Are the problems in modern wrestling Mick Foley's fault?
SirEdger replied to joeg's topic in Pro Wrestling
I mean, you look at guys like R-Truth, who's been able to prolong his career for the most part because of his excellent comedy skills. I agree that comedy for the sake of comedy just doesn't work but when you got guys that are really good at it, it can sometimes save an abysmal show and give you something fun to talk about the next morning. -
RIP Kendo Nagasaki (Kazuo Sakurada NOT Peter Thornley)
SirEdger replied to paul sosnowski's topic in Pro Wrestling
I remember Kendo Nagasaki (Sakurada) being my first exposure to a Japanese wrestler back in the mid-80s when I watched Lutte Internationale as a kid. His look always fascinated me and it's probably why I was always attracted more to guys like The Great Muta & The Great Kabuki as a kid, later on. -
"Triple H shoots himself in the foot" thread
SirEdger replied to paul sosnowski's topic in Pro Wrestling
Yeah, that's the type of thing I would've totally expected 1998 Triple H to say in a DX promo, not in a corporate setting. -
I like that you've established your specific crews for your touring events. Definitely gives us an idea of the pecking order in the AWA.

"Triple H shoots himself in the foot" thread
SirEdger replied to paul sosnowski's topic in Pro Wrestling
That definitely wasn't Papa Paul's finest hour. Stupid, stupid, stupid comment. -
I'll give you that. But what about Jericho? And Moxley? Even the rising stars like Darby Allin and MJF could benefit from that as well.

Nice. I sent Kevin a DM about your interest. He should get back to you as soon as he sees it

I don't know...is AEW working with ROH more a long shot than AEW working with New Japan? I don't know if realistically, as a promotion, you'd pass on the possibility to work with guys like Jay Lethal, the Briscoes, Jonathan Gresham among others just to prove a point. We can agree that ROH would need AEW way more than AEW would need ROH but there still are a ton of fun matchups that could be accomplished by a working relationship between both promotions. I wouldn't necessarily expect a bleeding of programs across both shows but every once in a while, a Jay Lethal popping up on AEW TV could be fun. Or Villain Enterprises.

Anyone managed by Sheik Adnan Al-Kaissie is dangerous, no matter his position on the card. Definitely expecting The Untouchables to make waves quickly in Pacific Coast.

We got always room for one more great writer, my man

CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS JANUARY 11TH, 1985 THE OMNI, ATLANTA, GA -The Gunslingers beat "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly & Bulldog Bob Brown (w/James J. Dillon) in 22:12 Mid-Atlantic TV Championship 4 Corners Match: Boomer Lynch beat The Great Kabuki (w/Sir Oliver Humperdink), Tim Horner & Rocky "The Best Kernodle" at 12:56 by pinning Kabuki with a piledriver . Boomer Lynch is the inaugural Mid-Atlantic TV Champion! -Duke Myers pinned The Purple Haze in just 10 seconds with a small package! -Jack Brisco submitted Tim Patterson in just 19 seconds! -Richard "Le Magnifique" Charland & Mad Dog Lefebvre beat "Gorgeous" Gino Hernandez & The Masked Superstar (w/Miss Elizabeth) after Masked Superstar was caught using his loaded mask on Charland in 22:51 -Paul Orndorff beat Kamala (w/Friday & Kevin Sullivan) after interference from Brett Wayne Sawyer, who came to level the playing field after Kevin Sullivan tried to use the Golden Spike on Orndorff! Sawyer and Orndorff celebrated together in the ring -Mike Davis beat Jimmy Golden in 5:09 -Steve Gatorwolf fought Mike Graham to a double DQ at 15:25. During the postmatch brawl, "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly & Bota the Witch Doctor attacked both Gatorwolf & Graham. Kelly was handed brass knuckles by his manager, James J. Dillon, and start pummeling Graham, busting him wide open, while Bota was making some sort of weird incantations. In an all too familiar sight, Mike Graham was stretchered out of The Omni, but the scary part was that Graham was spitting some sort of light green liquid rather than blood! -In the main event, Arn Anderson defeated Robert Fuller in 20:17 with the Gourdbuster. After the match, there was a confrontation between The Minnesota Wrecking Crew and the Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions, The British Bulldogs, who were at commentary with Bob Caudle & David Crockett. Nothing physical ensued but the Andersons made it crystal clear what they were going after....

