out of the ring. Curtis hits Bannister several times with his kendo stick. Abbuda runs over, picks up Bannister and rams him back first into the steel post several times before slamming him down hard on the concrete! Bannister is stretchered out by a team of Medics. Resnick: That was uncalled for! You both should be banned from wrestling! Curtis: That was a message! A message to you Carlos Colon! Abbuda will be waiting! (Maniacal laugh) Yes, he will be waiting! Abbuda: Colon! You're right. My path is a dark one. A path you didn't have the guts to take. At SuperClash you will be on my path and I will tear right through you! And then the real suffering begins! Commercial Break Polynesian Power vs. Venomous w/Gama Singh Fun fast paced match that really shows what these two teams are capable of. Venomous are a well oiled machine and pull out some innovating high offensive maneuvers. Kokina and Snuka bring the power. After 10 minutes, all 4 men are going at it. Snuka sends Cobra through the ropes with a jumping headbutt as Kokina hits a Samoan Drop on Scorpio for the pin! Bruce Hart and Greg Gagne run in and attack Snuka. Kokina runs over but Gama clips him behind the knee. They start putting the boots to Polynesian Power. The fans go wild when Mando Guerrero storms the ring swinging a chair like a madman! That's enough to clean house. Commercial Break Saturday, December 31st St. Paul Civic Center Live on Pay Per View Jerry Jarrett is standing in front of a SuperClash 2 banner Jarrett: SuperClash 2 is shaping up to be the greatest event in AWA history. What better way to kick things off then with Joan Jett singing the National Anthem? You know that on the previous night at the Clash Countdown, there will be a tag team battle royal. The winners will each be rewarded a brand new Cadillac and a National Tag Team title shot the next night at SuperClash. Carlos Colon will be back to take on Abbuda Iaukea. Big news on the Million Dollar Match. The two names will be drawn next week in the lotto pool on the returning Beauty Shop. Switching gears, recently in Japan a fan poll was taken. They voted on the dream match they wanted to see most. Well, at SuperClash the AWA is going to give them that match. It will be none other than Jumbo Tsuruta against Tatsumi Fujinami. That's right, the former AWA world tag champs and Crockett Cup winners will face each other at SuperClash. This will truly be an international spectacle. I'll see you all next week on the Beauty Shop for the big million dollar match lotto drawing. Commercial Break "The Fabulous One" Steve Keirn vs. Vic Dutro Keirn wins it with the reverse DDT. Resnick: Steve, next week at the Rupp Arena, you get an International title shot against Mike George. Tremendous opportunity for you. Keirn: It is a tremendous opportunity and trust me I'm going to make the absolute most of it. I heard Gagne and George running their mouths last week about how I'm not worthy competition. Boys, I came out on the winning side of War Games and I'm carrying that momentum to the International title! Commercial Break Billy Jack Strong vs. William Hillman Strong is aggressive tonight and finishes things off with a shoulder breaker. It's announced that Strong will get his TV title shot rematch in two weeks. Strong cuts a promo and says Busick's been ducking him because he's scared and knows his title reign is coming to an abrupt end! Commercial Break Resnick: In just a few minutes our main event will take place. Before we get to that I wanted to bring out Professor Bill Ash and his Honor Roll. Ash comes out in his cap and gown. Kelly and Morgan are wearing their new black gowns. Resnick: Well Professor, you guys did it. The Honor Roll defeated the Technicians in a non title match and now have earned a National tag title shot at the Rupp Arena next week. Ash: Admit it Resnick, I'm a genus. I told you I would put together the total sum of a tag team and I did. Kevin Kelly and Rip Morgan have become one. And now, they will become champions. Resnick: Ok, we'll see about that next week at the Rupp Arena. Our huge main event when we come back. Commercial Break Jerry "The King" Lawler and ??? vs. The Quebec Coalition w/Frenchy Martin Frenchy and The Quebec Coalition are standing in the ring boasting confidence. Frenchy grabs the mic. Frenchy: Dis is what I thought. There was no way Jerry Lawler would find a partner brave enough to face de Quebec Coalition. Do your job referee and count de coward out!" The fans boo as Frenchy waves the Quebec Flag while Charland and Lefon berate the Ref. The boos turn to wild cheers as Jerry Lawler steps out. He walks a few steps down the aisle smiling. Lawler stops and looks to the back. The curtain opens and it's...it's....it's...yes! it's NIKITA KOLOFF!!! The bell rings as Lawler and Koloff charge in. Lawler and Nikita pound away on the Quebecs as the fans go nuts! Stereo body slams. Frenchy tries to hit Lawler with his flag but Nikita runs over and sends him through the ropes with a running shoulder block! Charland staggers up as Nikita clotheslines him over the top rope! Lawler hoists Lafon up and piledrives him down. Lawler picks up Lafon and swings him to the ropes as Nikita just about decapitates him with the Russian Sickle 1..2..3!!! The fans are standing, jumping and screaming as Lawler and Nikita celebrate. Unbelievable!

