  1. The new version of the Golden Guns get a proper showcase. Starr sends a painful message to the champs Coast to Coast. I'll say it again, Cornette has worked wonders for Christopher. Oh Yea! Anvil and St. Clair brawl! Damn, I love this feud! The Force of July have become one of my favorite teams in the game. What a unit! Backlund is coming back with a vengeance. Hennig better be on high alert. LA, The Destruction Crew are hell bent on making a name for themselves as they continue to go toe to toe with the Midnights. I like what you're doing with Payne. He may drop matches here and there but he's always built as a monstrous threat. Singh fits in so well with the NoE. A big difference maker. Bulldozer's Prime Time Slam is over. Just ask Malenko. LOL, the hair spray is the perfect weapon. It looks like the SCS have earned themselves a shot at Coast to Coast. WOW! Hart vs. Sawyer in a dog collar match! That alone would get my money. Hart finally puts a cap on Sawyer, and brother he earned it. Another fantastic feud. Give the booker a raise. Santa Barbara, Pierre gets the shining moment in a wild 8 man tag. Fun way to start the night. Anvil gets a brutal win. Poor Perez, hard week. Since returning with the Demon moniker, Steamboat has been red hot. Widowmaker proves he's still a serious contender. Wild Things ruin the Golden State tag title match. I'm sure both British Steel and Muscle Beach were pretty pissed. Pillman retains over Malenko. What a match to end the night. I'm going to Vegas baby! Pillman vs. Cheetah, Hennig vs. Windham in a cage! AND, the always exciting tag tournament. The winners of the last two have received serious pushes, so this is a big deal.
  2. The stage for Triumph is set! Muta is clearly becoming a superstar but he has a big test in front of him with Snuka. The Road Warriors and Twin Towers feud has been burning and it will explode at Triumph. I love the intrigue going on with Konnan, the Conquistadors and Pegasus. I'm still trying to figure all this out. I'm sure it'll all come together at Triumph. Z-Man and Ace get their moment. Can they upset the Rockers? If they don't, the Rockers have a lot more teams gunning for them. Trouble brewing between Sabu and Taz. Rhodes made a great choice with Bigelow. Him and Race have history in Chicago. Steamboat, Savage and the Freebirds have a serious feud going. Only Mr. T can control this. I pity the fools. The build to Triumph has been awesome. Can't wait for the blow off.
  3. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 3-24-88 Footage from the Mayo Civic Center is shown as Richard Charland defeats Corporal Kirchner is the Boot Camp Match. Nelson: Hello fans and welcome to AWA Major League Wrestling. Tonight's main event is a big one as Johnny Rich clashes with the Dream Machine. The fans cheer as Colon walks out wearing a nice three piece suit. He smiles and pumps his fists to the cheering crowd. Nelson: At Title Night in your homeland of Puerto Rico, you and Bad News Brown had one heck of a fight. Brown's plan of hitting you with the ringside bell backfired when the bell ended up in your hands and you really clocked him with it. Well, the rematch is set for Champagne Slam. Colon: I was good on my word when I told Brown I was coming to fight. That was just a taste because at Champagne Slam.... There's a commotion as Bad News Brown walks out in his suit (buttons down, gold chains showing) and the title on his shoulder. Brown: Colon! You come out here talking about what a fighter you are. It took a ringside bell to put me down, but here I am. It's going to take a lot more than that to take me out and take this here title. I'm looking you right in the eye and I'm calling you soft! You're nothing but a cockroach and I'm going wipe the mat with you at Champagne Slam! Brown puts his fist in Colon's face and pushes his head back. Colon's pissed and pushes Brown hard and the title falls on the ground. Brown hits Colon. Colon fires back. Both men start brawling in their suits. They have a wild exchange! They rip each other's jackets and shirts off and continue to fight. A swarm of security run out as they continue to go after each other. Commercial Break Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami vs. Wade Jenkins and James Beck After trading wins in 2 classic match ups, the Former AWA world tag champs are back together and gearing up for this year's NWA Crockett Cup Tournament. No doubt about it, last year's Crockett Cup winners, Tatsumi and Jumbo are ready to do it again. Commercial Break 'Gentleman' Chris Adams w/Baby Doll vs. Todd Rooney Adams puts down Rooney with the Superkick! Nelson: Chris Adams, you saw Nikita Koloff last week and I must say, I wouldn't want to be you at Champagne Slam. Adams: You know, everybody in wrestling has told me that Nikita Koloff is a monster that destroys everything in his path. That he's a freak force. Commercial Break Scott 'Powerhouse' Putski vs. Tommy Hill Putski swings Hill to the ropes and puts him down with the Polish Hammer for the win! WHAM! Norvell Austin and Cannonball Griz jump Putski and put the boots to him! Griz hoists Putski up and powerslams him over. Norvell tells Griz to do it again. Griz smiles, hoists Putski up and powerslams him over. Boos as Norvell raises Griz's arm in victory. Commercial Break Brenda Britton is standing in her Beauty Shop stage. Instead of the Beauty Shop sign, there's a sign with a sparkling champagne bottle. Britton: Hi everybody and welcome