MID-ATLANTIC CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV #6 WTBS STUDIOS, ATLANTA, GA FEBRUARY 8TH, 1985 As the show comes on the air, Bob Caudle & David Crockett recaps what happened at the Eddie Graham Memorial Show last Monday in Miami, including the main event between Gino Hernandez and The Great Kabuki for the Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. They also discuss the string of incidents involving Kevin Sullivan recently and we're scheduled to hear from the House of Humperdink in the show. Bob Caudle has 2 announcements to make before the show starts; first, this week's episode of Worldwide Wrestling will emanate exceptionnally from the National Guard Armory in Elkin, NC. The 2nd announcement is for a live TV special to air on Saturday, February 22 from the Charlotte Coliseum in Charlotte, NC simply called "Power Hour". In that special event, Mike Graham will finally put his heated feud with "Mr. Magnificent" Kevin Kelly to rest in the feature bout of the show. -In the opening bout of the show, we're scheduled to have a bout between Bob Orton and Johnny Mantell but there's no referee in sight. A stagehand comes to Bob Caudle & David Crockett to explain that the referees are a bit late due to "mechanical issues" and therefore, they'll need a special referee to proceed with the first match. And this is when the masked "CR" comes to the booth and volunteers himself to be that referee for the first match. Being in a bit of a predicament, it's agreed to let CR officiate the first match. Guest Referee - "CR": Johnny Mantell upsets Bob Orton after the referee CR knocks out Orton outside the ring with a bottle! The House of Humperdink make their way to the broadcast booth and Sir Oliver Humpedink is asked about Kabuki's shortcoming against Gino Hernandez at the Eddie Graham Memorial Show on Monday. Humperdink says he's disappointed but he's not angry at Kabuki as much as he's angry at the fact that lately, the House hasn't truly been what they're supposed to be. Humperdink thought that adding Bota the Witch Doctor to the group would shake things up and it hasn't been quite the case yet. Humperdink is starting to think that he and Kevin Sullivan might have to trim the fat off the group and keep only those who are worthy of being in there. Humperdink is sending a message to Kabuki to show no mercy going forward to whomever he'll face. Humperdink turns his attention to Purple Haze, who has a match scheduled up next against the other half of the Gunslingers, Scott Casey. Humperdink went to Jim Crockett and asked for the match to be contested under Texas Death Match rules. Humperdink wants this match to be what his group needs to regroup. David Crockett tries to ask Kevin Sullivan about his recent actions and what's with the Commandments references. Sullivan chooses to play coy and says that his work has barely just begun... Texas Death Match: Scott Casey beat The Purple Haze as he can't beat the 10 count after being pinned following a piledriver on the floor. Looks like Humperdink's pep talk didn't have th effect he was looking for! -"Avalanche" Buzz Tyler beats Billy Travis after interference from Johnny Mantell. Postmatch, after the commercial break, it's announced that Billy Travis demanded a match against Mantell on Worldwide Wrestling this weekend at the Elkin National Guard Armory! Before our main event featuring Robert Fuller and Jerry Brisco, Bob Caudle interview The Brisco Brothers. Jack Brisco says that while it looks like it's all about the eventual showdown between the Andersons and the British Bulldogs down the road, people tend to forget that the Briscos were the most dominant team prior to Jim Crockett purchasing Eddie Graham's territory and they're here to remind everyone of that. Jerry Brisco adds that he's gonna make an example out of Robert Fuller tonight, proving that the Stud Stable are anything but Studs. Jerry says that perhaps he and Jack's careers are winding down but they can still get the job done and this is what 1985 will be about. Bob Caudle announces that Bob Orton is now out indefinitely following the heinous attack from the masked CR and management has received word that Brett Wayne Sawyer is willing to step up to defend Orton's honor and challenged CR to a match next week on Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling TV. CR has reportedly accepted and will do one better: he will unveil his identity on the show next week before the match!!! -In the main event, Jerry Brisco beat Robert Fuller with the Oklahoma Roll. Postmatch, a big brawl ensues as Jimmy Golden attacked Jerry Brisco and big brother Jack made the save! Is a showdown between the Stud Stable and the Briscos happening soon?

In Jimmy Garvin's case, with the Montreal shows, it's more that he was working for Lutte Internationale than WWF. Anything the Rougeaus or Bravo or Martel did back then was what was selling the tickets for those co-promotions. Vince used them to get his foot in so he could scoop up their talents for his expansion.

