This and this: Every match from Japan in the folder for June, for example, is just randomly assigned ****+. Not that it really matters, but I highly doubt every match occurring in 2018 in Japan is an all-time classic.
-
Just got tickets for both nights. I was there for the second night last year and it was a blast. Super stoked for watching Meiko live.
-
Not a knock on anyone, but jump into the match discussion threads on here and it sorta baffles me when I read: Although the match wasn't great... or something along that line and then it's rated at ****1/4. How can something not be great, yet be rated that high?

Given they have Low Ki and are now booking the Hart Foundation, they will fumble it if they don't book a feud between them. That's easily one of the greatest feuds in indy wrestling history that many people haven't seen as it mostly developed in JAPW.

Teddy is awesome. He wrestled Johnny Hennigan first and then Vandal Ortagun from the CWC. He wasn't wreckless and is way over. Jimmy Havoc got a nasty cut on his arm. They rushed the finish and it seems he was rushed to the hospital. Strickland dropped the title to Low Ki in a total shocker. Strickland is announced in title defenses for the next 2 shows, but I hope this doesn't mean he's signed with EVOLVE and won't be returning. Aria Blake turned on Joey Janela. I'm guessing they're bringing Penelope Ford. Pentagón Jr. and Rey Fénix vs. ACH and Rich Swann was a crazy PWG tornado tag match style match. Kotto Brazil took a wild swing with Sami Callihan's baseball bat and hit Sawyer Fulton really hard in the back and left a nasty welt. Fred Yehi is a member of Team Filthy.

Yeah, that seems likely. They're heading to New York and then to Ft. Lauderdale. Oh well, was fun while it lasted. They changed the Ft. Lauderdale show from Fury Road to War Games...

MLW just announced Homicide vs. PCO at Battle Riot.
-
For what it's worth, they will air a 2 hour special of this event on beIN a week or so after it happens. Teddy Hart, Davey Boy Smith Jr., Low Ki and Homicide are all going to be in the Battle Riot... If only we got some lengthy interactions between those 4...

She's a local. It's cheaper having her manage Janela than fly in Penelope. Sick card. Much better than the ones they are holding down here in Orlando. I've been to all of their shows, except the first one One Shot and the last show where they crowned the tag champs as I was on vacation out of the country. I've getting tickets for Thursdays show however. They are heading to Ft. Lauderdale for the next event after the Battle Riot event which is quite a drive, so I won't be attending that. Thursdays card is: MLW World Title: Shane Strickland (c) vs. Low Ki MLW World Tag Team Title: Pentagón Jr. & Rey Fénix (c) vs. ACH & Rich Swann Jimmy Havoc vs. Tom Lawlor John Hennigan vs. Teddy Hart Jake Hager vs. Fred Yehi Falls Count Anywhere Match: Joey Janela vs. MJF Jason Cade vs. Jimmy Yuta Plus I'm sure there will be 2-3 unannounced matches to fill out the card. I was super stoked when I saw they booked an unannounced Teddy Hart and that they are making him a regular. I'm a huge fan of his as he carries this odd presence around him and the dude is legit nuts. I specially love his feud with Homicide. It's easily the most underrated feud of all-time. It's sort of a bummer they can't use WWN guys anymore and I'm actually surprised Strickland was able to work EVOLVE being the MLW champ. and that Janela will be back for the Orlando show. That entire WWN pulling their guys sorta hurt the roster and a lot of the storylines as we never got a culmination in the Priscilla Kelly vs. Santana Garrett feud, Darby Allin just disappeared from the Havoc, Janela, Callihan feud, Riddle disappeared after the title tournament final match, Stokley Hathaway disappeared and we didn't get to see how Black Friday Management was going to develop, etc.

Alright, just got back home... Firstly, the venue staff -- what a fiasco. They didn't even have ticket scanners and just let anyone in who would show them a ticket. Also, given the amount of seats and fans, anyone could sit anywhere. The event was scheduled to start at 8:30 PM EST and it started at 9:05 PM. The dark matches sucked. I like Nakazawa's Nuru Nuru gimmick as I think it can be entertaining. His promo was one of the highlights of the show. Him saying Japanese wrestlers are better than American wrestlers got a pop because y'know, these are super hardcore loyal kewl Nu Nippon fans who's opinion is anything Japan > anything American. Liger vs. Romero was OK and one of the reasons I went -- the novelty of watching Liger live. Liger was way over. Tonga & Loa vs. Robinson & Finlay was pretty bad. Neither side does anything for me and I find Robinson particularly awful. Tonga and Loa were over, however. There was this creepy male fan who spent the entire match screaming at Tonga to throw him his tank top... Yikes... Cobb vs. Owens was a tad better than the previous two matches, but again, nothing special or memorable. I'm a big Cobb fan, but I've enjoyed his matches I've seen of his in MLW more than this one. The same fan asking Tonga for his tank top endlessly kept on ragging on Owens and he even mocked his physique even though the fan himself y'know wasn't really a body builder... Lee & Taguchi vs. Sho & Yoh was not good, but Lee busted a crazy huracanrana over the top rope. Taguchi was over too. Omega & Ibushi vs. Naito & Takahashi this wasn't particularly a great match, but it was easily MOTN. Some gross bumps by Ibushi and Naito in the finishing run. Both teams were really over with the fans. I thought this was a really underwhelming show and not worth the 1:30 drive and not worth the $150+ I spent on 2 tickets for my wife and me. Also, not trying to be THAT guy, but just some general thoughts -- if you attend an event, please have some common courtesy. Don't try and make the show about you and don't scream if you're talking to the person beside you as no one really needs to hear or care about your personal conversation. Cheer and chant all you want, but don't make the show about you because it's not about you and there's a very high chance that the majority of your banter isn't funny. I don't follow current New Japan product and I find their fanbase to be super annoying. Just the thought of the All In show being flooded with these types of fans turns me away from it.

