More Wrestling Than Wrestling: SLL's new feature at Cageside Seats
MikeCampbell replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think that's actually what Dave was talking about. I first saw it get used when he compared the buyrate to the UFC PPV with Ortiz vs. Shamrock to whatever PPVs WWE and TNA ran in the same month, and his take on why UFC obliterated them as far as PPV buys went. -
I'm hoping the documentary portion gives the Jericho/Malenko feud its due. I've always felt that was that feud that really highlighted Jericho's promo skills and turned him into the Chris Jericho we know today. The pop when Malenko unmasks at Slamboree was awesome.

Anyone have an idea of how complete the TV version of this match is? This was included on the ECW "Big Ass Extreme Bash" comm release and only a couple of minutes is shown.
-
Is this what eventually led to him turning heel and becoming JC "The Ice Baby"?
-
Was there anything from Yujiro and Naito's run in CMLL last year that anyone here would recommend checking out? Stuart was pimping them as fucking great heels when they came back to Japan, but I'd long ago learned that Stu views anything related to NJPW with rose colored glasses. Still, the anti-Mexico gimmick sounds like a lot of fun.

PWInsider posted several newsbits regarding TNA's version of One Night Stand. Some of the more interesting things reported: - There was a different plan for the PPV until Dreamer pitched this idea to Dixie Carter and she went along with it. - Dreamer has been given total control over the show. - Shane Douglas wants to wrestle Ric Flair - TNA hopes to have RVD vs. Jerry Lynn headline the show. - One talent, who has been off of TV for years, is refusing to come in unless he is was granted a multi-year contract by TNA. I'm at a loss for who the unnamed talent in the last newsbit is. Anyone have any guesses?

I don't think he's been entirely accepted yet. I've mentioned before that I work with an aspiring MMA fighter, and he's one of several guys I know who despise Brock. Every time Brock has a fight, they swear up and down that Brock will get beat and quit. Then when Brock wins they pull lame ass excuses out of their asses. "Brock will lose because he can't take a punch and Carwin will KO him!" "Brock only won because of the lousy reffing, and he took Carwin down, so he can't stand and bang with the big boys!" Of course, maybe the group I know are a huge minority.

I remember a Hardcore TV episode, shortly after Raven came back in '99, dedicated to the Dreamer/Raven history, and Styles mentioning that Beulah's baby being Tommy's got them kicked off a few TV stations. Right after Beulah got out "It's Tommy's" they cut right to commercial and came back with Tommy kicking Raven's ass.

Considering what's acceptable on TV in 2010, yes it does seem odd. But probably not odd for 1996. People always used to talk about how Roseanne pushed the envelope for what was acceptable on prime time TV, when you watch reruns of it now, it'd downright tame.

Has there been any sort of official confirmation that the WWE'e Elimination Chamber DVD is going to include the full 2005 version of the match? The initial material on the release simply listed the match as "HHH wins his third chamber in a row" but the new one lists the full match.

After his match at tonight's Chikara show, Danielson says he's TNA bound.

"He's ambitiously stupid" - Why Scott Keith's new book is scary bad

http://www.rspwfaq.com/2010/06/26/i-dont-r...battle-royales/ Since the PWI MOTY was a battle royale, then obviously there wasn't anything good in 1972. -
I can sort of understand her logic here (without the benefit of context of the question asked and her whole answer). "Fire Russo" to her, means that they hate the booking. Shit rolls downhill, always has and always will. So if the fans dislike the booking, then it's going to be the low man on the totem pole who feels the brunt of it. It's no different than last year when the WWE started feeling the impact of the shitty economy. They didn't respond by firing HHH, Orton, Cena, etc. when they headlined PPVs that drew less money than the previous year. They responded by laying off front office staff.

It's funny, I was thinking the same thing actually. He's working every indy out there it seems, but not ROH at all. Unless all these indy promoters really opened up the purse strings, or Danielson made enough in his short time in WWE to lower his price. It seems odd that he'd work for so many little feds but not one where he'd make a decent payday. Of course ROH is also on television. . . .

Charlie Haas did at one point. He commented after his first release that it wasn't Johnny's fault, he had the hardest job in the world.

I've only seen the 2000 and 1983 timelines with Rikishi and Muraco. Neither blew me away. I could see why HTM would be entertaining, but I'm sure it's chock full of his usual BS. Cornette's Youshoot is the best by a country mile. New Jack's was pretty funny and Bob Holly's was actually surprisingly informative and Bob really comes across as a nice guy. But Cornette's is miles better.

If Vince is so against spitting, then explain Carlito. He spent the better part of five years spitting apple in people's faces.
-
I recall when he was released, the summer of 2008, he'd started doing the singing gimmick and he'd just been drafted to Smackdown.
-
Other than the Jeff Hardy thing, the only other times I can recall someone being mentioned by name on WWE TV after they'd left the company were Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. Hall in 2002, when Flair (RAW GM) made an offhand remark that Hall had been fired. Nash in 2005 during a Jericho/Christian segment where Cena and HBK had a mystery partner and Jericho commented that Nash would blow out his knee answering the phone.

Jake's side of the story, per Beyond the Mat and his Pick Your Poison DVD, is that Grizzly raped the thirteen year old daughter of the woman he was dating at the time, and that Grizzly always had a thing for young girls.

I work with a guy who does small time MMA, and once asked him about that actually. He explained to me that whatever weight a fighter walks around at, he'll cut weight down to the next class down. The guy I work with walks around at 225, so he cuts to 205 for his fights. It sounds harder than it is, according to him, because the fighters are generally training and dieting 24/7, they just amp things up a lot when they're getting ready to fight as opposed to staying in shape, so they can drop weight rather easily.
-
I'm sure there are several promoters who fall into that category.

Carlito has been endeavored due to wellness issues.

Aside from the corny Becoming the Dragon skits, I've got no beef with most of the contents. Although, like has already been said I'd have rather seen the Chi Town match with Flair instead of the Clash VI match.

It sounds like a safe assumption to me.