That's so awesome! I can't think of a better compliment than that. Way to cool.

Vic Steamboat continues to rack up wins. Ross and Brickhouse put a stamp on their feud with the Russians. Bruno tries but gets caught. Hopefully we get more Scott/Embry matches. This could be a really fun feud. Wild triple bullrope match where the masks keep coming off. This would've been a blast to see live. Fuller thinks he's riding high after helping the Starrs beat the Nightmares. That comes to an abrupt end with a revenge fireball from the Bullet. Tommy no shows but we get 'Mildfire' and one hilarious shirt. This was so funny and was topped off by Travis and Bruno simply walking out on Mildfire LOL. Madril is a walking miracle and wouldn't you know it, he walks out with the title! I can only imagine what the next Fiesta Garden will be like. Twin States continues to deliver the heat.

The battle of the Halloween Havocs! Here we go! I think Ladd better give Robley what he wants. Ladd makes a great call and gives us an exciting tag bout. Taylor and Garvin get the win but the young and brutal cartel get the last laugh. Props to Ivan and Wahoo for going all out. The fans witnessed a bloodbath brawl. I hope we get to find out what went down in the back. Hayes is the most heelish babyface in the game LOL. He's also one sly dude. The scene of Missy and Gilbert counting with their backs turned was hilarious. Mulligan makes Estrada suffer until El Gringo Grande (Long live the T-Shirts) himself shows up and it's none other than Tommy Rich! What an awesome surprise! Rich is a shoe in for most hated wrestler of the year. I can't wait to see what he does here and how he interacts with Ladd. Oh boy! The odds were against Tully from the start. JYD holding gold in Mid South just seems right. Damn! Willaims and Nikita more than deliver and brother they had their working boots on. Williams pulls it out and that stare down at the end said it all. Ok, let's see if Watts can follow that. Things are on the right track as Muta opens with an exciting win over Santo. Rogers is the type of guy that will get his opponent over and defiantly gets the job done with Benoit. Duggan gets the first earth shattering pop of the night by beating Rotunda for the TV title in an exciting finish. Murdoch roughs Vader up but Woman is the deciding factor as Vader moves up another notch. Ellering and Jake will be money just on promos alone. Genius booking putting these two together. We get a DQ finish but Ellering and the slithering snake give the fans plenty to cheer about. This feud could be legendary. Who wouldn't want to see 2 muscled up powerhouses taking on 2 huge monsters for the tag titles? Herc and Scott take down the disasters and are holding gold. The main event is full of drama and leaves everyone wondering. Luger and Brown throw everything they got at each other and battle to a double co. What's going on with Woman? How will Watts react? Are Jarrett and Brown going to walk quietly back to the AWA? So much intrigue. It's a hard one to call. Both Ladd and Watts delivered stellar shows. I guess in the end, the fans are the true winners. Great job Kev!

