  1. I still love the Hogan/ Schultz match from 6/17/84..the "Massacre in Minneapolis". And the Hogan/ Valentine match from the Philly Spectrum 08/04/1984 is fucking great. Both are on the first Hulkamania videotape that I must have watched a thousand times when I was 15. I like the Studd match from that tape a bunch as well. The Orndorff match from "The Big Event" is great but with a wonky finish.
  2. The gimmick was him being a disrespectful heel by calling himself "Nature Boy".
  3. I myself hated the Ultimate Warrior and everything about him, but that was when I was going through my "I'm 19 now and wrestling has gotten really stupid and I'm going to college/ following the Grateful Dead around the country" period. I still can't watch a Warrior match, I hated him so much. But I'd imagine that there's a ton of people who were kids during Warrior's run who thought he was fucking awesome and still have nostalgic feelings.
  4. I loved this whole show. I went in thinking it was gonna be a one match show, Punk/ Bryan, and I ended up having a fucking blast. Granted, I was watching with friends and family on a big screen TV as we grilled steaks and pork chops, drank and smoked, and made an evening of the PPV and the eclipse. The special eclipse glasses helped when looking at Sheamus. But what a fun show! I missed the opener cause Direct TV is incompetent. The Tag match was a blast, Vickie looked hot and was kicking ass as a manager. Layla / Beth was fine, nothing great but perfectly fine and Layla is hotter than Georgia asphalt so bravo. The four way was fucking great. It started out a little dull but picked up and ended up being a shitload of fun. Miz/ Clay was a perfectly fine and fun mid card act, and Miz dancing was great. My one and a half year old nephew loves Brodus so this was a win in this house. I liked Christian/ Cody a lot, and I hope they get more matches with more time. Christian's face turn here makes total sense and should make Dylan happy, right? Punk/ Bryan was god damned fucking awesome. Every little detail was perfect. My favorite part was Lawler marking out and shouting that looks don't matter, it's talent. At the end of this match the whole house here was going nuts and only two of us are fans. Ryback faced a son of Haku in a harbinger of things to come. Cena/ Johnny was a great time. Fun as fuck. We all called the Show turn, but it was done incredibly well.
  5. I totally forgot about Rico, but he wore all kinds of stuff. See, the fact that his banana hammock is pink here really isn't the "gayest" thing going on.
  6. Who at one time wore purple tights!

  8. The Hart Foundation wore pink. Goldust wore gold. Billy and Chuck wore red. The last "gay" guy who wore pink was Adrian Adonis, right? And that was 26 years ago. I'll give you the fact that Sandow is borrowing a TON from Lanny Poffo, but I don't see any "gay" implications just because he wears pink tights.
  9. Why would you assume that purple and pink means gay in this day and age?
  10. I just watched Bryan/ Sheamus again, and man...what a great fucking match.
  11. Yeah, a lot of folks are going on about how good Show was as far as his acting went, and that's true. But it went too long and made Show look like a pussy, like Vic said. Granted, it'll all be erased when Show interferes at the PPV and helps Johnny win. And fuck a Todd Martin. I didn't much care for the Cena promo but the crowd loved it. To get all "well, the crowd is wrong" just might be the stupidest thing that self important choad has ever written.
  12. I remember a great quote from Arn Anderson when someone told him about CW. He said something along the lines of "Well, I hope he does better with it than I did."
  13. It's totally fair to say that Russo in WWF tried to give everyone something to do/ a personality. If the stuff was good or not is a different story.

  18. Nah, Janette was a fan when she was little. She has fond memories of Hogan Piper, warrior, etc. She's grown to like it again and will watch with me during some shows and most PPV's. She loves the atheticism and figuring out storylines and where they may be going. As a relatively new mom she always loves it when a wrestler pays attention to the little kids during entrances..she adores Rey. However, THAT match just had her getting squemish. She actually said, " This isn't right...Lesnar's using all that real stuff from ufc." as if she was watching a shoot mugging. And she's not an idiot, she just was aware she was watching alot of really stiff and hard to watch stuff. As the match ventured into more Pro Wrestling type stuff she calmed down, lol.
  19. Watched it with my roomies, who aren't fans but have come to appreciate it over the years. My one roomie, Janette, was horrified during Cena/ Lesnar. She kept gasping and turning away from the "real" violence..ie: the stiff shots and utter beatdown of Cena. My other three pals were more like, "Shit..we know this is fake, but these guys are beating the fuck out of each other. This is awesome." However, Janette almost left the room." it was a fun night.
  20. just moved into a new house and the first event we've held was tonight's show. We all sat here among the packed and unpacked stuff and watched a God damned amazingly fun PPV. This was the best pre housewarming party ever.
  21. Bryan and I have a serious discussion about the Daniel Bryan/ AJ angle
  22. How do you accomplish this in the WWE, though? It's not like they ever mention the winner of a match getting more money than the loser. And there's no rhyme or reason to who gets title shots. Chris Jericho loses clean at Wrestlemania, but he gets a rematch because he hit CM Punk in the head with a whiskey bottle? So stupid. Actually, after Young and Titus beat the Usos on SD last week Booker said "It may have been ugly but they won and go to the pay window" or something like that. I was like, "YES!" not just for the Dusty reference but for someone finally mentioning that again. Also, as far as Jericho getting a rematch because of what you mentioned, that's basic Pro Wrestling. Bad guy loses the match and then later attacks the good guy with a weapon or some such thing and the good guy is so pissed he gives the bad guy another shot so he, the good guy, can get his hands on him.
  23. Not a MOTYC, but a damn fun match.
  24. http://www.tnt-radio.net/archive/238-blew-grass/ Last week's show, "Blew Grass" with most of the awful, the last half hour, edited out!
  25. Wasn't that Tazz who tore the poster down and said, "Wrong company!" ?
