When you think a bit about it, it's ironic that considering that Riho is a protégé of Kenny Omega, she excels at doing everything that Kenny Omega is being faulted by many for not doing in his matches. It also is telling about how good Riho really is, especially for a joshi of her size. The more weeks go by, the more I understand why she's been made the face of AEW's women's division once Kylie Rae left the promotion before it even got going.

I just love your writing style. You certainly know how to write promos for someone like Hot Rod. You're probably the best one so far. As for the show itself, business picks up now that Kevin Von Erich has arrived to save lil' brother Mike and "cousin Lance". Very much looking forward to New Orleans Spectacular as that card is getting stacked. My money's on Bundy to win the battle royal!

January 18th, 1985 House Show -Jack Brisco beat Johnny Mantell in 11:51 Mid-Atlantic TV Championship: Jimmy Golden beat Boomer Lynch in 9:43 to win the title -Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champion Davey Boy Smith beat Steve Doll in 2:10 -Bob Orton beat Tim Horner in 12:25 -United States Heavyweight Champion The Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff beat Kamala (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink) & Bulldog Bob Brown in 19:53 when Sheik submitted Brown -Ole Anderson beat Scott Casey by submission in 19:20 -Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland beat Mike Davis in 17:55 -Nikolai Volkoff vs Paul Orndorff ends in a no-contest as the match never got started due to a vicious attack by The Iron Sheik on Orndorff. Sheik applies the Camel Clutch on Orndorff until Junkyard Dog charged the ring to clean house from Sheik & Volkoff. The show ended with Orndorff & JYD celebrating together.

MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING #3 WTBS STUDIOS, ATLANTA, GA JANUARY 18TH, 1985 The show starts with highlights from the Paul Orndorff vs Kamala match from Clash of the Champions in which Brett Wayne Sawyer came to the aid of Orndorff when he was being attacked by both Kamala & Kevin Sullivan. After the opening credits and usual introductions, Bob Caudle and David Crockett announce that signed for this week's show, Brett Wayne Sawyer will take on Kevin Sullivan in singles action Up first, The Stud Stable is scheduled to take on the team of Gino Hernandez & The Masked Superstar but Gino comes out and says that his partner isn't here yet and he'll do it alone if he has to. However, to the surprise of everyone, The Junkyard Dog, shows up and volunteers himself to be Gino's partner, not because he likes Gino but because it is the right thing to do. JYD warns Gino to not double-cross him because that will mean trouble. Match #1 The Stud Stable beat Gino Hernandez (w/Miss Elizabeth) & The Junkyard Dog by DQ after Gino used JYD's chain to knock Robert Fuller with it. After the match, Gino and JYD got into an argument until THE MASKED SUPERSTAR jumped JYD from behind. It was all a setup as the Superstar uses his loaded mask to knock out JYD! Match #2 Kevin Sullivan (w/Fallen Angel & Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat Brett Wayne Sawyer with the Double Stomp. After the match, PURPLE HAZE makes his way to the ring and plants the infamous Golden Spike in Sawyer's eye! Sawyer writhes in pain as medical personnel checks on him while the House of Humperdink leaves the studio Match #3 Dutch Mantell beat Jerry Brisco Up next, Stampede Rush come to the broadcast booth for an interview. Bob Caudle & David Crockett question them as to if they've missed their one and only shot at being tag team champions when ACCW morphed into Mid-Atlantic. Duke Myers says it's because Mid-Atlantic management only cares about the big names like the Minnesota Wrecking Crew or the current champs, The British Bulldogs. They know that they aren't doing things the way other teams do but they proved to be successful by being former Atlantic Coast Tag Team Champions as well as in other territories. Kerry Brown says he feels like management want Stampede Rush to break off and do things on their own. Kerry then suggests than they do just that. Duke Myers seems to be shocked but Kerry answers that they'll wreak so much havoc on their own that Jim Crockett will wish he wouldn't have messed with Stampede Rush. Once they're through in singles, they're coming back together to take the Mid-Atlantic Tag titles! Match #4 Kamala (w/Kevin Sullivan & Sir Oliver Humperdink) beat Billy Travis Other angles & promos: After an update on Brett Wayne Sawyer's medical condition, we're taken to a vignette in a dark room with Kevin Sullivan, Sir Oliver Humperdink and Purple Haze. Sullivan says it's the sacrifice Sawyer had to do for getting his nose in the House's business. If he wants to keep his other eye, he better stay out of their way. The only comments from Purple Haze were the usual "YUTE! YUTE!". The Masked Superstar & James J. Dillon came to the broadcast booth for an interview explaining their actions in the opening bout. Dillon says he knew that JYD would fall into their trap because it's exactly the type of things that JYD has done all his life. The Masked Superstar says that people like JYD are a plague to this business because they always feel so righteous and need to do the right thing. So Superstar did "the right thing" by knocking him out with his loaded mask. Dillon says that he, Superstar and Gino Hernandez are now the most powerful force in Mid-Atlantic. They will take everything in short notice. Looks like it's Groundhog Day for Mike Graham because he's once again attacked in the parking lot of the WTBS Studios, this time by Kevin Kelly & Rocky "The Best Kernodle". Kernodle holds up Graham as Kelly pummels Graham with his infamous brass knuckles. How much more can Mike Graham take? The Stud Stable comes out to close the show for an interview. It's announced that Jimmy Golden is getting a shot at the Mid-Atlantic TV Championship tonight against Boomer Lynch. Golden is supremely confident he'll walk away with the title but Robert Fuller is mad about Gino Hernandez hitting him with JYD's chain earlier in the night. Fuller says it doesn't matter which one of himself, Golden or their new ally Randy Rose gets to him but someone will. It's about time for somebody to knock Gino off his pedestal and it will be the Stud Stable that will do so.