What a way to kick off the show! It's a miracle that Madril even showed up with all the injuries he suffered LOL. I loved the angle here with Tugboat and Plowboy. Thatcher's reaction to all this was icing on the cake. Tommy puts it all on the line against his cousins. Not sure Travis is as confident. Desperados and Thunderfoots in a triple bull rope match is Twin States at its best. Fuller better get ready because the wrath of Brad is coming! The main event was pure entertainment and so much fun. Loved it! We get the huge blow off as the big men's masks come off for the shocking revealing. I can't wait for Olympia vs. Madril, one on one. Bring on the Chamber of Horrors!
-
Kelowna Great suplex finishing sequence by Severn. Loved that powerhouse tag match. Akira proves he's still a major threat. Nice crowd pleasing win for Burke. The Diamond Exchange might have a title shot very soon. Once again the LHW title match steals the show. Pillman is rock'n that title! San Diego Battleground is going to be epic! Those 2 matches alone guarantee a sell out.
-
Sid and Simmons! Bring it on! I would love to see Owen and Pillman go at it in a show stealing match. Backlund can't stands no more. It's all on the line for Young and Anvil. This has been a great storyline. Sawyers are having a pretty good run. The Pride might want to move on from Furnas. Damn good battle royal! Very well written. It was fun seeing all the rivalries go at it. Cool finish with some friction from Windham. The bottom line is we're going to get an absolute classic for the title between Bock and Hennig. Vancouver Rose beats his rival Finlay, thanks to the Club. Props to Hito for doing his job so well. Very reliable soldier. I know Barr relished that win. Things are really heating up between St. Clair and Payne. Wild six man tag that has an even wilder finish. Is Red slowly losing it? Just like his brother Owen, Bret takes Bock to his limits. However, Bock regains composure to retain. With all these hard title defenses, I wonder how much this will take out of Bock by Battleground.
-
Bam Bam finally gets his shot! This will bring in the money! Road Warriors vs. Slater and Orton is a dream match for me. The Poffo/Savage story is getting some serious momentum. Steamboat, RnR, Jimmy Jam, and the Rockers in one match! YES! Not only do you have some heated main event angles going, but your undercard is full of great stuff. Casey as the street fight champ, Jayhawks and Renegade Warriors, Nasties and Badd Co. All sorts of fun!
-
Only fitting that the Monsters retain in a tag battle royal on a Halloween themed show. I've always had a hard time writing battle royals, so I'm impressed with your easy to read write up. Well done. Starr beats Chase in a good seasons match. Pardue starts off strong but Winnona finds her groove to retain. The aggressiveness at the beginning shows the importance of the TV title. Richter vs. Misty Blue is a solid match up. Going for the US title really elevates it. Once again, Richter is holding gold, but she had to earn it. I've really enjoyed the subtle build to the Medusa/Velvet main event. They give the fans a competitive and clean match until Medusa pulls out a slight heel move to retain. You've got a great story going here and I believe there's a lot more to tell. Really fun card!

AWA releases Tim Patterson
-
These cards are stacked! Both Ladd and Watts are going all out. Ladd might have the edge with those barn burner feuds to blow off. On the flip side, Watts throws a massive curveball with the title vs. title main event. And let's not forget Dibiase vs. Jake! Halloween will be a dream wrestling day for the fans. I know I can't wait!

