In theory her second WWWA tag title run with Mach Fumiake at least could've been broadcast on Fuji TV cause of Mach's popularity but whether or not those early tapes lived a long life is unknown. April 1975 is the date that I have when Fuji TV made the formal deal with AJW for regular TV broadcasts, what regular broadcasting meant in 1975 is also something I have to look deeper into once I can read more Japanese.

One of my goals is to be the high vote for Mariko Akagi, unfortunately by the time AJW got the Fuji TV deal she's in the back half of her career and about to start her heel run with White Pair but she's a top 3 or 4 wrestler for 70s AJW imo. She gets referred as the "Queen of the Ring" in the Beauty Pair movie and things I've read have made it seem very clear that the company was very high on her but I don't want to walk into conversation with my only reference being a couple matches I found on youtube, magazines, fan accounts, and a kayfabe movie where she beats up a bunch of ruffians and recruits Jackie to join AJW. This is the pain of 1970s AJW.

Jumbo Miyamoto defends the WWWA World Title Really important match for the history of AJW and joshi wrestling as a whole. Until the debut of Mach Fumiake joshi wrestling only had sporadic tv appearances and public matches as since its beginning in the near aftermath of WWII due to having a reputation of being a sexual sideshow at dance clubs and cabaret halls. Even legitimate promotions couldn't rent gyms cause landlords didn't want to attract a crowd with any potential links to the underworld. Enter Mach Fumiake, a runner up in a national singing competition a couple years before her wrestling debut, a debut aired on Fuji TV, and her built in celebrity helps bring a respectability to the sport and brings in a larger audience. Here is her lone WWWA title win against Jumbo Miyamoto in a match less than 5 minutes long that ends in a three-count despite Jumbo getting her shoulder up. The wrestling itself isn't spectacular but is indicative of the time, (in my opinion Mariko Akagi is the best wrestler in AJW during this time up until the final years of the 70s) with Mach's significant offense being big boots and a double underhook suplex. Jumbo Miyamoto would win the belt back 14 days later and later in April, 1975 Fuji TV reaches a deal with AJW to regularly broadcast their wrestling and create the long lasting relationship between AJW and Fuji TV.

We Don't Know Wrestling SUPERTHREAD!
Noah's_Savior replied to concrete1992's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I'm making a return to PWO after a couple of years. I'm Alex, host of the BeruBara Tag Boom, and feel free to shoot me any questions. This project has made me excited about wrestling for the first time since 2019 and after this I'll probably go further into whichever 70s AJW and other promotions I can find film on. -
Match got canceled, Gabi got in the ring to apologize, and the show continued. I imagine Sakakibara and Takada are miffed since the last year on Fujiyama Fight Club, Fuji TV's weekly mma show, they've been running skits building Kandori & LLPW-X vs Gabi Garcia.

Tsukushi is having her re-debut at Ribbonmania on December 31. Wonder how the fans respond to her when she walks past the curtain at Korakuen Hall.

Yoshiko defeated Hiroyo Matsumoto for the Oz Academy Openweight title and I'm assuming anti-Yoshiko western fans are taking that well.

Early JWP (Pre-Split/Interpromotional Era)
Noah's_Savior replied to Jetlag's topic in The Microscope
It is interesting that the first company to give AJW any competition since formation and founded by one of the biggest joshi stars ever doesn't have more buzz in the west, them and LLPW are the odd, people know the name but don't seem interested in watching or reading about them.- 39 replies

Stardom women only work Stardom so why would places like Sendai Girls, Ice Ribbon, SEAdLINNNG, and others hurt from talent they don't use signing to WWE? The joshi scene is much healthier than the 2000s, the decade where AJW and Gaea japan both shutdown in the same year. Joshi didn't stop in 1999 and restart in 2014 so don't give me this shit that it's unhealthy or whatever, Pure-J and Sendai Girls have both gained a new trainee to their dojos, Chihiro Hashimoto, Tokyo Sports Rookie of the Year 2016, and Mika Shirahime aren't even two years into their careers and are already proving to be promising wrestlers. The joshi world doesn't revolve around Stardom and Rossy's hat, the scene will recover, Stardom and Weekly Playboy are the only ones who'll truly hurt from losing Io and Kairi to WWE. Akira Hokuto found a way to have a kid in 1998 and continue her career, fucking Jaguar Yokota had a kid in her 40s and still wrestles so that talking point can stop right there.

According to Dave's history, Kana was a top star in Stardom before Io and Kairi https://twitter.com/EvanDeadlySinsW/status/862508791748800513

https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20170509-00000010-tospoweb-fight A good interview with Kairi about her leaving Stardom and heading over seas. She said age was a factor for her deciding that now is her last chance to go to WWE, if she was younger she might've said no and thought about retirement last September after her injury. Still feels incomplete as a wrestler and wants to train to learn more about wrestling. Bull Nakano encouraged her to go, saying she'll get to grow as a wrestler and a person, and Kairi said she's gotten more support on social media than she expected.

Kairi, Toni Storm, Mayu Iwatani, and Io all appear to have limited time left in Stardom and they still haven't started to transition titles off of them. Meanwhile Momo isn't due to return from injury until 2018 and I don't know when Yoko Bito is returning after her arm surgery.

Pure-J has their first trainee, Tamami Kasazawa. She's 17 years old, 162 cm tall, and her sports background includes karate, judo, wrestling, baseball, and dodgeball. She grew up watching wrestling and her favorites were Dump, Aja, and Kyoko Inoue and she aims to debut at Pure-J's first show at Korakuen on August 11. During the main event of the latest Hikaru Shida produce show Hikaru lost consciousness but it doesn't seem serious right now, she tweeted that tomorrow she's getting an exam and apologizes for causing worry. Update: she has a concussion.

Don't know if anyone here has been paying attention to Beginning Pro Actwres girl'Z but since the beginning of 2017 the roster has been popping up more places, most recently at JWP's 25th anniversary show, Pro Wrestling ACE, Pro Wrestling Diane, and even a tag match at a March AJPW show like Ice Ribbon has had in the past. Yumiko Hotta wrestled at their show, ACT 18, on March 26 and will have some of the Actwres girl'Z at a May 4 produce show. I don't know any backstage details like who the owner is and sponsors, but I found their recent increased presence on different cards interesting.

If there's a promo of the year award on a wrestling site they need to have this as the front runner. Miz mauled Bryan in that promo and I loved that Miz looked into the camera, holding up the title, and kept going.

Also love how this was announced right after Triple H finished his pre-Takeover media phone conference.

The Marine 5 starts shooting on May 31 with Miz, Maryse, Naomi, and The Social Outcasts in the cast. My question is who will take the IC title from Miz. Cesaro, Cena, or someone else.

I'll be happy to have the Joe/Balor feud end, hasn't been my favorite NXT title feud.

From Triple H's twitter. Then the Shake Them Ropes twitter posted that NXT doesn't have any house shows outside of Florida past June 17, all interesting.

Least Favorite Wrestling Move/Strike in Pro Wrestling

I hate Dean's rebound clothesline, he does it too often and it never looks good. -
Cause he's a lunatic! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think Eric Bischoff, and others', stigma about being "too southern" might stem from people equating lack of intelligence and other unappealing qualities to a southern accent. This crop of talent on the WWE's main roster may have the most diverse set of english accents, like newscasters the talent develop a neutral accent. Granted, I only have 6 years of wrestling watching under my belt but I'd believe there to be a regional bias in US wrestling talk.

Roman and the Usos vs AJ and The Club is some real money. It's good that they aren't having Roman and AJ out in the ring cutting long promos, instead having backstage interactions between the teams.