After the obligatory congratulations, it is confirmed that while The Bulldogs won't be wrestling at Clash of the Champions in The Omni tonight, they'll be in attendance to watch a couple of the matches. It is however confirmed that their first title defense will be on Monday night, January 13th against the duo of newcomer Tyree Pride & Paul Orndorff. Dynamite Kid says that they're extremely proud of being Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Champions and they'll defend the titles against anybody because they want to prove they're the best tag team in the entire world. Davey Boy Smith adds that it doesn't matter if it's The Brisco Brothers, The Minnesota Wrecking Crew, Sheik & Volkoff or anyone else, they'll never back down from a challenge. They're excited to defend the titles against Pride & Orndorff in 2 days and they're gonna make sure that they make a statement. Match #7 No DQ, No Countout Tim Horner upsets King Tonga, despite multiple interferences from Richard Charland & Mad Dog Lefebvre! Jim Crockett joins his brother David & Bob Caudle to run down the final card for Clash of the Champions at The Omni tonight. He first announces that we'll crown the first Mid-Atlantic TV Champion tonight in a 4 Corners Match, with the first man gaining the pinfall will win the title. The entrants will be The Great Kabuki, Tim Horner, Boomer Lynch and Rocky "the Best Kernodle". Whoever wins that match will then defend the championship tomorrow on Worldwide Wrestling against Brett Wayne Sawyer. Jim Crockett also announces that the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship will also be awarded on Worldwide this week when the final Atlantic Coast Heavyweight Champion "Avalanche" Buzz Tyler will take on Reverend Jimmy Valiant. Crockett wanted to reward both men for their hard work in Atlantic Coast and he wants a decisive winner and if it has to spill everywhere in the studios, so be it. The field for the AWA World Tag Team title tournament is really interesting. You got several tag team contenders and I would argue that your tag team division is the absolute deepest in the game so far.

The way I understand it (and @rovert could probably confirm this) is that Scurll actually IS the head booker, with Delirious being seemingly relegated as his assistant. Seems like it was how it was working when Delirious took over from Jim Cornette. The free show in February is apparently Marty's idea.

Solid show from the Gardens in Louisville. The 2 main matches definitely tore the house down!

Welcome aboard! Great way to open things up with Mid-South. Nice touch with the Observer as well! Looking forward to what you've got cooking for us!

WWE TV 1/6/20-1/12/20: At least 2019 is finally over
SirEdger replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in WWE
I don't necessarily think that the Wrestlemania plans include for Roman to win the Rumble. I actually think the opposite from @Strummer; Roman beats Corbin in singles but Corbin costs Roman the Rumble, with the final match having Roman go over Corbin in March or the international PPV in February. Then, they'll probably kick in the Roman/Fiend program. I'm 100% confident that the Brock/Rumble thing is designed to book his program at Wrestlemania by having the man eliminating him being the winner. -
As much as those allegations are awful, I don't think that racism allegations won't be enough for me to stop watching Tessa wrestle or Impact Wrestling. Hard to Kill should be another statement for the promotion in terms of quality. Meanwhile, if we go back to the card itself, the one match intriguing me on the whole card is The North vs Swann/Mack. That storyline and the teasing of a Swann/Mack rift is very good so far. Gives you enough interest in that match to make you wonder if Swann & Mack can finally stop The North tomorrow.

Low key here, even if it's a draw, I can chalk it as a big moral victory for Mr. Olympia against Larry Zbyszko. If you can hold your own the way he did with Larry Z, that's nothing to sneeze about. Gonna make a bold statement that Olympia will be in the Central States title picture in no time!

Well, they still have IWS and Smash Wrestling but considering that IWTV also streams IWS shows, I don't blame you for dropping The Fight Network. By the way, super psyched about the IWTV/Smart Mark Video merger for 2020. We're totally spoiled as wrestling fans.
-
Is it specified if according to that deal, Marty can only work those 3 promotions?
-
I mean, given all the talent that Tessa possesses, there had to be something that didn't please for WWE not to sign her, knowing that they could eventually have her booked against Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Bayley and many more and it certainly wasn't about her wrestling skills. But this has become the opportunity that fell right in Impact Wrestling's lap and boy, did they take advantage of it. I'm expecting Tessa to win the title tomorrow night and worst case scenario, turn her back heel again. In Québécois, we have that saying that goes like this: "Parlez-en en bien, parlez-en en mal mais parlez-en" which roughly translates to "any publicity cannot hurt you". This is a perfect example of this adage for Impact at the moment.

The "Tessa shoots herself in the foot on Twitter" thread.

Oh yes, indeed you're right. My bad. I had read both of their tweets back-to-back so that's where the confusion came from.
