Is John Cena a better worker than Kurt Angle?
Johnny Sorrow replied to Coffey's topic in The Microscope
I get what Loss is saying, totally. But what I'd do to make Shane believable was just create the story in my head that he wanted to be a wrestler, but Vince wouldn't allow it. But since he grew up around all the guys, he'd train with them and picked a few things up, and he was a High School athlete as well. But he wasn't that good and that's why he had to rely on falling from high places on people. -
I remember going to Philly Civic Center Crockett shows in the 80's and getting a buzz on drinking beers. We were only 16-17 and my Dad would usually drop me and my pals off and then taking his girlfriend out for dinner and sightseeing in the city. If you sat in the cheap seats, which were awesome, the beer vendors didn't exactly ask for ID. They'd say "Are you 21?" and we'd say "Yup, sure are." and we'd get served. We'd pretend to be tired and snooze on the ride home. I'm sure my Dad knew but since he knew he was getting laid later I'd guess he let it pass.

I can point to a particular instance that was a blast. I had gotten home from working at the club where we had a bit of an "after party". A co-worker dropped me off and I went to the mailbox where waiting for me was the Memphis set. I went to my room, cracked open another beer and put on the First Family disc. I sat there laughing and drunk as the First Family was having their BBQ where they were all drunk and it was a good time.

I totally forgot about the Islanders, but Rotundo and Spivey were on TV for only a little while, despite how long they were around. Still not enough for an IC Tag division. Studd and Bundy were more of a presence. Like I said, come 88 you had more than enough teams to do it.

WRONG I agree with Vic. Demolition did not stink because of Bill Eadie. You know what I mean. Eadie was a great wrestler. He looked cool as fuck as the Masked Superstar. As Axe...he looked stupid. Darsow looked somewhat better as Smash, but he sucked.

Bruno was still the fucking MAN to many people in the Northeast. Let me share a story I've told before. My Mom took me and a few pals to see WrestleMania 1 live on giant closed circuit TV at the Philly Spectrum, cause MSG was sold out. We were 14. She brought along a few Cosmos to read, and her needlepoint. At the end of the David Sammartino/ Beefcake match when Bruno ran in and cleaned house the entire Spectrum was on it's feet going crazy..including my Mom who'd dropped her needlepoint and was jumping up and down cheering for Bruno to kick some ass..because when she was a kid...Bruno was a hero to her. She had never even told me that for some reason, but at that moment she dropped her guard and revealed that at one time she had been a fan. And to Italian kids of the 60's, Bruno was GOD. And he was totally a draw in 86. The only reason David had a job was to get Bruno to wrestle now and again. I've always wanted to see that Baltimore Hogan and Bruno vs Bundy and One Man Gang match.

Oh for Christ's sake. Demolition stunk because Bill Eadie looked ridiculous as soon as he took off the cool studded black hood and revealed a middle aged guy in clown makeup with his hair slicked back. Sorry.

86? Besides the Bees and the Brothers who else was there? The Bulldogs were on top, Sheik and Volkoff were still sorta going, there was the Dream Team. I guess if you counted the Funks, JYD and Santana, and Muraco and Orton, you'd have a number of teams. But not enough for IC Tag titles. Now, come '88, that's a different story.

Yes. Anyway, check this out, it's fucking killer. -
On RAW tonight, while the PTP's were beating down Kofi AW said "Tonight, the Prime Time Players will be playing the part of the LAPD!" and after doing the afro pic deal with Young, he yells at Kofi "Can't pick no dreadlocks!" AW rules.
-
Show was a fucking blast. We all totally had a great time here.
-
Dylan....AW started yelling at Rosa that "This ain't Taco Bell, you can't cross the border!" when she started to go after him on his side of ringside. AW is fantastic.
-
Why would you ignore AW? He's fucking great. He's doing a modern day Jimmy Hart w/ the megaphone deal and it's fantastic.

Again, I think Dave was trying to make a veiled dig on McMahon there, while not taking into account the things you bring up, John. Of course it's dumb, but I'm not thinking it was a Dave "I'm in a bubble" dumb shit but more of a Dave "I can't be funny or ironic" sort of dumb shit.
-
To be fair, I'd hopefully guess that Dave was trying to be sarcastic while implying that Vince payed off kids and their families.
-
Yeah, I was about to say....

Valentine was supposed to be Roy Orbison, actually.

two pieces of shit You shut your filthy whorish mouth about Weird Al's masterpiece, yo! That is a tremendously fun movie. No Holds Barred WISHES it was half as entertaining as UHF. I'm a stoner and I think UHF stinks, and it was made for me. Granted, I also think Weird Al stinks. I LIKE the guy, and I think he's a great guy, and I think "artists" who don't want him to spoof them are the worst full of themselves talentless fucks...but he stinks. Sure, "Eat It" was funny when I was 13...but that's about it. And No Holds Barred sucks. I mean, if you have fond memories of it..that's cool..but it DOES suck. I love Ernest Goes To Camp..and that sucks. -
