  1. During a match with Kerry he took off Kerry's boot and exposed the fact that his foot had been amputated in the motorcycle accident.
  2. Polo: What kind of wrestling did you do, Gorilla? Monsoon: Greco-Roman, Freestyle. . . Polo: Any mud wrestling? Hot Oil? Monsoon: No. Polo: Banana wrestling? Monsoon: Stop. Polo: Even though it was invented by your relatives?
  3. I just recently watched the match and I hated it. Hardy's selling was fucking horrible. He takes a 20 foot fall off the ladder and then a few minutes later he's stalking RVD with a chair. When RVD kicks it in his face, *then* Jeff decides it's time to actually sell. They get back into the ring and start running through their signature moves, until Jeff wipes out on the swanton and then RVD finishes him off. Van Dam was actually decent, he really made Jeff's stuff toward the end look convincing, but Jeff didn't seem to give a shit one way or the other. He totally blew off the ladder fall, when a similar bump the year before at WM had totally taken him out of the match.
  4. I seem to recall a spell in 1991 or so when Ricky Steamboat was known as simply "The Dragon" and there wasn't any mention of his name. The same thing when Tito Santana became "El Matador" although later on his name was tacked onto the end.
  5. I liked the MVP/Benoit matches, but it's hard to have a bad match with Benoit, and Benoit was clearly the better of the two of them. MVP's peak was his promo the first week after he got drafted to RAW, when he was calling out Orton. I thought it would lead to an Orton/MVP program and move him up the ladder. Instead he dropped the US Title to Kofi and got thrown together with Mark Henry and went back to SD.
  6. I thought that the Dudleys were turned face so that E&C could be the top heel team, and not have to risk losing heat.
  7. Isn't that the same show with Bulldogs vs. Rock 'n' Rolls?
  8. Well he's kinda right for the most part. Punk made a name for himself in the midwest working for IWA and in St. Paul. During the same time-frame, American Dragon, Low Ki, Spanky, and others were way more well known and worked a hell of a lot more places. Punk wasn't even doing much in ROH until the Raven feud, and it was a Raven-style program, carried more by promos and interviews rather than matches.
  9. I'm hoping Cena's "firing" doesn't turn into a carbon copy of when Austin got "fired" in 1998, where he's all over TV tomorrow night, and he gets a new contract next week. I'd like to see WWE at least pretend that the stip matters and keep him off TV for a few weeks, and bring him in as a guest host or something and then orchestrate his return.

  12. JR's blog made it pretty clear that the whole thing was a work to continue the heel Michael Cole thing. But Lawler sure seemed like he was getting legit angry. He said in his book that he doesn't go to production meetings and stuff, so maybe he had no idea that Cole was gonna do it.
  13. Last night's RAW could have been attrocious, but I think it turned out pretty good. The old ring, music, set, logos, etc. really made the show feel fresh. My only complaint was that they didn't run the show at MSG and use the ring mic that hangs from the ceiling.
  14. I don't recall the exact quote offhand, John, but the context was that he was talking about hanging out with Meltzer and threw in that he was chilling with Meltzer and "John Williams"
  15. I started loling when Lawler told Cole that he could write his life story on a piece of confetti.
  16. Yeah, AJ once called a fan at an ROH show if Buffalo "fhehggit."
  17. I didn't feel like bumping the mythbusters thread since the Von Erich talk was way back in the beginning of it, so here's a few observations regarding the Von Erichs as I've watched Will's comp. 1. The booking was tremendous, David helping the Freebirds win the six man titles and then graciously stepping aside so Buddy can have a share of the title, only hours before they cost Kerry the world title. 2. Kerry really does look to be the best of the boys as far as inside the ring goes. I'm especially digging his footwork, such as the little shuffle he does when he gets into the ring and when he's making the big comeback. 3. Why was Kerry allowed to talk on the microphone? His promos all sound like he's on Neptune, even what should be an angry fired up one soon after the cage match. 4. I can see why people seem to think David was the best. He really seemed to have an aura about him like he was headed for bigger things. Plus, he seemed to be good on the microphone.
  18. Aside from him explaining a "heel" is someone who only acts like an asshole, I have no clue what he's talking about.
  19. Some sad news today, Joe Higuchi passed away today at the age of 81.
  20. I always got a kick out of the little angle from Guilty as Charged 2000 when Tajiri was supposed to wrestle Super Crazy in a Dream Partner match, but Corino chose Crazy as Tajiri's partner.
  21. The quoted part is totally on the money, Jingus, but the fact is that those aren't really the reasons why most companies don't want employees posting shit online. It's more aimed to prevent me going onto my facebook and saying "I fucking hate working at the McDonalds on Erie Blvd in Syracuse. My managers name is John Smith and he's a douchebag" There was a story in the news a month or two ago when a guy went on his twitter and commented how a local grocery store chain wasn't at good as its competitor. A corporate rep saw the post and went off her rocker and tried to contact the person's employer and get them in trouble. The guy showed the whole thing to his SU professor who called the media and bang! Three days straight on the local news about the awful grocery store who can't take criticism.
  22. People within wrestling always seem to think that people not involved don't know shit about shit when it comes to wrestling. I saw something like that on my local indy fed's board. One of the wrestlers, who didn't even have one match under his belt at the time, went off on another poster with that point. He basically told him that if he really knew anything then he'd be involved in wrestling and not buying tickets and DVDs.
  23. Listen to some of Paul Heyman's commentary during Albert's little 2001 singles push.
  24. I seem to recall reading somewhere, a long time ago, that Goldberg wanted to include the Star of David on his trunks while he was in WCW.
  25. Watching the Invasion PPV really shows how bad WWF screwed up this angle. The crowd at the PPV was red-hot for everything the whole night, even the joke of a match between Earl Hebner and Nick Patrick. Also, as far as X-Pac heat goes, William Regal got booed even worse than X-Pac at the PPV.