Lance Russell: Hello everyone and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight you'll see Nick Busick defend the TV title against Earthquake Ferris. Scott Putski takes on current rival Phil Hickerson. National Champs the Technicians will face Professor Ash's Honor Roll. If the Honor Roll wins, they will get a title shot. If the Technicians win, Ash must leave town and the Honor Roll must disband. Fans, before we get to our opening tag team match, please welcome out Jerry "The King" Lawler. Lawler acknowledges the huge pop and heads over. Lance: A lot to talk about Jerry. After what went down in your world title bout with Bad News Brown, Jerry Jarrett has quickly signed a rematch. Fans, listen to this. That rematch for the world title will take place on Friday November 11th, right here on live TV! Mega pop! Lance: Hold on a sec, there's a bit of a twist. I was recently informed that Jerry Jarrett has been in some very discreet meetings with UWF president Bill Watts. I understand that AWA world champ Bad News Brown will face UWF champ Lex Luger in a title vs. title match at the UWF's Halloween Havoc. Boy, I'm still taking this all in. I've also been told that no matter the outcome, Jerry Lawler will still get a world title shot on November 11th. A lot to process here Jerry. Lawler: It sure is Lance. However, the bottom line is I will still get that golden opportunity. Brown and I still have unfinished business and I would love to get that resolved. But, if things don't go so well for him at Halloween Havoc, then I'll be more than happy to see Luger in the ring. The end result will be the same... Boos as Frenchy Martin leads his Quebec Coalition out. Frenchy: De problem with you Lawler, is you talk to much. De fans want to see de Quebec Coalition in action and you are in de way. In other words, get lost! Lawler steps towards Frenchy but the Quebec Coalition attack him! The Quebecs pound away on Lawler and hurl him in the ring. They double suplex Lawler. Charland picks up Lawler and hits an inverted piledriver as Lefon swings off the ropes and follows with a senton. Quebecs stand tall as Frenchy waves the Quebec flag over Lawler's body. BOOOOOOOOS! Commercial Break "The Z-Man" Tom Zenk vs. Harold Bannister The fans need a pick up and Zenk gives them one. Zenk excites the crowd and wins the match with a superkick! Commercial Break "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko vs. Neil Jordan Larry's his usual arrogant and pompous self and wins the match with a swinging neckbreaker. Resnick: Larry Zbyszko, you and Al Perez have been going at it and trading wins all across the AWA arenas. I've been told that on November 12th at the Rupp Arena, you guys will wrestle once again and this time, the winner will get an AWA International title shot at SuperClash 2. Larry: You know Resnick, it's about damn time that I get a title shot. Looks like Jerry Jarrett finally woke up. As for you Alvin, you've been a thorn in my side long enough. Time to finish you off and move on to way bigger and way better things. Commercial Break Scott "Powerhouse" Putski vs. Phil Hickerson w/Norvell Austin These two have been at each other since Putski aligned with the Glamour Boys. Tonight is no different as they hammer away on each other. Putski starts to get the upper hand. Norvell hops on the apron, but Putski swings back and sends Norvell flying with a back elbow. Phil staggers around as Putski puts him down with a clothesline 1..2..Kick Out. It's all Putski until he goes for a back drop and Phil, kicks him hard. Phil breaks all the rules as he punishes Putski. Phil slams Putski and follows with a standing leg drop 1..2..Kick Out. Phil spends to much time arguing with the Ref. Phil picks up Putski and swings him to the ropes, he misses a clothesline, Putski swings back and puts Phil down with a dropkick. Phil staggers up as Putski scoop slams him down. Putski hops on the middle ropes and crashes down with a knee drop 1..2..Kick Out. Norvell jumps on the apron. Putski runs over and grabs him. Putski lifts Norvell off his feet. Phil staggers up, reaches in his pants and pulls out a pair of brass knuckles. Phil runs over and nails the back of Putski's head. Phil hides the brass knuckles and covers 1..2..3! Norvell shakes the cobwebs, gets in the ring and puts the boots to a lifeless Putski. Commercial Break Saturday, December 31st. St. Paul Civic Center Live on Pay Per View Lance Russell is standing in front of a SuperClash 2 banner. Lance: Fans, the AWA's biggest event of the year is coming. I'm talking about SuperClash 2. As you heard last week, Joan Jett will get things going with the National Anthem. I can also tell you that the previous night on the TV special Clash Countdown, there will be a tag team battle royal. The winners will get a National Tag Team title shot the next night at SuperClash. And listen to this. Several sponsors for the AWA have gotten together to put on a million dollar lottery match. Here's how that will work. 2 AWA names will be selected from a lottery pool. The two names selected will wrestle for one million dollars at SuperClash. You talk about a life changing match. The names will be drawn on TV in a couple weeks. SuperClash 2 is shaping up to be the greatest night in AWA history. Commercial Break Uncommon Alliance vs. Vic Dutro and Willie Lopez Kirchner executes a backbreaker on Lopez and holds him as Barr comes off the middle ropes with a knee to the chest for the win. Barr swings his bull rope around as Kirchner waves the American Flag. Commercial Break AWA International Champ "Marvelous" Mike George w/Greg Gagne vs. Clyde Putnam George spends the match toying with his opponent before finishing him off with a Russian Leg Sweep! Gagne jumps up and down in celebration before handing George the title. Bruce Hart, Gama Singh and Venomous join them at ringside. Resnick: Looks like you've formed quite a stable Greg, Gagne: Very observant Resnerd. Just look at these specimens. Gagne's Gang is unbeatable. Resnick: We'll soon find that out. Polynesian Power are gunning for Venomous. Gama: Let me stop you right there! Those savages are nowhere near the caliber of Venomous! Resnick: Ok, what about you Bruce Hart. Just what is your problem with Mando Guerrero. Hart: I'll tell you what my problem with him is. All I keep hearing is what a dynasty the Guerrero family is. That makes me laugh. Everybody knows the Hart family is the only dynasty in wrestling. No way a Guerrero can beat a Hart. That stooge Mando is going to find that out! Resnick: As for you Mike George. In 2 weeks at the Rupp Arena, you'll be defending the International title against Steve Keirn. George: (looks at Gagne with a puzzled look) Steve Keirn? Really? That's the best the AWA can come up with? Gagne: (laughing) I know, he's a joke. Just like Polynesian Power and just like Mando Guerrero. Come on Resnerd! Get with it! We're so out of here. Commercial Break Special Challenge Match AWA National Tag Team Champs The Technicians vs. The Honor Roll w/Professor Bill Ash Ash comes out alone wearing a cap and gown. He stops and looks back. Out come Kevin Kelly and Rip Morgan wearing black gowns. Their hair styles are slicked back into ponytails. Ash nods in approval. Technicians come out wearing their matching wrestling singlets and titles around their waists. The opening minutes is all Technicians as they simply outwrestle the Honor Roll with quick tags and take downs. Honor Roll get in some moments but nothing serious. They just can't seem to get things together. Ash starts to look worried when the Technicians get into a groove. They hit a double backbreaker on Kelly. Rheingans applies the Boston Crab! Ash starts yelling up at Morgan and says "Trust me" Morgan runs across the ring and slaps Fleming. Fleming runs in as Morgan back pedals. The Ref guides Fleming back. Ash yells "NOW!" to Morgan. Morgan runs up and nails Rheingans with a boot to the head! Kelly rolls over on top. The Ref turns around and counts 1..2..3 as Morgan holds Fleming off. The Honor Roll did it! They beat the National tag champs! Ash and Morgan help Kelly out of the ring to celebrate. Ash is pointing to his head and saying "I'm a genius!" Commercial Break We come back and see Brenda Britton standing on a street corner. Britton: Hi everybody! The day has finally arrived! After months of worrying, seeking and searching, I've finally found Gerry Morrow! I can't contain myself! I'm so excited! Today, I take Gerry home. What a journey this has been. Come on, let's get Gerry. The camera follows Brenda as she walks down the street, to a park, then suddenly stops as she looks over at a bench. Brenda: It can't be him. It can't be. Oh no. Oh Gerry. The camera zooms in on the bench. Gerry is sleeping there. His hair's a mess, he's unshaven and unkept. He's wearing a dirty white tank top and camouflage pants with no shoes. There's several empty bottles in brown paper bags all around him. Brenda starts to walk up, then stops. Brenda: (tears up) I can't, I just can't! As Brenda runs away she yells "Tooodles" Commercial Break AWA TV Title Bout Nick Busick (C) vs. Earthquake Ferris w/The Vin Man The bell rings and these two big men go toe to toe. BILLY JACK STRONG hits the ring and nails Busick with a double axehandle to the back. Billy stomps away on Busick. Ferris staggers up and joins in. They swing Busick to the ropes and double clothesline him down. Massive cheers as DJ PETERSON hits the ring with a chair and cleans house. DJ tends to Busick. Ferris pulls Vinnie out of the ring. Billy grabs Busick's TV title and holds it up as the fans boo. Winner of the Match by DQ and still AWA TV champ- Nick Busick Commercial Break Resnick: Wow, what a show.... Wild cheers as Jerry Lawler comes back out. Lawler: Ken, before I get to my world title shot, I have a little matter to settle with Frenchy Martin and the Quebec Coalition. I've talked to the powers that be and it's on. Next week, the Quebec Coalition will face myself and a partner of my choosing. You made a big mistake Frenchy and next week you pay for it! Oh, this is going to be good.