to the Champagne Slam segment. Joining me now is my best friend and AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow. Morrow walks out in his white suit, fedora hat and sunglasses. He smiles and kisses Brenda's hand. Britton: Oh Gerry, so classy. Per your request, I would like to invite out Richard Charland and Frenchy Martin. Booooos as Frenchy comes out waving the Quebec Flag. Charland's wearing a glitter blue robe with the Quebec flag on the back. They both shake Morrow's hand. Britton: Floor's yours Gerry. Morrow: Thank you Brenda. (Looks at Frenchy) Frenchy, you and I go way back and I know you're going to love dis. (Looks at Charland) Mr. Charland, I can't tell you how impressed I was when you beat Corporal Kirchner in de boot camp match. It was then when it came to me. At Champagne Slam, I would like you to face de Ultimate Warrior. I want to find out if de Warrior has what it takes to compete in de AWA. What do you guys say? Frenchy: Without hesitation we accept! Dis Warrior is nothing but hype. Richard Charland is de pride of Quebec and a wrecking machine! Dis Warrior will be a one and done in de AWA. That's a promise! Charland makes a break him in half gesture. They shake hands with Morrow and exit. Morrow: There you go Brenda. At Champagne Slam it will be de Ultimate Warrior vs. Richard Charland. Britton: Wow! I think Charland is going to tear that cartoon character up. Morrow: We will most certainly find out. I have also signed Chicky Starr vs. Al Perez. Chicky asked for it and Perez accepted. Simple as dat. Now, last week I announced de 10 man tag match with a special stipulation. I've decided to make it an elimination match. Let's see who survives. Britton: Dang Gerry, Champagne Slam has quite the line up. As if that wasn't enough, I understand you have news on the tag team tournament. Morrow: Oh yes I do. On April 1st, right here at de Hammond Center, de toast to our tag teams tournament will take place. De winners will get a spot in de Crockett Cup tournament as well as a two week vacation to anywhere in de world. There are a lot of teams with issues and I've matched them up in de first round. Brenda: Gerry, so much going on in the AWA and it's all thanks to you! Until next time, tooooodles. Commercial Break AWA TV Champ Larry Zbyszko vs. Rudy Allen Zbyszko wins the match with a swinging neckbreaker. Nelson: Well Larry, you got your wish, at Champagne Slam, it's you and Mid-America champ Austin Idol, title versus title. Zbyszko: Hey spudhead, you know what's better than holding a title? Holding two. And that's exactly what's going to happen after Idol goes down in Larry Land. Commercial Break Nick Busick vs. Ray Glader Busick's back on TV and the fans are loving it. Busick hits the Spinebuster Slam and it's all over! Nelson: Nick Busick, great to have you back. It's obvious your shoulder is 100% and I know you're ready for Kokina at Champagne Slam. Does the Abbuda Iaukea equation change anything? Busick: It's great to be back and to answer your question, I don't care who else is around, doesn't matter because I'm after Kokina... Boos as Abbuda Iaukea comes out. Abbuda: You better care! Kokina is the most violent savage in the AWA and with me, he'll be unstoppable! Kokina comes rushing out and charges Busick from behind, but Busick's Instincts are on and he moves as Kokina slams into Abbuda! Busick's all over Kokina with punches. Abbuda staggers up as Busick swings Kokina into him. Commercial Break 'The Latin Heartthrob' Al Perez and Synergy vs. Chicky Starr and Badd Co. w/DDP Fun fast paced seesaw match where everybody shines. We see a lot of great teamwork, high octane offense and interference from DDP. After a few minutes there's a pier six brawl. Synergy hit stereo flying presses on Badd Co. which sends all of them over the top rope. DDP tosses Chicky a pair of brass knuckles. Chicky takes a wild swing at Perez but Perez ducks and executes a bridging back suplex 1..2..3! The fans pop while DDP throws a tantrum. 4. Jaggers found out that Morgan is truly a monster. I agree with LTS, the Arkansas line cracked me up. Radiance gets a good showcase. I'll admit, I'm a big fan of these guys. Lightfoot is in full heel mode tonight and it looks like we're going to get another hot feud. After that promo, Debeers might be thinking twice about going after Brody. Fun TV main event with an exciting finish. You did a great job of tying in all the personal issues here. Worldwide, Borne breaks out the Stump Puller. Always loved that name. Add 'Just a swingin neckbreaker' and 'Machine Lariat' to the list. Jimmy Jam gets a solid win and cuts another charismatic promo. He's too cool. The Crockett Cup is heating up. This event is so unique because it's the only time of the year where all the promotions get to battle it out. Can't wait!
  5. These house shows are so much fun! Cody has the momentum going while Knighton seems to be slowly unraveling. After just a week, Dundee is over. Renesto is another guy looking to make a splash. Ash keeps bringing more heat, week after week. Amazing what you've done with him. I like that Reno/Wolf-Tojo/Headhunter have traded wins in some wild brawls. Keeps this feud red hot. Plowboy's having the time of his life. The set up to the Ash/Rose 60 minute match was so well done. Then the fans get a special treat with a full 60 minute match. Rose just needed one more second, but hey at least the fans got to pelt Ash with trash. Looking forward to the big title tournament.