It's probably John Cena, given that Cena and Mickie were once romantically linked.

Or he was promised a spot as trainer at the PC after his career ends? Who knows why he re-signed. -

I haven't watched the game last night so I don't know if you're insinuating that Lowry & Siakam were fatigued and be taken off the court or that Butler, Trae & Gobert are better than that. I hope you meant the first. (Yes, I'm a Raptors fan. #WeTheNorth) -
I don't necessarily mind this as long as Elias goes over....but man, Cena vs The Fiend looks way more appealing to me than Cena vs Elias.

Cardale Jones is certainly standing out from the pack, though. He's been the only QB who's been solid all around so far.

Yeah, I mean how surprised should we be that Dr. D punched a ref? LOL

From their early days in Stampede to the moment they joined WWF to form respectively the Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs, Bret Hart and Davey Boy Smith have been involved in epic matches and moments in history. Constantly pivoting from foes to allies, both men are forever linked by an absolute classic for the Intercontinental Championship that main evented Summerslam 1992 at Wembley Stadium, further proving that a secondary title could be elevated to the main event slot and draw significantly. Davey Boy Smith had been a key element in many of Bret Hart's greatest achievements and moments throughout his WWF career and this is the thread to highlight and remember those.

Also...Cody wasn't on the show so it might've hurt the ratings as well. Do we have numbers to compare with other episodes of Dynamite where Cody wasn't in attendance?

I can't help but think about the similarity between how they introduced Jeff Cobb last night as Chris Jericho's hired gun for the Inner Circle to how Samoa Joe was introduced in 2002 as The Prophecy's hired gun in ROH. History will tell what will happen next with Cobb and AEW but even if it's a short-term angle, they really made it feel like a big deal. I was tempted to say they'd go with Cody vs Wardlow in the cage next week for the main event but man, Moxley vs Cobb in the main event smells money to me.

And now, I don't know why but you just remind me that story about Heyman & Blassie (both told on Heyman's DVD and an episode of Story Time) in which a teenage Heyman shared a ride with Freddie Blassie and Heyman thought he was gonna die because of Blassie's bad driving.

I truly discovered Tim Storm during the days when he was heavily involved in the now defunct Traditional Championship Wrestling TV shows. (I think he was NWA World Heavyweight Champion at the time) and it was what....8 years ago? I'm still amazed that he's now more over in the NWA than he was during the TCW days (and he was pretty over at that time)...That's a testament to how NWA management has been able to recognize that Storm was the best fit as that white meat babyface people would rally behind.

WWE TV 02/03 - 02/09 Patrick Mahomes might be The Guy
SirEdger replied to KawadaSmile's topic in WWE
Apparently, WWE is preparing to pitch their final offer to keep The Revival around this week. Not trying to read into anything but with Dash deleting his Twitter account over the weekend, I'm thinking that no matter what they offer them, Dash & Dawson are gone in April. -
It could actually be more dangerous for the CFL than anything. If the NFL poaches players from the XFL left and right, the XFL will compete with the CFL to grab the same undrafted, late drafted or cut players from the NFL. Of course, the CFL's got longevity going for them and they probably are in the same brackets when it comes to salary caps and such. So eventually, this could force the CFL to rely more than ever on Canadian players rather than a mix of American & Canadian players.

While I'm not against Jericho keeping the title at Revolution, I'm concerned as to what a loss to Moxley would do at the moment if you decide to move Jericho to the next contender (which, in reality, there isn't any in singles on the babyface other than Mox unless you go for the Hangman rematch). Jericho won't be hurt by a loss to Moxley - especially if you somehow have the Elite neutralize the Inner Circle, to then setup that War Games Match. If they go with a fuckery finish and blow off the feud at Double or Nothing in May, I could live with that but AEW has to strike the iron while it's hot on many wrestlers.
-
I definitely love the pace of the game and how while very different from what we see in the NFL, their rules adaptations for the PAT and kickoff returns are adding to the excitement of the game. I think Vince finally understood that he had to focus on the game rather than the extras.

Fantasy booking here....what if EC3 landed somehow in AEW after being released by WWE? Compared to MJF, considering that they have very similar characters as heels, how do you think he'd fare? Would his upside be similar to MJF's?