I really like your TV format with competitive matches. NWA better take notice because Col. Debeers is on the scene! The tag team division is red hot. The Bees and Cubanos prove this. The Bees should be in the title hunt very soon. Mega Man takes down the monster Jason as he rises up that ladder again. Adias takes TV champ Smiley to the limit and I'm sure we're going to get more. Looked like Debeers wasn't fond of the good sportsmanship. LOL, the Landel/Abby match went down exactly how it should have. Very smart and logical booking. Props to Street for holding his own against Brody. No shame in that performance. Worldwide, Radiance shows off their impressive teamwork. Manny and Dundee get in quality TV time. Oh yea, can't wait to see Smiley defend against the Candyman. Sherri gets the heat going with the Islanders. More exciting Starrcade Cup matches ahead.
-
The TV show did a great job promoting this Monday's card. Vic Steamboat is really making a name for himself here. Tensions are rising between the Movement and Russians. Cool heels vs. heels storyline. Madril was having a lot of fun until Olympia pulled one over on him with the contract LOL. I'm glad Bob Armstrong addressed his army phase. Now he's ready to move on. Rich's put it all on the line. Is Tommy's shirt a spoiler alert? Birmingham, Wow, thanks to Madril, Hart gets his biggest win in Twin States over Olympia. LOL, Madril once again finds a creative way to end a match. Damn, Embry really puts a stamp on Uptown's departure. Poor Dennis, I really thought things were going to work out for him here. Whatley's brilliance gives the Movement a title shot. I've always loved your masked men feuds. Davey and Johnny keep their names and win back the titles! Awesome night for 2 out of the 3 Rich's. Night ends on a sour note as Fuller brings legit heat with a fireball! I will never get bored of the Armstrong/Fuller feud.

