JJ feels like a guy who is going to hurt himself doing his own offense. That running spear in the corner looked like something that will squish all his vertebrae together.

Am I missing why it would be such a huge deal that Braun was rude to Karen Jarrett? Kurt Angle, only recently back in the company's good graces after a decade away and myriad public problems, and Braun was possibly rude to a woman he hasn't been married to in a decade....and Braun supposedly panics as if he's insulted Tommy DeVito's mother?

I'm doing a Battleground live blog at Segunda Caida. I'm already loving it because Aiden English got a clean pinfall win. This is truly a momentous night. http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/07/wwe-battleground-2017-live-blog.html

I really loved his 3/19/16 NJPW match against Giant Bernard. He was clearly on his retirement tour (I don't think he worked 10 more matches with New Japan, and maybe no more singles matches), and he couldn't move nearly as well as he used to be able to, and had packed on some weight...but damn did he go out and burn it down. He takes a brutal bump off the apron into the guardrail, gets a big goose egg, really comes off as sympathetic despite still being a monster. I love matches where the old vet is being challenged by a "young" guy, and this had the added emotion of a former top gaijin being roughed up by the current top gaijin, and Norton's performance made it feel like a huge deal.

This is a year removed from his Berzerker run, but I really liked Nord in this tag w/ Hansen against the Youngbloods. The whole match is a real nice 10 minute slab of classic tag wrestling: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/07/the-bad-news-berzerker-goes-to-japan_15.html

Hey, Test wasn't half bad. You're right. He was all bad! StatlerandWaldorf.Jpeg

It would have been the perfect time to bring Cherry into the women's division.

A little late, but I'm doing a live blog of Great Balls over at Segunda Caida: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/07/wwe-great-balls-of-fire-live-blog.html This is the most excited I've been about a WWE show in quite some time. The build for a lot of this stuff has been pretty great. And out of the shows I've live blogged this weekend, this should absolutely blow that New Japan Night 2 G1 show out of the water.

My god that was a dogshit awful show.

Yeah 90s thru 2004 indy results are wildly incomplete on cagematch. I got to the point where I just stopped looking.

Saw AXS was airing Night 2 of their USA shows, figured I would do another live blog: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/07/njpw-g1-special-in-usa-night-2-live-as.html

I think it's safe to add Braun vs. Apollo Crews to this list

Ended up writing too many words on Night 1. Was expecting to FF but it went by pretty quick and had some nice performances. http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/07/njpw-g1-special-in-usa-night-1-next-day.html

I'm only comfortable watching Kurisu vs. young Jado because we know that Jado has lived a fairly normal existence since.
-
Excited for: Dibiase vs. Sid Kamala/Shango vs. Hart/Warrior Demolition vs. Colossal Connection Hart vs. Anvil Michaels/Hart vs. Lawler/Hakushi (That is a killer match-up I never knew I wanted to see!!) I love this kind of stuff, hoping for a couple hidden gems

I actually really loved that stupid main event. It felt like a garbage IWA Mid-South match that nobody would have gotten paid for, except performed by guys who are all getting paid a LOT. It made the whole match really fun, left me in a happy mood.

Was gone most of the day but still decided to do a 3 hours late "live" blog. Don't actually know the matches on the card. http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/06/wwe-money-in-bank-2017-not-live-blog.html

The Jim Ross Is A Grouchy Hateful Vile Human Being thread
EricR replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but AXS just showed Shibata/Ishii from 3/19, before Shibata's brain injury, and every time Shibata would throw a headbutt JR would make all these prescient comments that these could end up damaging him far more in the longterm. It really came off like he was setting himself up for some kind of "Well, I said in earlier matches that these could be his downfall" back pat, even though the commentary was recorded after Shibata's injury. It came off really shitty to me. -
Wait...so if 1/4 stars are still in play in his system...that means he genuinely thought the 1/4 match was 4 points/devations higher than any match in history?

Watched the two AXS episodes showing matches from 2/11/17, and saw Meltzer went ***1/2-***** on all of them, which is just...crazy. Those two 6 mans were outright poor. You could take any 6 people in WWE, give them 12 minutes, and it would be a better match. And even then it would be a total throwaway match that nobody would rate. He's just off his rocker with NJ love. I reviewed Hiromu Takahashi/Dragon Lee and Elgin/Naito matches: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/06/2017-doesnt-make-list-4-12-5-star.html I didn't care for the former, and I was a big fan of Kamaitachi within the CMLL structure. Elgin match was really great until Elgin started dropping massive spots back to back that all got kicked out of. They had me until the lost me.

All the people look so bummed during the crowd shots. They keep cutting to sad people after every heel wins haha. Other than Sasha/Swann this has been a heel dominated show. But the bummed out faces are the best.
-
That was a perplexingly short match.

Doing a live blog over at Segunda Caida, even though the card doesn't look too promising on paper. Those can be the ones that tend to pleasantly surprise, so we'll see: http://segundacaida.blogspot.com/2017/06/wwe-extreme-rules-2017-live-blog.html