  6. Too Cold Scorpio has arrived! I'm getting a kick out of the Boris/Shaska alliance. Dutch gets himself a bodyguard. Makes sense to me since a psycho is after him. Poor Ron Wright. Maybe Steve Keirn can help raise some funds for him. Big Money is getting a nice shine by adding a lot to his gimmick. Rip Rogers is a pretty good guy. He just wants to make people smile. The Franchise cleans house, but I'm sure Dutch will get his payback. Boris is a very smart man. His plan works but now Keirn's involved to even things up. The plot thickens. Fun week!
  7. Reed's on a roll and Ladd's going to give us the money making title match with Luger. Damn, the Barbarians are intimidating! I know Hot Stuff Inc wants the tag titles, but Herc and Steiner better be watching out for the Barbarians. Man, Missy and Gilbert are so annoying! Give Rick some respect. No riddles, just facts. Jake's words are menacing. As usual, Woman and Luger are full of confidence. I wonder what Duggan did to piss off Super D? The man is obsessed on destroying Duggan. SWB arrives and excites. LOL, love the promo image of Murdoch. I remember these types of promos. I'm trying to figure out who Murdoch's bringing in. Steiner retains in a disappointing fashion, but the scene ends with a wild Duggan/Super D brawl. Mid South has a lot of great well built storyline feuds going on. Everybody's involved in something.
  8. AWA @ The Mayo Civic Center, Rochester MN 3-18-88 Nick Busick defeats Gene Ligon with the Spinebuster Slam! The returning Busick got a huge reaction from the crowd. Crusher Blackwell w/Greg Gagne defeated Salvatore Bellomo with a big splash! A lot of heat for Gagne. United Kingdom defeated Synergy- Synergy fought hard and gave the fans plenty of exciting moments but in the end, Taylor nailed Rice with a forearm blast from the apron, Rice then stumbled into a big belly to belly suplex by Haystacks and that was it. 'Gentleman' Chris Adams w/Baby Doll defeated Scott 'Powerhouse' Putski- Baby Doll distracted Putski, when Putski turned back around, Adams put him down with the Superkick! Adams grabbed the mic and said "You're next Nikita!" The Glamour Boys defeated Mean Streak by DQ- Frustration got the best of Mean Streak as Miller nailed Simpson with a chair for the DQ. Doll dropkicked the chair out of Miller's hands but Brian Adams picked it up and hit Doll from behind with it. Boot Camp Match! Corporal Kirchner vs. 'Quebecer' Richard Charland w/Frenchy Martin The opening minutes was a straight up fight as these two just tore into each other. Kirchner gets the upper hand and pummels Charland all over the ring and makes him bleed, then hurls him outside. As Kirchner goes after Charland, Frenchy hits Kirchner from behind. Kirchner grabs Frenchy, slams his head on the apron and follows with a back suplex on the concrete. As Kirchner gets up, Charland clotheslines him with the Quebec Flag. Charland works over Kirchner and busts him open. Charland slams Kirchner's head on the ringside table, then chokes him with a cable cord. Charland hurls Kirchner back in the ring. Charland swings Kirchner to the corner and charges in but Kirchner raises his boot and nails Charland. The fans fire Kirchner up as he takes off his boot. Charland staggers up as Kirchner blasts him with his boot. Kirchner drops down and just pounds away on Charland with his boot. Kirchner picks up Charland and executes his fireman's carry slam. Kirchner signals "one more" to the cheering fans. Kirchner hoists Charland up, but Frenchy runs in and clips Kirchner's legs. Both men crumble down. It's No DQ, so the Ref can't do anything. Frenchy puts a pair of brass knuckles on Charland's hand. Charland and Kirchner slowly stagger up. Charland takes a wild swing but Kirchner ducks and hoists Charland up but Charland swings down and nails the top of Kirchner's head with the brass knuckles. Kirchner goes down with Charland on top. Charland slowly rises, picks up Kirchner and hits the inverted piledriver 1..2..3!! BOOOOOOO! More heat as Frenchy comes back in the ring and waves the Quebec Flag while Charland puts his boot on Kirchner's chest and raises his arms in victory. The Bruise Brothers defeated The Technicians- The former world tag champs were in a bad mood tonight and the Technicians felt the wrath. The Technicians got some shine but the Bruise Brothers were just too much and got the win after putting Fleming down with stereo double axehandles to the head. 'The Latin Heartthrob' Al Perez vs. Chicky Starr w/DDP DDP once again put his mic skills to work with an introduction of Chicky along with insults to the fans. The boos turned to cheers when Perez came out. These guys had their working boots on and gave the fans an edge of the seat thrill ride. At the 30 minute mark, Starr's in control. He hits a delayed vertical suplex, swings off the ropes and goes for the corkscrew elbow drop but Perez moves. Perez goes on a terror and gets several near falls, until a trip from DDP turns the tide. Starr swings Perez to the ropes and puts him down with a double thrust shot. Starr swings Perez into the corner and charges in but Perez moves, Chicky hits hard as Perez rolls him up 1..2..3! Huge POP! DDP runs in the ring as Perez slides out. The fans laugh as DDP and Starr throw a fit.