Glad I'm not alone. Going to those MLW shows is actually one of the things that has keep me at least remotely interested. Speaking of, I'm heading to the CEO x NJPW show tonight in Daytona Beach. I'm not a current New Japan fan, but the novelty of attending one of their shows live got me. The card will be: Kenny Omega & Kota Ibushi vs. Tetsuya Naito & Hiromu Takahashi Sho & Yoh vs. Dragon Lee & Ryusuke Taguchi Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa vs. Juice Robinson & Dave Finlay Jushin Thunder Liger vs. Rocky Romero Jeff Cobb vs. Chase Owens The show will be streamed live on CEO's Twitch channel for free.

The odd thing with Darby as that he was being built up in a feud with Joey Janela and Sami Callihan before he got injured at WM weekend. He was at the following event after WM weekend, but didn't participate at the show. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ WWN pulling all of their guys from MLW hurt them a bit. It killed the Priscilla Kelly vs. Santana Garrett match they were building, it killed the Darby Allin and Jimmy Havoc vs. Joey Janela and Sami Callihan they were building to, it killed the Black Friday Management faction they were building with Stokely Hathaway, etc.
-
Read WWE tried signing some guys who signed with MLW -- I had no idea MLW had signed anyone, much less anyone WWE would be interested in. MJF, I guess? I think he would great if paired up with the Miz.
-
WWN's audio sucks -- namely during EVOLVE shows. It's almost impossible to understand what Leonard and Ron are saying during opening show segment they do and the music during the entrances just sounds like a total mess. They should really consider investing a couple of bucks on improving their audio.

I just started watching ECW Hardcore TV from the very first episode. It's not a bad show per se -- or at least as bad as I thought when I first started watching these a while back. The episodes are around 45 minutes and the matches are pretty short and not very good or at least they haven't been very good so far, but they aren't particularly awful either.

Can't believe we have hockey fans on here, but not that many are looking forward to the upcoming World Cup...

Has wrestling gone overboard with the various streaming services?
Edwin replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
Not sure what they make, but the JAPW Video On Demand may have only made $9.99 as I maybe the only person who signed up to it and I only signed up for a month as they don't have much footage on there and I pretty much watched everything I wanted from it in a month. -
I watched this a while back, but I honestly don't even remember much about it -- much less thinking this was good or a dream match of any sorts.
-
You can also catch some of the non Fusion shows on their YouTube channel.
-
I've been to all the MLW shows aside from the first one One Shot and they are all fun. Riddle vs. Strickland is up on YouTube, but won't air on Fusion -- was amazing to experience live. Easily the one we've enjoyed the most live. Riddle vs. Cobb, Janela vs. Allin and MJF vs. Yehi are worth watching, too.

Odd. What were you viewing when you came across commercials? I've purchased almost all of the RIZIN and EVOLVE events they've streamed and never encountered this before. -
I'm a big Teddy Hart fan... However, in my defense, his feud with Homicide from JAPW has been fantastic and seriously underrated as not many people have really seen it -- but if you like fish hooking, mouth punching, wild chair swinging, moonsaults off vending machines, bloody brawls, then yeah, you owe it to yourself to see it. To me, it's what a modern day Funk Brothers vs. Sheik and Abdullah feud would look like. Aside from that, his matches aren't usually all-time classics or anything, but similar to Penta, he carries this aura and charisma that makes his stuff must watch to me.

Annoyed, stiff, fist throwing, tight grappling Inoki rules and that's the Inoki we get here. Say what you will abut Inoki, but he packs a mean right hand and his head scissor was deep -- surprising Kobayashi didn't go to sleep. Inoki later loosened it up as it was blatantly choking Kobayashi. Kobayashi is no slouch either and withstands the brutalness Inoki brings and he also locks in some tight, gritty holds. The crowd was somewhat sitting on their hands, but they got hot once Inoki got bloodied up and Kobayashi just blasted the cut with right hands. Great match with a nice slow build to a hot finish. 1970's New Japan is some underrated stuff.

Yeah, this was good -- and I agree with your stance on Gotch and Thesz. I thought Sakaguchi was perfectly fine trying to keep up with Gotch and Thesz, but Inoki just sorta felt there and didn't really add much aside from a nasty bump from a Thesz backdrop. Speaking of, those two Thesz backdrops were brutal for 2018 standards, more so for the 1970's. I think this would have benefited by cutting 10 or so minutes as its kinda lengthy as it goes over 40 plus minutes, but its worth watching for Gotch and Thesz alone.
