  1. I have heard people say they can't give a lower rating on a match because the wrestlers were working hard, this is the concept that makes me feel like I agree more with the "Anti-workrate" philosophy. Saying that someone works really hard means they deserve more credit as a wrestler is a dangerous way to think because you could end up in a situation where you're voting Zach Gowen the greatest wrestler ever because it takes more work for him than others to be competent in ring.
  2. I'll admit that I do have a bias against WWE as I love plenty of 70s and 80s AJPW and NWA. I'd say there is a difference between low workrate and being a lazy slob unfortunately much like pornography you only know it when you see it
  3. I haven't seen this term thrown around but, I'd proudly claim "Anti-workrate" because I it's insane to claim someone is a worse work based on their physical limitations going with your Earthquake/Malenko example. Wrestlers should be judged on their abilities inherent to themselves and what role they fulfilled.
  4. My point isn't that Nick Jackson getting a tv title shot is out of the question but they are running this "Roddy vs the world" story and he's been facing out-there opponents so, in a way you made my point for me Nick Jackson is a guy that would be getting a title shot in normal ROH story therefore they are already running out of interesting and different challengers for him.
  5. Hey without Pete I wouldn't be on the show to get compliments so in a round about way it's his to take.
  6. I may have not explained that exactly how I meant it what I mean to say is he would be the best jobber and in a way is but, he wasn't actually booked as one because in his era they just don't have true job guys especially ones that are under contract. Think of Ziggler in the 80s on prime time getting absolutely destroyed by the Wild Samoans.
  7. I remember when HBK and HHH reunite for 1 night only to have HHH turn on him I was so excited then they came out and I thought "oh yeah they are just going to be DX" so I was actually happy HHH pedigreed him. So yeah I hated DX.
  8. Only the most tangential connection. Something related to the Hogan stuff got me doing the research that led to it, but it's not about that at all. Is it related to figuring out how THERMOSES keep hot stuff hot and cold stuff cold?
  9. I was thinking the other day Ziggler might be the best "job guy" in the history of WWE the problem is that in modern wrestling he's been pushed at time as more than that because you can't have actually enhancement talent anymore they have to all be superstars. Zigglers bumping and selling is amazing and his hope spots make you really believe in him, he's also a guy that is essentially bullet proof as he can lose every match in concert with terrible booking and still be remarkably in basically any market. If you also take in to account his amateur background that is pretty top notch in the few times he gets to show it off in-ring (I.E. vs Swagger or Cesaro) and you've actually got a pretty well rounded worker. The only run he had that could put him in a GWE for me was with "The Family" with AJ and Big E but, that was less than a year so honestly it's not much of a case.
  10. Thank you so much it's really important to me to get as detailed as possible even with the stupid little stuff like entrances and gear
  11. I get a weird kick out of Kris and Bix talking about naughty things it's akin to hearing a preach swear
  12. ROH as announced Roddy Strong vs Nick Jackson for the TV title that's kind of scary if they are already running out of interesting "Vs The World" guys for Roddy or it might be even more scary if they actually think one half of The Young Bucks is an interesting opponent
  13. I don't really mean about the listing but more I'm asking if you consider that the #5 match including the finish or if you see thst as more of a post match angle?
  14. For Brock vs Roman do you consider the 3-way when Seth comes in a separate match?
  15. Part 2 made my afternoon the intro song is transcendent. Happy to hear so much Funk on both lists and how high Steven put Dragon vs Butcher actually made me mark
  16. As a guy who listens to a lot of podcasts I have to say this is the most in depth review of WK 10 out there as most others have been to busy talking about the wwe signing news
  17. Great episode so nice hearing Tom talking about wrestling again. For my money vs Robinson in 76 is one of Baba's best matches for sure
  18. You're definitely right but, there is a generation of fans and wrestlers that were raised on the idea that Angle is one of if not the greatest all time in-ring wrestler so his negative tropes have more legacy than others
  19. He was fine had good matches very few really great matches and none that were with guys that weren't better than himself but, one of his biggest flaws as GWE that I feel is rarely brought up is his impact. Impact is very important but people seldom talk about the effects of negative impact on a candidates standing. Angle can be seen as if not the father of the guy you popularized on a mainstream stage the "Epic Match" style by which I mean long matches with lots of moves, kick outs, finishers, no-selling, and lack of real substance. That style had at a time and may still be the main event style for most major companies.
  20. Not that it should be put in the body of this but, I really appreciate it when lists like this are made available in text somewhere it's easier to then go over it to remember which matches I may want to go back and check out without needing to try to skip around through the audio. Also this is a great episode really enjoy you 2 together.
  21. This match was hot from even before the start as the entire crowd was huge fans of both guys coming into it, with most having a slight leaning towards one over the other leading to an intense dueling chant that became so infectious and competitive I found myself thinking "No way I'm letting them chant longer than us" as I rooted for Tozawa. These two got match of the year chants before they even locked up and while that's a bit cutesy for some the wrestlers and management earned it by delivering in the past. Tozawa was a lot more serious in this than his last PWG showing and ZSJ only plays his cheeky games with guys that he is very close friends with most notably Marty Scrull. ZSJ has so may believable finishes from cradles to submissions that when he ended this with the PK a common set up for a falsie the crowd was actually surprised quite the feat when anyone in attendance could have easily predicted a win for the future world champion contender. They both showed off they full skills on the mat, striking, flying, and even a little brawling around the building. Clearly these are not the two guys to have a stiff, wild, and bloody fight style of match but they threw the strikes in where they counted and made them look about as good as you can hope for particularly the straight jab from Tozawa. I can't recall any botches or miss steps. Some say PWG is a company of all "dream matches" that can be taken in any order but this show felt like it flowed almost perfectly leading to this match giving the feeling that it was the most important thing we had seen all night which was then perfectly topped by the championship main event afterwards. While I don't feel fully comfortable giving this a rating based solely on a live viewing I can safely say that his was right at or above 4*
  22. This company recently turn The Miz from face to heel back to face over a month because they forgot he had a WWE pictures movie coming out, it's really hard for me to believe they do anything deliberately if it's not the top tier guys
  23. That doesn't really go against what I'm saying, they book them this way because they put little thought into the divas so little that I suspect there is no directive at all let alone one that states "They are all catty chicks". Erratic and senseless booking comes with the territory when everything is left up to the last minute and not thought out long term. Look at the men they are at times just as jealous and conniving to each other with little in the way of back story or set up the women are just more so because Vince doesn't see them or didn't see them as an important part of his show.
  24. I believe someone said that as a way to describe the situation more easily but, I don't believe that it was some type of official directive as some people seem to be framing it
  25. I'll also do a quick comparison of Steve & Colby Corino for you Colby let's say got his "big break" joining ROH full time last year just before his birthday but let's just call it 18 to be fair to people who want to dislike his situation at that point he had 6 years of in-ring experience. Steve joined ECW in 1998 at the ripe old age of 25 only 7 years older and with a staggering 4 years of in-ring experience yes you read that right he was older yet some how had 2 years less experience in similar locally run small show. When Steve come in to ECW he had little in the way of physique I'll give you he was thicker than Colby is now and Steve was obviously a better talker but Colby does have a natural charisma. So I'd say some people maybe mad that seeing a guy like Colby getting a chance makes you upset less because he's undeserving and more because he's done so much whIle being so young and some people might be threatened by that because it makes them feel like they are old and wasting their lives.