The only way the finish of the main event would've gotten more heat than it did here was it actually happened in Memphis instead of Jackson. Adrian Adonis as Bock's partner in crime will be fun to follow. I'm interested to see how far you can go with this, considering that I've mostly seen the Adorable version of Adonis my whole life and less of what he did with Jesse Ventura and Dick Murdoch when they were totally badasses.

I don't know if there's a right or wrong answer here. My gauge to determine that could be different than yours, like it would be different from somebody else. We would have to come together and decide specific guidelines to accurately judge it. But even there, it's all subjective, especially if your bias for or against one of those names come into play.

Just saw something pop up this afternoon about Luke Harper/Brodie Lee being rumored to be affiliated somehow to the Dark Order and I got no idea what to think about that.
-
Given Cody's love for old school wrestling, I'd bet it would be the AEW TV title.
-
Didn't Cody hint at adding a midcard title soon? Maybe this will happen some time in 2020. YOU DON'T SPEAK FOR ME!!! #JoinDarkOrder

And Center Stage doesn't seem be that big to fill for TV and stuff. Must not be that expensive.
-
Might be available on ROH's VOD service. I'm sure they used footage of that show for Honor Club ads.

I mean, in itself, I also find this very amusing and love @SomethingSavage analogy with a what if HBK never got his shit together. In fact, I'm sure Paul Heyman would look at this and wished he would've thought of that himself for heel RVD in ECW when he had the chance. Isn't Josh Mathews the guy in charge of social media for Impact? In the end, he should be the fall guy for letting this go through, right?

Post it in the "Rosters and Transactions" thread. Kevin will then update the first page of the thread by adding your roster.

I mean, at its core, I never perceived studio wrestling as the spot where you get 5 star classics except for the seldom featured match every now and then. But I really like as well that they're taking their time, telling those stories. In Season 1, it was mostly about Tim Storm's path to redemption (by the way, imagine if that guy was on the AEW roster how ridiculously over he would be as well) and now, it's about Ricky Morton getting another shot at the NWA title almost 34 years after his classic with Ric Flair at the Great American Bash. Everything happens for a reason and I can live with subpar matches on Powerrr since we've got some great promo work and story development on a weekly basis.

Hmm....you might be onto something. And if you're right about the Young Bucks behind that angle, it would make sense.

I seem to be the only one here so far who's totally been on-board with the Dark Order stuff in the past 2 months or so. Ever since, they started airing those vignettes, I now understand their motivations and what they're all about. My main concern, however, is who will be revealed as "The Exalted One" as they could set themselves for massive disappointment if the choice is underwhelming. I personally think that Kevin Sullivan would be perfect in that spot.

"Triple H shoots himself in the foot" thread
SirEdger replied to paul sosnowski's topic in Pro Wrestling
The joke would've been harmless if it hadn't been aimed at Paige specifically, because of her past miscarriage and the fact she can't have kids. In that context, it was poorly worded by Triple H, although I'm sure that he didn't mean to mock her personal struggles in that regard. -
One of the stalwart rivalries from CHIKARA and now that their video library is slowly entirely making its way on IWTV, I'm planning to take advantage of it to live some of their key stuff. For people more familiar with the old CHIKARA shows, which matches & angles from their rivalry should I be on the lookout for?

I think I also saw Will Ospreay was announced for that card.

Looks like they taped both this week and next week's episode of AEW Dark after tonight's show but no clue which match will go where. I know that Taz will be on commentary for both and former LAX member Diamante worked those tapings.

WWE TV 1/6/20-1/12/20: At least 2019 is finally over
SirEdger replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in WWE
It would be typical but it's not like the seeds haven't been planted, all the way back to the premiere on FOX when The Rock eviscerated Corbin on the mic. What would be worst would be to insert Rock in a multi-men tag match with Roman & The Usos against Corbin, Ziggler, Roode and somebody else (I was thinking The Revival but that would mean an extra partner for the Bloodline). As for Edge, I don't know if I see him accepting to do a Saudi show, even for that payday. I'd like to think that Edge would want a one-time deal to be more significant, considering the way that he had to retire. A program a bit similar to the one HBK had with Triple H when he returned in 2002 and when we thought it would be just for one night.
