People's perception of wrestler's sizes.
KawadaSmile replied to Memphis Mark's topic in Megathread archive
Never really understood how this myth that Hero got fired due to his weight still persists. At the time of his release he was actually pretty damn slim - I'd say he actually lost weight while there. -

I don't think he lost any bookings as well because of it. I remember watching him tagging with Cesaro in NOAH, wearing some awful looking pants and doing wacky holds. After watching him in the indies in the last 2 years he seemed like a pretty damn different wrestler, not only due to his build, but because he also changed his style so it fit his body type better. -

Seriously? Never really saw that. Most people I saw commenting on him were "in" on his character Which is why I seldom saw any criticism of his frame. He, much like Hero, makes his unusual body type (for this business, that is) work to his advantage. Of course, he is a comedy low card guy, and Hero is a upper card to main event level fella, but both use their different images to their advantages. -

Cheeseburger is the scrawniest dude in wrestling history and is amazingly over, and I've yet to see someone complain about that. ZSJ just need to work on his arms a lil' bite more, IMO. He's built like Giant Baba from Virtual Pro Wrestling 2, almost. -
As much as the current situation says that they are not ready yet for big PPV headlines, this current generation of female wrestlers are showing that they can actually main event things. Sasha, Charlotte and Bayley all have main evented RAW episodes in the past, and their matches were very praised and got the crowd very excited for the action. The HiaC main event, despite the blown table spot, was actually the most memorable match in that card, and the crowd was actually losing their shit over it. Saying that they are not ready for a WM headline, which would be true for the moment, does not take away from the fact that they can headline smalled events and PPVs, which honestly is a major improvement over only 3 years ago. I'm glad that they got this far and I hope that in a few years, this idea of a Women's Title Match headlining WM or Summerslam isn't a farfetched one. This "Vince hates women" narrative is a bit shoddy right now when you actually see how they are actually portrayed. Hates them so much he's giving them the main event of Raw and an actual PPV main event.

Rick Rude confirmed. Solid class.

The problem is that KO's universal title run was very, very bad. It felt more like a comedy midcard geeky act than someone who they actually see as a major star. I'd much, much rather see him step down the card for a while and see this sort of special attraction match at Wrestlemania 33 than him stinking it up against Jericho for the, at worst, #2 title in the company

This reign of terror is mercifully over.

Braun kicked out of the spear which has rarely been done in like years, and people still complain. I get that people were expecting Undertaker shenanigans, but still the match was very good the way it was.

Jesus Christ the bumps Gallagher took in this match

Nice finishing spot to Big Show/Rusev but puzzling booking.
-
Nia vs Sasha so far was the best match of the card. Finish was a bit iffy in execution, but overall it was very enjoyable.

Glad the Milwaukee crowd was into the 205 tag. Hopefully they keep that fire going on for the rest of the event.
-
On paper, yes. But it's kinda fucked when the live crowd kept chanting for Randy as he was setting someone else's property on fire.

Randy Orton doing his pose in front of a burning shack has got to be the best image WWE gave us in the past 10 years or so. That whole segment was fantastic television, partly due to how absurd it was. About Rollins, it's hard to say why or how, but when you look at his run as NXT champ and heel turn as Shield member, he actually WAS a decent promo, which means he got worse with time. Nowadays he's pretty much interchangeable with Apollo Crews - although Crews did have a good match yesterday, better than many a Rollins match against superior talent.

Personally, I wouldn't be bothered by Roman going over Strowman, although I do feel that they are pulling some shenanigans there. At Wrestlemania, Braun should eliminate EVERYONE in the Andre Memorial Battle Royal. Literally everyone in that match. Show no mercy, etc.

[2017-02-20-WWE-Raw] Big Show vs Braun Strowman
KawadaSmile replied to ShittyLittleBoots's topic in February 2017
I thought this match was awesome and they had the crowd from the get-go, which is incredible considering BIG LAD WRESTLING ain't exactly that popular anymore. What I enjoyed is not only Strowman looked like a beast, kicking out of both the chokeslam and the KO punch, but Big Show also looked impressive kicking out of the running powerslam, something that has never been done before. **** 1/4. -
Apparently RAW was in autopilot this week except for the actual main event. BRAUN vs Big Show seemed to be fucking incredible.

Yes for both Nakamura/Roode and Cena/Styles III. The former, on paper, had everything to be a mess of a match, and while the first half wasn't very eventful, from the moment Nakamura injured his knee onward, it turned into something brilliant. I'd rank this even above the Dallas match against Zayn, and Roode contributed just as much to make this match work way more than it should. The latter, albeit not as good as their Summerslam match, still delivered with intensity and hot nearfalls. Cena's lariat is something beautiful, like Bald Bull charging full throttle for that massive hit. The AA/roll through-AA combo was incredible, too, and it played off to their previous match.

I don't think that hosting the company's biggest event of the year is "lame" in any shape of form, specially to a full time act like the New Day. If anything, it indicates that WWE trusts them well enough to be placed in that actually very important role and that should not be overlooked.
-
Holy shit, DDP is also going to be inducted into this year's HOF class.

Enzo being an awful, awful wrestler isn't exactly the worst part. What I find way worse it how people cheer for him when in every single storyline he's involved, he's the least likeable guy. He's just an asshole of a character, I cannot comprehend how he's a face. But of course, this episode was really, REALLY good. So was SD's, but that's almost a given.

Unbelievable action, from start to finish. The year barely started and AJ already has at least 5 great performances. I like how it seems that Harper's got Wyatt's number as well, which makes the main event scene look fucking strong.

Charlotte could win by DQ and Bayley would retain. The PPV streak would not be broken, and they could set that at Wrestlemania. Also, Mark Henry vs Braun Strowman was one of my highlights yesterday. Can't wait for Strowman vs Big Show.