AWA @ The Market Square Arena, Indianapolis IN, 10-22-87 "Dynamite" DJ Peterson defeated Salvatore Bellomo with a diving shoulder tackle from the top rope "The Quebec Coalition w/Frenchy Martin defeated Uncommon Alliance- Uncommon Alliance was well ahead on points until Frenchy hit Barr's back with the Quebec Flag. As Barr stumbled forward, Charland cradled him for the tainted win. "The Z-Man" Tom Zenk defeated "The Vin Man" Vinnie Valentino- Vinnie went in thinking he was the better man. However, Zenk proved him wrong by putting him down with a superkick for the crowd pleasing win. The Glamour Boys vs. The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin This match brought the heat and excitement. Both teams tore into each other at a fever pace, showing off tremendous teamwork and high offensive double team maneuvers. Norvell got his interference in but it wasn't enough. In the end, Simpson sent Condrey into Rose with a dropkick. Doll then rolled up Rose for the pin! Big POP! Afterwards, Norvell and the Midnights were furious and wanted more, but thought twice when the Glamour Boys invited them back in the ring. Crusher Blackwell vs. Tony Atlas It seems that Blackwell got tired of the Bruise Brothers odds and wanted to even things up. Atlas decided he was going to put an end to this tonight. These two pretty much just clubbed away at each other. Atlas took control and showed off his impressive strength by slamming Blackwell down. Atlas went for a splash but Blackwell put his knees up. Blackwell staggered up and dropped a big elbow on Atlas for the pin. Moments later, Blackwell was leaving but Atlas grabbed a chair and blasted Blackwell over his head with it. "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez/Mando Guerrero and The British Bombers vs. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko/"The Calgary Flame" Bruce Hart/Gama Singh and AWA International Champ "Marvelous" Mike George w/Greg Gagne This was a wild one that went over 30 minutes. Everybody had their working boots on and they all got a chance to shine. Perez and Zbyszko really went at each other hard. Things got crazy in the end with a pier six brawl. Gagne tried to interfere but was double clotheslined by the Bombers. During all the chaos, Mando put Hart down with a flying body press for the win! Afterwards, George helped Gagne up, grabbed his International title and was heard saying "Don't worry Greg, this is what it's all about" AWA World Tag Team Title Bout The Bruise Brothers (Snowman and Cameron) (C) vs. Matt Borne and Rip Oliver With these 4 guys involved, the match was a hard hitting slugfest. Oliver and Borne proved they were a serious threat and had the champs in trouble several times. On the flip side, the Bruise Brothers reminded them why they're holding the gold and just how strong they are. 20 minutes in, the Ref takes a bump. Oliver takes out Snowman with flying forearm blast from the middle ropes. Borne suplexes Cameron and goes to the top rope. TONY ATLAS runs out and pushes Borne off the top rope. Oliver runs out and pounds away on Atlas. Inside the ring, the Bruise Brothers regroup, swing Borne to the ropes and put him down with double axe handles to the head. The Ref wakes up in time to make the 3 count. Winners of the match and still AWA World Tag Team Champs- The Bruise Brothers AWA World Title Bout Bad News Brown (C) vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler These guys just recently crossed paths but things have gotten very heated very fast. As soon as the bell rang, fists were flying. Lawler got off to a good start and had Brown reeling. Brown came back with a vengeance and took it to Lawler. The tide turned several times as they exchanged slams, clotheslines, suplexes and a lot of punches. After all that, they went at each other with a furious exchange. They fought to the outside and eventually both men were counted out. The bell kept ringing but they kept fighting. They fought all over the place for another few minutes until a swarm of security had to break them up. Official Ruling- A Double C.O.- Bad News Brown is still the AWA World Champ

Uptown is struggling against Downtown. Ross wins one for USA. HAHAHA! Visualizing the Movement just walking out on the Intern just cracks me up. I'm sure Tugboat had something to do with Madril's DQ. Ron Fuller couldn't ask for better henchmen than the Starrs. If Fuller is on the same card with the Armstrong's, expect interference.

