  1. If you accept Dave's view, then you should not watch old footage. You should just accept his word on what was good and what sucked. And if you happen to see old footage, just like what Dave liked because that is the right thing to like. But of course you should watch old footage because that perspective is fucking stupid. The entire 80s DVDVR project and 90s Yearbook project blow that whole fucking thing out of the water. We are discovering so many fucking great matches, when the entire thing is done, I probably never need to watch anything but 80s sets and 90s yearbooks again and be happy to be a wrestling fan. And people are disagreeing about what was good and what was bad on those too. I find it really strange that when Dave disagrees with somebody, he pulls out such a lazy defense. We can't believe our lying eyes? Fuck it, I call dibs on a Brody podcast. Anyone want to join in?
  2. I think Loss said it best earlier... Dave thinks people shitting on Brody are comparing him to today's wrestlers. I don't think he knows or cares people are comparing Brody to his peers.
  3. I thought Baby Face was awesome on the 80s set. His feud with La Fiera kicked ass. I also rewatched the Baby Face vs. Gran Hamada match from the NJ set and I was completely wrong about that match. Baby Face sorta kinda does indeed rule.
  4. Loss and I have been privately comparing Luger and Sting for years. I think the main issue in outright calling Luger better was that Sting had the Vader series that is so awesome. We really started picking up steam when we picked up a bunch of the 1989 B shows where Luger was having really good TV matches on top of the Clash and PPV matches.
  5. Boricua, the problem with putting Puerto Rico on the yearbooks is that until you came around, nobody knew he dates to any of the stuff.
  6. If anyone has an mp3 of this song, would love to have it as a finishing touch for the 1990 Year In Review that Loss, Childs and I did.

  10. The whole point of doing podcasts like the lucha podcast or the soon to be released 1990 year in review is so people will be interested enough to eventually see it for themselves. If you have 5 people praising El Dandy over 2 podcasts, I hope it encourages you to seek out more El Dandy.
  11. Killer Khan? Killer Khan rules. His best work is awesome.
  12. this is absolutely a perfect fit. I may close the thread now if it wasn't for my interest in songs played at strip clubs. When I first went to a strip club, they were still playing Hot Legs 20 years after it was a hit. I am guessing Pour Some Sugar on Me would fit that mold. Anything pre-Sugar that is still in the main event?
  13. Agreed. I think the easiest thing for Austin to do is read the mailbag, have listeners point out Flair was not there when Brody died and move on. No need to argue with Flair on the air (if he did know which i don't think he did) and waste time on it.
  14. I don't think he did. His research is wikipedia and youtube.

  17. Hell, lets try a Starrcade super card. We'll make it a 12 match card, split between two cities! Shinjiro Ohtani vs. Eddie Guerrero Ivan and Nikita Koloff vs. Ole Anderson & Keith Larsen Rick Steiner vs. Mike Rotunda (TV Title) Doom vs. Arn Anderson & Barry Windham (Tag Title) Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine (Dog Collar Match) Sting vs. Vader (King of Cable) Ultimo Dragon vs. Dean Malenko Midnight Express vs. Original Midnight Express Jimmy Valiant vs. Paul Jones (Hair vs. Hair) Manny Fernandez vs. Abdullah the Butcher Magnum TA vs. Tully Blanchard (I Quit Cage Match) (US Title) Ric Flair vs. Ron Garvin (Cage Match) (World Title)
  18. I am having fun doing these dream cards so lets hit lucha. This is hard becasue there are so many freaking great long matches, no way a lucha super card doesn't burn a crowd out with those 2/3 falls matches. I minimized the amount of hair/mask matches and I don't know which matches are title matches. Hell, once you put Satanico and Dandy in matches, you eliminate 40 matches. La Fiera vs. Babyface (8/15/86) Atlantis y Lizmark vs. El Egipcio y El Faraón (2/17/84) Jerry Estrada vs. Ultraman (3/2/84) Kato Kung Lee vs. Kung Fu (Mask vs. Hair) (4/29/88) MS-1 vs. Sangre Chicana (9/23/83) *Intermission* Raul Reyes Jr. & Climax vs. Mocho Cota & Loco Zavala (Sonora 1985) El Hijo del Santo vs. Negro Casas (Mask vs. Hair) (7/18/87) El Brazo, Brazo Del Oro y Brazo Del Plata vs. Hombre Bala, Pirata Morgan y El Verdugo (Super Libre) (11/10/89) Emilio Charles vs. El Dandy (Hair v. Hair) (7/28/89) Gran Cochise vs. Satanico (9/14/84)
  19. If yo uare nejoying the wrestling yo uwatch, badass!!! At the same time we don't want PWO to become a place where you can't enjoy yourself and mark out a little. It shouldn't be a place where you get scolded by jdw every time you don't read an old thread before posting or feel like you have to write an essay to contribute. Having said that, keep writing and posting! We don't want this place to be a ghost town either.
  20. Let me phrase this better... I am not saying analyzing wrestling can't be fun. I am saying it isn't the only reason to watch wrestling which nerds like us tend to do... analyze something to death without sitting back and enjoying what is going on before our eyes. Also, I have done enough podcasts with Johnny to know that he is quite capable of analyzing wrestling and knows what the difference between good and bad wrestling is in his view and he is quite capable of articulating that. Just watching wrestling for fun without analysis doesn't really do a place like this good because what the hell would there be to talk about. On the other hand, if you are so caught up in your analysis that the fun is not in the product but in your essay, I can't agree with that either.

    Aren't heels?
  22. I want to add that Austin isn't a journalist. I don't agree with Matt's analysis is fun line or Johnny's "Austin not being a dick is awesome" line. I honestly think Austin doesn't care if it was true or not.
  23. Interesting because when I watched them back to back years ago, i came away thinking this match sucked and the PPV match was awesome.
  24. All Japan had a lot of wrestlers appear more than once so once you do a super card, very hard to do another card on the same night. I threw in Sheik vs. Steamboat in just for Jerry even though I like the match too. I had to end the night with Jumbo-Tenryu. Nothing else felt right. Joe Malenko vs. Dean Malenko Ricky Steamboat vs. The Sheik (Brawl) Tiger Mask vs. La Fiera Footloose vs. Takano & Nakano Giant Baba vs. Harley Race *Intermission* Masa Fuchi vs. Hiro Saito (Brawl) Riki Choshu vs. Killer Khan (Bloodbath) Terry Funk vs. Stan Hansen (Bloodbath) Nick Bockwinkel vs. Billy Robinson Jumbo Tsuruta vs. Genichiro Tenryu

Heh... that's when wrestling is at its best... when it crushes a little kid's dreams.
