  1. Yeah, that'd be around the time the good guys "broke Ole's leg/ ankle" as revenge.
  2. I distinctly remember something about Survivor not wanting their song used, or the record company noticing and starting to ask for royalties. I remember me and my friends laughing about how if they had cut a deal they'd be millionaires instead of one hit wonders.
  3. Snuka would have flamed out, but I'm sure he crossed Vince's mind as Snuka was insanely popular in 83-84. I remember me and my pals at the time being FAR more into Snuka than Hogan. And this thread rules if just for the fact that it debunks the whole "GI Joe" thing everyone always brings up re: Slaughter in 84. And didn't Survivor threaten to sue Vince if he didn't stop using "Eye Of The Tiger" for Hogan?
  4. Hell yeah, that's some killer shit right there.
  5. Hulk Hogan was a hero to tons of kids. That's like, the best compliment ever.
  6. I totally dug the Taker video. I love the visual of Taker sitting in a lair obsessing on HHH as he healed all year long, looking at newspaper clippings like a maniac, as he knows he's done, and has the streak. But he's driven insane by the fact that he got carried out last year. Now, for all of this to work out for me is for Taker to win at Mania, despite interference, walk out on his own power, and retire.

  8. He's a great guy and more power to him.
  9. As far as this clone stuff goes,It's TRUE! I know that when I look at Shaemus, Wade Barrett, Danial Bryan, and Brodus Clay, it's like I'm seeing quadruple!!

  11. Well with Zach, it's part of his gimmick. I don't like it when Del Rio wears his T Shirt, though. It'd make more sense if he made Ricardo hold it up or wear it over his tux.
  12. The Miz thing was him eating something in the locker room and getting it on someone's bag, so he got tossed to the hallway. And of course, all that locker room shit is stupid. I just can't help but roll my eyes at people getting on their soapboxes and crying about "bullies" when these are grown adults who know exactly what kind of business they're getting into. When you're a grown-up, you just might have to deal with assholes at work who you can't tell off because they're higher up the ladder. That makes them assholes, not "bullies". Bullies try to take your lunch money, or call you names, or try to scare you... and you pop them in the jaw after school. Assholes at work? You handle it in a variety of ways. In wrestling, you do what Styles did and fight back, or you do what Sting did and let Slater flush your head. (Granted, ya don't bang another guys chick.). Sometimes, you eat shit. And again, like Vic said, I didn't see anything in that Smith squash worse than what Denny Brown or the Mulkeys took on a weekly basis.
  13. Considering that most people think UFC/ MMA is about as sophisticated as drinking donkey jizz anyway, I seriously doubt anyone will even care.
  14. He was just a great foil for the Boogie Woogie Man. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKJeC4jhkZU...player_embedded Holy shit, I found it. The first time I ever saw NWA wrestling was an episode of Worldwide on UHF 17 one Saturday afternoon. I had an epiphany that day and decided to flip around channels to see if there was more wrestling than just WWF on WOR or Philly 29. Earlier I found Pro Wrestling USA on WPIX 11. I turned on I7 to see an interview with Jimmy Valiant about how he was back and wanted Paul Jones and his Army. Then THIS happened and I was totally sold. It was so much better than the WWF I'd been watching for years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Isd-cJhx7-4
  15. Really?
  16. Me neither. Unless it's "how dare he put down the Harts" bullshit.
  17. Do grown men really get "bullied"? And what exactly is an "office stooge" anyway? And what exactly did JBL ever do to be called that? Did he, like, run to Vince to tell on people who were doing naughty things?
  18. Paul Jones was a great manager because he only managed mid card guys. All to feud with Jimmy Valiant. Jones' Army existed only to fuck with Valiant, or to occasionally feud with a member who left the Army, ala Superstar Billy Graham. He then managed the greatest tag team of all time, Rude and Fernandez, but by then he was just a guy in a fabulous suit, and not the focus.
  19. Bobby Heenan Jimmy Hart Jim Cornette Paul E Gary Hart Captain Lou Albano The Grand Wizard JJ Dillon Skandar Akbar Paul Jones
  20. Not the point. He could have left, was made an offer, and stayed with Vince. Loyalty matters.
  21. And don't get me wrong, Lanny Poffo was a fine wrestler. My point is that anyone could get hired by WCW for awhile there especially if they had ever worked for the WWF.
  22. Yeah, I remember really looking forward to SD each week back then and a big reason was JBL's commentary. He and Cole were a great team. I also seem to recall Meltzer hating JBL's commentary because of all the obscure references he'd make ala comparing Londrick to Shaun and Steve Simpson. And that's the kind of stuff I personally love. Oh, and as far as if WCW would have wanted Bradshaw, this was the company that hired Jim Powers and Lanny Poffo.
  23. I'm sorry, but that has me laughing my ass off.
  24. I don't know anyone here who says wanker. Except for annoying dudes who are trying to use Brit terms to seem "different."
  25. That's the truth. I know foul mouthed strippers who get offended by the "c word".