  9. Ok, first off, the magazine cover is way too cool! It adds so much to our game. Thank you! Pat Rose is another guy who can be a top babyface here. Great to see him in IPW. LOL, when a man needs a partner, call in Plowboy! Everybody except Dark Journey is loving this. Young Jamie Dundee has arrived and I like his reasons. He'll get a big test next week. 'Wild' Bill Ash is defiantly running wild! This guy's a heat magnet. Wild brawl to end the show! I'm hoping we get a crazy gimmick match between those 4. I used to love reading the top 10 ratings in magazines, so again, way to cool! IPW has become the hottest new thing in wrestling! Keep up the great work.
  10. The tag team division here is incredible! New members arrive but Starr gets the shine. Starrburst Suplex, what a great name! St. Clair once again lives up to his nickname. Great to see Makhan Singh back in the game. He's going to thrive with the NoE. Owen and Pierre have some buzz going. Add Muscle Beach to the stacked tag division. And add them to the Playboy Club. Rose didn't waste any time LOL. Hitman barely puts Big Cat down. Cow Palace, Two Brits get the better of Cuban Assassin this week. Rose still has it. After a grueling match with Bret, no shame in losing to Haynes. It's really cool seeing territory vets Rose and Billy Jack racking up wins. Bull and Pierre is a hard hitting dream match. Even in a losing effort, the Holly's made a name for themselves. Hennig vs. Backlund, the San Fran fans got their money's worth on that one. Fresno, Anvil tunes up for St. Clair by beating his peer. The Lethal Weapons have to be considered title contenders after that win over the Malenkos. Cornette is working wonders with Christopher. Wild Things get over the Southern Boys with an exciting finish. Can't say Hall isn't tough. This is really getting him over. Sawyer and Flowers end the night with a wild win over the Harts. Man, this was an exciting week in PCW!
  11. Life gets busy but also sounds like a lot of fun. Tag team battle royal will set the stage for Triumph. I can't wait for the Road Warriors/Twin Towers collision! Race, Orton and Predator have become one gruff stable, whoever Rhodes and Spivey bring in as a partner, it will be a big moment at Triumph. Koko and Snuka win this week's round over Sabu and Taz. Rockers take a shot at the Road Warriors. More intrigue added to the Konnan/Pegasus feud. This is becoming one of my favorites in WCW. Wow! Hayes sneaks in a pin on champ Steamboat. Triumph is going to rock!
  12. AWA TV @ The Hammond Center 3-17-88 Footage from Puerto Rico's Title Night is shown. Highlights include a shocked DJ Peterson and Kevin Kelly looking at their newly won world tag titles. It ends with Carlos Colon knocking out Bad News Brown with the ringside bell. Nelson: Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another edition of AWA Major League Wrestling. Mike George has issued a challenge to Billy Jack Strong and that match happens tonight. Also, after what went down last week, the Guerreros will face current rivals the Fortunate Ones. AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow will have some major news regarding Champagne Slam. Right now, let's go to the ring. AWA Mid -American Champ Austin Idol vs. Clinton Stitch Idol gives the fans a show and finishes things off with the Las Vegas Leglock. Nelson: Austin Idol, you really made quick work of Mike George at Title Night. Right now a lot of wrestlers are gunning for your Mid-American title. Boos as TV Champ Larry Zbyszko arrogantly walks out. Zbyszko: Look here Idol, I'm going to make this real simple for a simpleton like you. You have a title and I have a title. I have guts, but the question is do you? How would you like to take a trip to Larry Land at Champagne Slam? Nelson: Ok Larry, what are you driving at? Zbyszko: You see, I knew this would be over your head Nelson, so do yourself a favor and keep your mouth shut. (Looks at Idol) What do you say we have a match at Champagne Slam, title versus title, winner take all. Come on spudhead, all it takes is guts. Idol: Oh Larry darling, all you had to do was ask. If you want to get in the ring with the universal heartthrob daddy, then I'll be more than happy to accommodate you. Commercial Break 'Crippler' Ray Stevens vs. Clyde Putnam Stevens hits the piledriver and it's all over. WHAM! Stevens is nailed from behind by RIP OLIVER! Oliver pounds, punches and stomps away on Stevens. Oliver hoists Stevens up and piledrives him down! Oliver goes to ringside. Oliver: The real crippler is back in town! Commercial Break Cannonball Griz w/Norvell Austin vs. Ray Glader Griz messes his opponent up, then picks him up and powerslams him over for the win! Nelson: Norvell, Scott Putski has a score to settle with your man Griz. Not only that, but after what the Midnight Express did to Venomous at Title night, they have a score to settle as well. Norvell: Listen to you Nelson. Talking about scores to settle. Do you think Griz is intimidated one bit by that weakling Putski. NO! He's not! And as far as I'm concerned, the Midnight Express are the uncrowned National tag champs! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, with me now is Greg Gagne, the Fortunate Ones, Crusher Blackwell and Mike George. Well, I'm sure you have something to say. Gagne: Watch your tone Nelson, I mean it. Mike and I are furious over what happened at Title Night. The way we see it, is Billy Jack Ass Strong is responsible. So, in a moment, Mike George is going to wipe the mat with that punk. What I do find joy in, is last week's beating Gagne's Gang laid on El Canek, Mando Guererro and that wannabe hero Johnny Rich. You don't mess with Gagne's Gang! That's a message for Hector and Chavo, because they're going to suffer the same fate later tonight by the Fortunate Ones. We're done Nelson! Gagne's walks away as Blackwell bumps Nelson. Billy Jack Strong vs. 'Marvelous' Mike George w/Greg Gagne The Ref makes sure Gagne's Gang is gone before signaling the bell. Gagne distracts Strong as George nails Strong from behind with a forearm blast. George works Strong over, swings him to the ropes and puts him down with a high knee 1..2..Kick Out. George vertical suplexes Strong, hops on the middle ropes and comes down with a double forearm drop 1..2..Kick Out. George swings Strong to the ropes and goes for a back drop but Strong kicks him. Strong hoists George up on the turnbuckles. Strong hops up and goes for a superplex. While he's in motion, Gagne reaches in and trips Strong. George falls on top as Gagne holds Strong's boot 1..2..3! BOOOOOO! Commercial Break Brenda Britton is standing in front of a banner with a champagne bottle. Britton: Hi everybody as you know Champagne Slam comes to you on April 15th from Market Square Arena. You already heard Gerry's blockbuster announcement that the main event will be Bad News Brown defending the AWA world title against Carlos Colon. After what we witnessed in Puerto Rico, their rematch will be off the charts! Here to announce more matches, our C.O.O. and all around great guy, Gerry Morrow. Morrow walks out in his white suit, sunglasses and white fedora hat. Morrow: As always Brenda, you are a delight. I'm a firm believer in settling issues and I hope to do so at Champagne Slam. Along with that epic main event, I have put together de following matches. Nikita Koloff vs. Chris Adams Nick Busick returns to face Kokina Ray Stevens vs. Rip Oliver in de battle of da Cripplers Cannonball Griz versus Scott Putski And because I like stakes, it will be Austin Idol vs. Larry Zbyszko in a title vs. title match And don't forget, de Ultimate Warrior will make his most anticipated AWA in ring debut. I will very carefully handpick a most qualified opponent. More matches to be announced. Morrow: Oh that's not all Brenda. As you know de AWA does business with other promotions. Our friends in de NWA are holding de annual Crockett Cup Tournament. Of course last year's winners were Jumbo Tsuruta and Tatsumi Fujinami, our AWA representatives. They did us proud and will once again be representing de AWA at dis year's event. Recently they had 2 classic matches against each other and both men scored a victory. They have nothing but respect for each other and are ready to team up again. I do have a bonus. In a couple weeks, right here in de Hammond Center, I am going to put on a Toast to our Tag Teams Tournament. De winners of de tournament will have a spot in de Crockett Cup, along with a 2 week vacation to any destination in de world. Britton: Wow Gerry, you really know how to make big announcements. You're the coolest c.o.o. in the world! Until next time, tooooodles. Commercial Break Kokina vs. Arnie Goldstein The fans are surprised when Professor Bill Ash doesn't come out with Kokina. However, they go into a stunned silence when Abbuda Iaukea comes out with Kokina! Abbuda backs up and motions for Kokina to enter the ring. Kokina storms the ring and destroys Goldstein and puts him out of his misery with the Samoan Drop! Nelson: I don't believe this! Abbuda Iaukea! Abbuda: Believe it! I have purchased the contract of the monster Kokina. The Professor is a very smart man and knew what Kokina is capable of. I will now take Kokina all the way and it starts with you Nick Busick! I will give you a way out. Save yourself and don't come back. That advice could save your life! Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, please welcome back Nikita Koloff! Huge pop as Nikita comes out wearing a face guard. Nelson: Nikita, it's obvious you're still reeling from that superkick into a chair from Chris Adams. Nikita: This is nothing! (Nikita rips the guard off his face!) I don't need this anymore! Chris Adams! You made a terrible mistake and at Champagne Slam I will take your head off with the Russian Sickle! Nikita does his trap pose with his tongue hanging out. Commercial Break AWA World Tag Team Champs 'Dynamite' DJ Peterson and 'Mr. Magnificent' Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man vs. Calvin Jones and Harold Bannister Vinnie is on cloud nine as he holds up the world titles with overwhelming pride. You can tell DJ and Kelly are still very reluctant to work together. However, they seem to put aside their animosity and get through the match. DJ hits a flying shoulder tackle from the top rope but Kelly had tagged himself in while DJ was on the turnbuckles. As DJ was making the cover, the Ref told him he wasn't the legal man. Kelly rushed in and hit the full nelson slam on the already fallen opponent 1..2..3! Nelson: I can't believe it but with me now are the new AWA world tag team champs. Vinnie, I know you're verry happy. Vinnie: I'm beyond happy Larbo! I'm elated beyond belief! DJ, Kevin, I know you guys have hated each other's guts. DJ, you and I also have had many moments. BUT! Look at these (holds up the titles) How