Winnona keeps her momentum going. She's bringing a fresh look to the TV title. If the odds are there, you have to try and use them against Richter. This shows how good and intimidating Richter is. I wonder if Medusa and Velvet were paying attention to the Brown/Kennedy match. Peterson looks good in her seasons win. Medusa and Velvet play it safe but it's only a matter of time before they have to make contact. Very interesting storylines going on which will bring in the fans. Good job.

You can always count on Koko to get the crowd warmed up. Nasties vs. Badd Co. is a great thinking out of the box match up. Can't wait for more. Wild Bill and Black Bart have been great additions to the Jayhawks/Renegade's feud. I love how Scott Casey has really gotten over here. RnR and the Rockers tear the house down! Great booking on the finish that gets even better with the post match chair assault. This feud is awesome! Steamboat and Jimmy Jam give the fans a show. We get a major swerve with Lanny turning on his brother. This is getting good! The 10 man massacre was nothing short of epic! Your write up was so well done and easy to follow, which is hard to do with a match like this. I love the Spivey story and how he makes that last minute burst to help Bigelow take down Harley for the incredible win. You've worked wonders putting together this stacked roster.

I have a feeling Sid will soon rule the world. Severn and Snow go the limit and show mutual respect. Damn! I think Todd Morton might be dead. Don't mess with the Diamond Exchange. Smothers beats Lane in a show stealing match. OMG sends a strong message to Windham. Anvil and Young finally come to blows. Backlund taking them back by their necks cracked me up. LA, Big Cat has one of the most devastating finishers in Pacific. Brigade take down the Playboy Club's henchmen. Excellent teamwork by the Midnight's. Oh man I want to see more Haynes/Cactus brawls. Backlund suffers a rare pin at the hands of Super Strong Machine. Looking forward to their future encounters. As others have said, Bock and Owen is a hot match. Bock was always great at elevating younger talent. Santa Barbara, Finlay gets the win in a hard hitting opener. Anvil shows Tatum that he has a lot of go to moves. Tiger scores the fall in a fun and wild 6 man tag. With a lot of monsters in Pacific, Payne's gunning for that top spot. Furnas picks up a strong win over Rick Gantner. Jack takes TV champ Ed Gantner to the limit. With a little more time, Jack might've won the title. I believe he's earned a rematch. I love your battle royal tradition. Will the winner be able to dethrone Bock? We'll find out in San Diego.

That's followed by footage from the Freeman Coliseum as Abbuda brutally beats up Tim Patterson and even flips over the stretcher he was on. Resnick: Fans, I can tell you that Carlos Colon is still undergoing treatment in the hospital. That was one of the most terrifying and evil acts I've ever seen perpetrated. I really wish Carlos a speedy recovery. (Deep Breath) Joining me now are Curtis Iaukea and his son Abbuda. Massive boos Resnick: I have to say Curtis, that was low even for you. Carlos Colon has suffered severe burns and that young prospect Tim Patterson is in the hospital with a broken back. Totally uncalled for! I can't believe a father would have his own son commit horrible acts like that. Curtis: (maniacal laugh) How little you know. My son Abbuda has been to the deepest and darkest places of the earth. He's taken great pleasure in learning the most agonizing torture techniques known to man. To do this, he himself went through the torture himself! And he loved it! It is now time to release him on the AWA. Carlos Colon fell victim to him and I can't tell you how proud I am of my son. I can now unleash the wickedness I've always dreamed of. Abbuda shows the camera a brick before breaking it over his head. Resnick: My goodness! Both Iaukea's let out a maniacal laugh before leaving. Now, I'm very pleased to announce that none other than Joan Jett will kick things off with the National Anthem. Join the AWA for the biggest New Year's Eve party ever, SuperClash 2. BOOS as Professor Bill Ash strolls out. Ash: Relax everybody, I'm out here to simply issue a friendly challenge. On behalf of my Honor Roll, I would like to challenge the National champs to a match next week. Resnick: With all due respect Professor, your team hasn't won a match yet. Why do you think they deserve a title shot? Ash: I have worked out all their kinks and want to prove to the world that they are indeed the total sum of a tag team. Here's what I propose. If we win, we will get a title shot. Rheingans: And if we win? Ash: My team will disband for good and I will leave the AWA. Fleming: Are you sure about this? Ash: No doubt in my mind. Do we have a deal? The Technicians talk it over. Rheingans: We never back away from a challenge. So, it's a deal. Ash bows and walks away. Ok, this weekend at the Market Square Arena, Bad News Brown defends the world title against Jerry Lawler. With me now is Jerry Lawler. Lawler: Ken, I said last week, there's nothing better than being world champion. I want that title back bad and this weekend I'm going to get it. Boos as Bad News Brown comes out with the title on his shoulder. Brown: First of all, I'm the champ and I'm the one who should be talking right now. Resnick, you leech, don't ever make that mistake again! As for you Lawler. Do you really think you're going to waltz right in and take this here title from me? Is that what you think you little cockroach? Lawler: That's the name of the game. Brown: You make me laugh. I watched you get beat up by Baby Doll. A woman! That's the level you're on. The crowd's going nuts as both men start pounding away on each other. The viewers get a good minute of fighting before the show ends.

