Johnny, you're wrong. I have friends who have always been WWF/E friends who refused to watch WCW. I have friends who dropped out of watching wrestling when WCW went out of business. We see people defend TNA to this day but rip on WWE. People choose a product and stick with it.

This was played up huge on TV the next few months with extended ambulance sequence and Beulah wearing a neckbrace.

[1997-05-03-ECW-Trenton, NJ] The Eliminators vs Tracy Smothers & Little Guido
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1997
Corrected the date as 5/3/97. Eliminators vs. FBI (5/3/97) - Tommy Rich is on fire before the match. I think the FBI may be the perfect team to counter the Elims spotty nature. They can counter the spots with fluid motion. They can control the tempo of the match, do their shtick in the middle of the match and allow the Elims to hit all of their posts on a big comeback. I am not really a fan of Kronus but I thought both guys were fine here. I don’t see this not making the set. It may be the one Eliminators match on the set where I didn’t have to hold my nose in order to put it on. Easy nomination. -
This lucha set is one of the easiest to watch and one of the hardest to edit down to 100 matches. We have about 30 more matches to yay or nay and we'll have a final listing out soon but El Dandy will be all over it.
-
I really wanted to axe this segment from the set because it sucked so bad but hey... you get John Tenta and Brady Boone.

I wanted to bump this because I know Loss made this post initially because of the 1990s El Dandy stuff. When the 1980s lucha set is released, and El Dandy is seen from 1984-1989, he may go down as one of the best 5 wrestlers of all time when combined with his peak 1990s stuff. There are at least 16 Dandy matches that will be on the set with possibly 4-5 more to come. He ahd one tag match with El Satanico as his partner and that one tag may put them in my Top Two tag teams of all time.

[1997-05-18-WCW-Slamboree] Steven Regal vs Ultimo Dragon
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in May 1997
I watched this and reviewed it when putting the set together... Steven Regal vs. Ultimo Dragon (Slamboree 1997) - Regal no longer wants to go by “Lord” and Dusty proceeds to call him Lord Regal. Weird dynamic since both guys are heels but if Sonny Ono wasn’t at ringside, you know the fans would cheer Dragon easily. I love watching Regal on the mat. He was doing a test of strength spot and casually pushes down on Dragon’s calf to get the advantage. When Dragon was in a pinning position, Regal puts his knee in Dragon’s face to try and get the pin. Beautiful. Dragon controls with a headlock and they keep it moving including Regal locking his hands together in order to put Dragon in a pinning position. Usually guys just grab the tights or roll over. When Dragon goes on offense, it was pretty nasty and Regal eats it better than anyone. Regal continues to go for the Regal Stretch and the announcers do a good job of playing it up. Another example of Regal doing the little things right…. He elbows Dragon in the knee!!! Hot finish with a nice Regal chant going, some nice nearfalls from Dragon, Regal going back for the Regal Stretch and even some fighting outside. Dragon hits the Asai moonsault and it feels like a huge victory for Dragon to finally hit that move. Interference from Ono backfires and he hits Dragon in the back of the head. As Dragon faces Ono, Regal kicks him in the head, throws him in the ring, hits a reverse suplex and finally locks in the Regal Stretch. Really great stuff here. Not the best Regal match out there but I am glad I watched it. -
Looks like I fumbled my first post. I feel like Fred Ottman when he first appeared as the shockmaster. Yeah. don't worry about that. We all revisit old topics. Guys like jdw like bumping old threads. I like it when new topics are created. Neither way is right or wrong. Keep posting.

[1997-04-13-ECW-Barely Legal] The Eliminators vs Dudley Boys
goodhelmet replied to Loss's topic in April 1997
Yep, only included because of the title change. The Dudleys will play a bigger role in yearbooks to come so we started early in tracing their title wins and losses. -

Because it was Memphis's version of the Mulkeys-Gladiators except that this was a title change for the tag belts. -
Does he use a napkin or wipe his hands on his pants?

I don't think Bryan has been built properly though. He was in a tag team role for a year and boom... #1 contender. I agree Christian was there in 2011 but as we have seen with Mark Henry, a guy can be repackaged and voila, championship material. Christians look has zero to do with if he is championship material.
-
Ok, I was going to respond to a post in another thread about Christian not being world championship material. In this day and age where CM Punk is getting 400+ day World Title runs and Daniel Bryan is headlining Summerslam, how can you look at a guy and say he isn't World Champion material? The fact of the matter is that World Title material is anyone who the company chooses to be champion and can get over with the crowd regardless of promo ability or physique. So, what exactly is world champion matial to you? Is it based on physique, size, wrestling skills, promo ability? Don't just say the IT factor or I'll have new moderator Childs ban you!

Married with kids? When do you have time to watch?
goodhelmet replied to Smack2k's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't fit it all in. That is why I am always behind on my projects Seriously, I just Take out blocks of time and work out a schedule with the wife. Plus, we don't watch the same tv shows so if she is watching Lifetime or some shit, I sneak away and watch wrestling. With the baby, half the time he is sitting on my lap while I am working on sets anyway. -
I'm on vacation. Did I miss something?