long have you guys worked in the AWA? How often have you been overlooked? How many titles have either of you won? You guys did it! After all this time, your both champions! We did it! Kev, this is what we've always dreamed of. You two channel your anger you have with each other and take it out on your opponents. Together and united, we can make something special here. What do you guys say? Kelly: Vin Man, you're right. DJ, this is our time to shine. I'm willing to put our past behind us and start fresh. Kelly extends his hand. DJ: (ponders) You know something? I guess I can't argue with that. A wrestler's goal is to be a champion and we both finally achieved that. Ok, I'm in. DJ shakes Kelly's hand as Vinnie jumps in and hugs both of them. Commercial Break Nelson: Ok, with me now is the Dream Machine. Dream: Right now, I want to invite Johnny Rich out here. Come on Johnny Boy, get out here babay! The fans cheer as Rich comes out, still looking a little busted up from last week's beating by Gagne's Gang. Dream: You don't look so good Johnny Boy, which brings me to my point. You need friends because you've seen and felt what happens when you don't. Come with me and let's rock this place like your cousin Tommy did. Rich: Dream, you watched me get jumped by Cannonball Griz and the Midnight Express. Then you watched as Blackwell and the Fortunate Ones did a number on me. The numbers game is a huge factor here and perhaps you have a good point. But you know what? I don't need a friend like you! The fans go wild as Rich clotheslines Dream down! Rich picks up Dream and slams him down on the concrete! Rich picks up Dream and slams him into the steel post! Rich snatches the mic. Rich: You're right Dream, time to rock this place! Rich drops the mic on Dream's chest. Commercial Break The Guerreros (Hector and Chavo) vs. The Fortunate Ones w/Greg Gagne The Fortunate Ones and Gagne are in the ring heckling the Guerreros as they come up the aisle. WHAM! From behind the Guerreros are attacked by Crusher Blackwell and Mike George! The Fortunate Ones and Gagne run out and join in. Wait a minute! El Canek, Billy Jack Strong and Johnny Rich storm out and it's an all out brawl! Fists and bodies are flying everywhere into the commercial break. Commercial Break Nelson: Fans, what a chaotic scene that was! My goodness! Just a reminder, this weekend in Rochester, Corporal Kirchner and Richard Charland will fight in a bootcamp match, also on the card, Al Perez battles Chicky Starr plus much more exciting action. Wait a minute, I've just been told that at Champagne Slam, two matches have just been added. DJ Peterson and Kevin Kelly will defend the tag titles against The Bruise Brothers. Also, there will be a 10 man tag match as Crusher Blackwell, Mike George, the Fortunate Ones and Dream Machine will take on El Canek, the Guerreros, Billy Jack Strong and Johnny Rich with a special stipulation to be added by Gerry Morrow. This keeps getting better, we'll see you next week.
  13. Awesome! A TV guide ad! Very creative!
  14. Billy Joe working his good ol boy gimmick. Fuller is quickly moving his way up to top heel. Wins the Heritage title, has the "gatekeeper" watching his back and now enlists Tough Guy Inc into the stable. Good stuff! Prichard's off to an amazing start. I expect big things. Debeers puts down Macho Camacho (LOL) and cuts a heat filled promo on Brody. Say what you want about him, but Debeers has guts going after Brody. Ross and Fernandez get shining moments. Thanks to the loaded boot, Fuller stops Kaz cold. I'll say it again, you're doing an incredible job with Fuller. Worldwide, Pride, Morgan and Jaggers get the W's. Whatever it was JJ paid Jones, it was well worth it. The Crockett Cup is coming! I have a feeling this year's edition is going to be stacked beyond belief.
  15. I agree with AD, Cody Michaels finally gets a chance to shine in our game and he's making the most of it. Dark Journey and the Terrors are causing a lot of trouble. Plowboy is looking to put a stop to it. You've got a great headlining feud going on between Reno/Wolf and Tojo/Headhunter. And finally, Bill Ash. LOL, this guy is already a heat magnet! MSG headliner, gotta love it. Great job. IPW is coming on strong.
  16. I like that Dutch is both a commentator and wrestler. Not to mention a heel. Here comes the heat! It's so great seeing Whatley pop up here. He's been a game favorite since the beginning. Mystery surrounds Big Money. It will be interesting watching his story unfold. Rogers cracks me up and is doing a pretty good job getting his character over. Good old fashion southern heat. Trust me, Keirn can make it as a solo. Oh man Wright gave me one heck of an 80s flashback! Hart, Swagger, Hahn wow! Dutch steals the show and brings Wright to tears. True heartfelt moment. Budro is back in the game baby!!!!!! This is going to be awesome! If anybody fits in here, it's Landel. Wright's plan backfires as Douglas takes advantage and knocks Dutch out. The Ref might have caught him, but Douglas did the damage. This has quickly become a money maker for Jarrett. Great TV! CWA has some serious buzz going.
  17. Welcome to the game! I love the territory feel. Booking in the H.S. gave it the perfect feel. A lot of fun with Lou, Plowboy, the Terrors and Dark Journey. Michaels and Riggins get over as babyfaces. Always great seeing Tojo in the game. It's cool seeing a smaller territory in the game. Great job!