I'm liking the Spartanburg/New Breed feud. The tag team division is red hot and every team has something to do. Slick and Parsons vent their frustrations out on Grappler 2. Stud Stable pull off another tainted win, but the exciting Japanese duo is getting over as a team. Siva holds his own against Smiley until Radiance spoils everything. Looks like the start of another hot tag feud. Distractions are in full throttle as Haystacks puts down Arn. We'll see how JJ and Arn rebound from this. The American Dream defeats The Soul Man in the battle of fan favorites. Dusty's riding high on momentum right now. Worldwide, Good showcases that put over some solid finishers. Adias gets another crack at the TV title. I can't wait to see how Landel deals with Abby.

Thatcher suspends the Outlaws while Deaton's slip up doesn't help their cause. I have no idea who these Lone Desperados are (wink wink) but they're off to a great start. Looks like Dennis has finally had enough and even puts his title shot on the line. Plowboy is given the eulogy of a lifetime. Poor Madril and Johnny V were so upset they forgot Plowboy's last name several times LOL. The Fiesta Garden was at an all time high tonight. Olympia now has Tugboat Ramirez to worry about. Great segment with the Rich's and Travis. Tommy pays his respects with a wonderful T- Shirt. Him mistaking Plowboy for Manny was hilarious. The Starrs are set to take the Nightmares out. That no good Bruno uses powder to embarrass and cost Dennis the match and his title shot. Birmingham, I'm happy Vic Steamboat won the battle royal. Nice! Dennis finally gets some sweet payback with the powder! Looks like we're going to get more Nightmares/Starrs matches. Oh yea! Madril wins one for his old best friend. I knew Olympia was in trouble when he interrupted the moment of silence. Bruno helps the champs retain. I guess no more title shots for Johnny and Davey. I can only hope we get a Tommy/Bruno promo. Armstrong's win the match but all hell breaks loose afterwards. Mega heat to end a great night of action.

Abbuda Iaukea w/Curtis Iaukea defeated Tim Patterson- Abbuda hit 3 brutal backbreakers then finished things off with the Camel Clutch. After the match, Abbuda hoisted the lifeless Patterson up and tortured him with the Argentine backbreaker. Moments later, the medics were in the process of taking Patterson out on a stretcher when Abbuda flipped over the stretcher and beat him with a kendo stick. Curtis laughed the entire time with delight. Mega heat for the Iaukea's. Scott "Powerhouse" Putski defeated Phil Hickerson w/Norvell Austin by DQ due to interference from Norvell. Putski regrouped quickly and sent Hickerson through the ropes with a polish hammer, then grabbed Norvell and powerslammed him. AWA International Title Bout "Marvelous" Mike George (C) w/Greg Gagne vs. Crusher Blackwell After 10 minutes, Blackwell had George pinballing all over the place with slams, back drops and clotheslines. Gama Singh ran out to distract the Ref. Blackwell hits a corner avalanche, then pulls George out and hoists him up for a vertical suplex but Gagne reached in and tripped Blackwell. George falls on top, Gagne holds onto Blackwell's boots as the Ref runs over and counts 1..2..3! BOOOOOOO! I think the fans are getting tired of the constant interference by Gagne and Gama. Winner of the match and still AWA International Champ- Mike George "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez vs. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko Once again these guys deliver a solid 30 minute classic. Both men are on their A games tonight and the action is a roller coaster ride. Larry has momentum going and swings Perez into the corner. Larry charges in but Perez moves. Larry staggers back and struggles to gain his balance. Perez hooks him and executes a quick back slide 1..2..3! Big POP!