  18. Yep, Backlund's still got it. Steamboat's new gimmick is really taking off. The PCW teams better be on high alert if Cactus and Cyrus are teaming up. Dean is finally able to put Smothers away. Playboy Club put a hurting on Hall. Rose is such a mastermind. Portland, Enos can get the job done as a solo. I believe seeds have been planted for a Malenko's/Southern Boys program. Playboy Club sets it up and Rose knocks it down. Hart retains in a very grueling 3 falls match with Bull. Widowmaker is looking strong as his quest for title rematch continues. Eugene, Won't be long until FOJ is wearing gold. Albright looks unbeatable! Owen and Pierre are off to a good start. Flowers still gets the job done. It was only a matter of time and the fans in Eugene got to witness the first Pillman/Cheetah encounter. Lucky them! I hope we get plenty more. St. Clair gets the spotlight to end the show. Can't wait for the one on one with Anvil!
  19. Once again, the build up to this event has been a thrill ride. Fuller gets a lot of help to put Pitbull down and claim the Heritage title. Fuller is having one heck of a career resurgence in the NWA. Renegade Warriors get the win but looks like the Moondogs aren't done with them just yet. SPC were looking strong going into Superbrawl but the New Breed come out on top and retain. WOW! Wasn't expecting the Doctor of Desire to show up. He delivers and helps get Ronnie his shot at Jimmy Jam. After one wild and crazy feud, Kaz finally ends it with one hell of a finish! Damn! Jones's men get the job done. RnR and Commonwealth give the fans a classic to end the night. RnR send the fans home happy with a double dropkick. Fantastic blow off!
  20. Gordy comes back from Japan with some gold and says Savage is next. Meanwhile, Hayes gets his big shot at Steamboat. Triumph is going to rock! Looking forward to the inevitable Snuka/Koko-Sabu/Taz match. Triumph is getting better by the minute. Road Warriors vs. Twin Towers, bring it on! A lot of tag teams in line for the Rockers. Pegasus cuts a passionate promo on his mask. Him and Konnan really have a fun feud going. Chaos ends the show. Predator is making a big name for himself by beating up Rhodes. Rhodes was good at putting the spotlight on young monsters. Race and Rhods are bringing that old school heat.
  21. Super D and Poffo warm up the fans with solid showcases. Looks like Murdoch is going to need a partner to deal with the Barbarians. Missy and Gilbert found out who they were dealing with as JYD got his thump on. WOW! Rick Steiner ends Duggan's TV title run. I had a feeling 1988 would be Rick's breakout year. I think he's ready to move on from Hot Stuff Inc. I wonder if Super D will want to still beat up Duggan or go after Steiner's TV title? Herc and Scott are really gelling as a team. Big time credibility with that win over Uncle Ivan and Wahoo. The Jake/Dibiase feud has been so well done. The finish keeps things going. I love how Jake looks strong while Dibiase manages to hang on to his title. Damn! What a match to end the night. Reed is a superstar! Nice little detail with Williams. You are the master of adding intrigue to the storylines.
  22. (I wanted to post this a day early, so I can get caught up on everybody's shows tomorrow.) AWA Title Night 3-11-88 From the Roberto Clemente Coliseum, San Juan Puerto Rico Ken Resnick: Hello everybody and welcome to Title Night. The AWA is very proud to be here in Puerto Rico and let me tell you, these great fans are ready. As you can see AWA C.O.O. Gerry Morrow is at ringside. The camera pans to Morrow, who raises his glass and smiles. Resnick: Well, we have a tremendous night of action, so let's get to it. Chicky Starr w/DDP defeats a Local masked talent with the corkscrew elbow. DDP put his promo skills to work with a very charismatic introduction of Chicky. As if Chicky needed more heat in Puerto Rico. AWA TV Title Bout 'The Living Legend' Larry Zbyszko (C) vs. Brad Rheingans Larry really irks the fans with his ongoing stalling tactics. He finally gets on the apron and Brad didn't waste any time as he grabs Larry and suplexes him back in the ring. Brad controls the early segment with suplexes, back drops and slams. Larry turns the tide with a mule kick and proceeds to break the rules and argue with both the Ref and the fans. Brad comes back with a sidewalk slam and almost puts Larry away with a German suplex. Brad gets excited and charges Larry in the corner but Larry lifts his knees. Brad hits them head on. Larry grabs Brad and hits a swinging neckbreaker for the win. Winner of the match and still AWA TV Champ- Larry Zbyszko AWA National Tag Team Title Bout Venomous (C) vs. The Original Midnight Express w/Norvell Austin Fast paced, seesaw match that the fans get invested in. Venomous put their high octane offense in full gear while the Midnight's put their chemistry and cunning skills to work. Norvell thought his men were going to win when Condrey swept Cobra's legs as Rose hit a flying press, but Cobra kicked out. Later in the match, Kat almost pinned Rose with a reverse press off the turnbuckles. At the 20 minute mark, Venomous double dropkicked Condrey out of the ring. Cobra hit a snap suplex on Rose as Kat climbed to the top turnbuckles. Norvell jumped on the apron to distract the ref. Condrey got on the apron and whacked Kat with a steel chair! However, the Ref turned around and saw the blow and signaled for the DQ. Norvell slid another chair into the ring. Cobra went after Condrey, but Rose nailed Cobra from behind with a chair. The Midnight's then deliver double DDT's to both Cobra and Kat on the chairs! Massive heat for the Midnight's and Norvell. Winners of the match by DQ and still AWA National Tag Team Champs- Venomous AWA Mid- American Title Bout Austin Idol (C) vs. 'Marvelous' Mike George w/Greg Gagne Idol is full of confidence and ready to go. Idol grabs Gagne by his hair and hurls him out of the ring. George charges Idol but Idol quickly cradles him 1..2..3! Huge POP! Winner of the match and still AWA Mid -American Champ- Austin Idol AWA World Tag Team Title Bout The Bruise Brothers (C) vs. 'Dynamite' DJ Peterson and 'Mr. Magnificent' Kevin Kelly w/The Vin Man The Bruise Brothers look pumped up and rock solid. On the other hand, Vinnie is trying to keep DJ and Kelly from tearing into each other. The bell rings and Kelly pushes DJ and says he's starting the match. DJ pushes Kelly into Atlas and Atlas pinballs Kelly around the ring. Atlas tags in Cameron and he does the same. Vinnie is having a breakdown. The Bruise Brothers take turns putting a beating on Kelly, until Kelly falls back and is able to tag DJ. DJ doesn't fare much better as the Bruise Brothers are in total sync. The Bruise Brothers swing DJ to the ropes and put him down with a double shoulder tackle 1..2..Kelly breaks it, then grabs DJ and hurls him outside the ring. Kelly goes out to him and starts yelling at him for almost losing the match. Vinnie runs over and tries to get things under control. The Bruise Brothers go out, grab Vinnie and push him out of the way. The Bruise Brothers hurl both Kelly and DJ back into the ring. DJ and Kelly get up and start pushing each other. DJ pushes Kelly and goes for a clothesline but Kelly ducks and DJ clotheslines Atlas over the top rope. Kelly charges DJ and puts him down with a forearm blast. Cameron nails Kelly with a clothesline. Cameron picks up Kelly but Kelly rakes his eyes. DJ staggers up, swings off the ropes and goes for a flying shoulder block on Kelly but Kelly moves as DJ nails Cameron 1..2..3!!! Unbelievable! The fans are in shock and so is Vinnie. The Ref hands the titles to DJ and Kelly. They're in total shock as well. The Bruise Brothers can't believe it as they just stand there with their hands on their hips. Nobody knows how to react. Vinnie finally runs in the ring and hugs Kelly, then hugs DJ as he points to the titles. How is this ever going to work? In a stunning upset, the winners of the match and NEW AWA World Tag Team Champs- DJ Peterson and Kevin Kelly AWA World Title Bout Bad News Brown (C) vs. Carlos Colon Colon's reception is deafening! He's so excited, he does a cartwheel as he enters the ring. Brown walks to the ring, cool, calm and collective with the title on his shoulder. The introductions are made and this crowd is going bonkers. The opening minutes is all Colon as he back drops, slams, suplexes and dropkicks Brown all over the ring. Brown comes back with Judo moves, clubbing, clotheslines, hard slams and smashing fists. These guys go at each other hard. At the 30 minute mark, both men are busted up and bleeding. Nelson: Al Perez, you gave the world champ Bad News Brown a run for his money, not once, but twice. Perez: Thank you Larry. However, I came up short both times. I'll admit, it was heartbreaking. I'm coming back stronger and better than ever and I promise I'll be back in title contention before you know it! Commercial Break Scott 'Powerhouse' Putski vs. Harold Bannister Putski finishes things off with the Polish Hammer! All titles on the line. Carlos Colon will no doubt have homefield advantage as he faces Bad News Brown for the world title. And how about hated rivals Kevin Kelly and DJ Peterson earning a world tag title shot against the Bruise Brothers? I mean Kelly and DJ have been feuding on and off for years. The Ultimate Warrior debuts at Champagne Slam! 4-15-88
  24. Rip Rogers is exactly the territory wrestler that will thrive here. Dick Slater is on his way! Dutch might not be thrilled, but I am. The Fabulous One has his sights set on the tournament and title. Jarrett isn't messing around. Dutch puts his bullrope to use on Sawyer, but luckily the Franchise was chomping to get at Dutch. Marlin gives Dutch a one time pass. I have a feeling we're going to see the bullrope again. LOL, Wright was a big part of tonight's show and cracked me up. He's going to bring the heat to Memphis. Lightning Express get the satisfying win tonight, but I'm sure the Russians won't let this slide easily. Great job with the format. You've really captured the territory feel.
  25. Afi gets the win tonight over Champion. Can him and Cocoa carry that momentum into SuperBrawl? Props to you for bringing the Moondogs seriously back in the game. Jaggers gets in a strong showing. Linda earns her money and helps Street get a huge win over Gibson. Fuller pulls out all the tricks to beat Wright. Fuller gets a ticket to SuperBrawl. Worldwide, Finlay, Travis and Radiance get the showcases. Pitbull earns his way into SuperBrawl to face Fuller. I liked writing for Pitbull and happy to see him in a strong slot here. SuperBrawl has been built up so well! One thing I think is cool, is the world tag title match in the main event. RnR and the Commonwealth have defiantly earned it.
