Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
stunning_grover replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I watched the first episode of Something Else To Wrestle on the WWE Network. I really enjoyed it. If you really like Something To Wrestle With, you'll really like Something Else To Wrestle. I'm happy it was very similar to their regular podcast. It was cool they had some video footage of stuff Bruce and Conrad were talking about. I look forward to the next episode. -
Oh, it's over. Yeah, not nearly as good as their 1/4/2016 match. Still, a pretty good match. Just not as good as hoped, I guess.
-
It's been a pretty good match so far. Just imagine watching this match on a random day. WrestleMania has been going on for over six hours so far now (if you're counting the pre-show too). However, I don't think this is on the level of their 1/4/2016 match.
-
I've been watching since the pre-show started. Time for some comments... Charlotte vs. Asuka was really good. I can't believe Asuka tapped out! Ronda Rousey was great in her debut! That match was so much fun! Steph was great in her role as evil heel. Very good performance by Alexa Bliss. She's underrated. It's a shame she lost the title. Did anyone else see AJ Styles being incorrectly billed as "Universal Champion" when his name appeared on the screen?

I hope some of the experts on current joshi puroresu will be able to answer these questions... Does anyone know when the Dream Slam shows will be available on Stardom World? Will it be streamed live? I'm currently not subscribed to Stardom World (although I'm considering subscribing at some point), but I'm just curious. Also, is Pro Wrestling Wave streaming Catch the Wave tournament matches soon after they happen (or live?)? That's another one I'm considering subscribing too. Please let me know about this (and/or any other info about joshi puroresu subscription-based streaming services). I'm currently subscribed to New Japan World and WWE Network, but I feel that I should subscribe to at least one joshi puroresu streaming service. Any recommendations? Or any other good ways to keep up-to-date with current joshi puroresu? I want to start watching current joshi puroresu on a more regular basis again. I've been a bit out of the loop.

Okada vs. Naito was great.
-
Jericho vs. Omega was tremendous!
-
Tanahashi vs. Jay White had some decent moments, but also some awkward moments. Jay White was on the top rope, but then went back down after deciding not to hit a move off the top rope. It made a lot of people in the crowd laugh. Jericho vs. Omega is next!
-
The junior heavyweight four-way was not really my thing. Lots of high flying moves from Will Ospreay.
-
Yeah, definitely a very good show so far. The hair vs. hair match between Minoru Suzuki and Hirooki Goto was very good. Suzuki dominated most of the match. Goto started bleeding from the mouth after a series of stiff blows by Suzuki.
-
The IWGP Tag Team Title match was very good tag team match. The Killer Elite Squad really did a good job of beating people up. They even beat up the young New Japan wrestlers that were at ringside. Evil & Sanada showed a lot of fighting spirit.
-
The gauntlet match was okay. There was one pretty cool spot where Tama Tonga hit Beretta with a jumping Ace crusher in mid-air when Beretta went for a moonsault. Cody (w/ Brandi Rhodes) vs. Kota Ibushi was good. Brandi did a good job as heel manager. There was a spot where Brandi fooled everyone into believing she was hurt and it only turned out to be an act, which resulted in Cody and Brandi laughing like evil heels.
-
Young Bucks vs. Sho & Yoh was excellent. Don Callis was great on commentary, as usual. The Young Bucks worked over Yoh’s back. Matt Jackson hurt his own back when he landed on his back outside the ring. Yoh and Matt Jackson sold their backs being hurt really well (or they were really hurt?). Yoh finally made the hot tag to Sho, which led to several minutes of back-and-forth action. When Matt and Yoh were in the ring together, they worked over each other’s hurt backs again. The match lasted 18 minutes.
-
Watching live on New Japan World. The New Japan Rumble was a pretty average match featuring the following participants: Katsuya Kitamura, BUSHI, Delirious, Leo Tonga, Manabu Nakanishi, Chase Owens, Yuji Nagata, TAKA Michinoku, Yoshinobu Kanemura, El Desperado, Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask IV, Gino Gambino, Henare, Yoshi-Hashi, David Finlay Jr, Yujiro Takahashi, Cheeseburger, Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Masahito Kakihara.

I just wanted to mention that I can't find the thread for the 6/30/90 Owen Hart vs. Keiji Muto match from disc 15. Maybe there was never one created for that match?

Here's the list I submitted (including comments I wrote before the results were posted)... 1. Akira Taue & Toshiaki Kawada… THE greatest tag team ever. 2. Giant Baba & Jumbo Tsuruta… Probably the best team of the 1970s. 3. Dan Kroffat & Doug Furnas… Probably the best gaijin tag team of All Japan. 4. Kenta Kobashi & Mtsuharu Misawa… Arguably the best babyface tag team of the 1990s. 5. Fantastics… Very underrated tag team. I hope they will end up high on the end list, because they are one of the best tag teams ever. 6. Ted DiBiase & Steve Williams… DiBiase & Williams were probably the best tag team in Mid-South wrestling. They had lots of exciting matches against a wide variety of opponents. Their style was very physical and intense. They were great as a heel team and as a babyface team. 7. Dory Jr. & Terry Funk… Their classics from Japan are still some of my favourite matches to watch nowadays. 8. Akira Taue & Jumbo Tsuruta… Definitely one of the top 10 All Japan teams ever. 9. Rockers… I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rockers end up on almost everyone’s list. They did great things in the AWA and they were arguably the best WWF tag team ever. Both Marty Jannetty and Shawn Michaels were great workers during their time as a tag team. 10. The Midnight Express (Dennis Condrey & Bobby Eaton)… Arguably the greatest heel tag team ever. 11. Footloose… Fuyuki was at his peak while being part of Footloose. Kawada was showing the world he was about to become one of the best. 12. The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane)… Almost as great as the Condrey & Eaton version of the Midnight Express. 13. Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard… They were a top tag team in JCP and WWF. 14. Genichiro Tenryu & Jumbo Tsuruta… One of the best Japanese tag teams of the mid-1980s. 15. Double Inoue… One of the best joshi puroresu teams that teamed for a decent amount of time. 16. Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda… Their brawling style matches were memorable and are still worth watching after all those years. 17. Jumping Bomb Angels… This joshi puroresu tag team was surprisingly over and successful in the WWF. 18. Hart Foundation… One of my favourite tag teams when I started watching. I still think their performances were of high quality. Even though they won’t rank as highly as most of the top All Japan teams, they still deserve to be on the list. 19. Sheepherders… Great brawlers. People who only know about their Bushwhackers run are usually surprised to learn about their bloody brawls from before they entered the WWF. 20. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express… Even though Ricky Morton did most of the work, this team has been one of the most memorable tag teams of all time. 21. Crush Gals… They were extremely over and they worked several memorable matches during the 1980s. 22. Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada… Even though they were technically not a really great tag team, they ended up having exciting matches that were memorable. Several of their matches are still considered classics. 23. Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi… They participated in some classics, but they didn’t team for all that long. 24. Hayabusa & Jinsei Shinzaki… I am a mark for them. Perhaps somewhat of a guilty pleasure, but I think they were an intriguing tag team combination that always seemed to overachieve. They often had better showings as a tag team than what was expected from them. 25. British Bulldogs… They used to be one of my favourite tag teams. They are obviously a legendary tag team. But, their stock has dropped a lot over the years. It will be interesting to see how people rank them in 2016. I admit that I’m giving them the #25 spot mostly because of nostalgia.

5. Daniel Bryan Didn't vote for him. 4. Mitsuharu Misawa He was my #1. 3. Stan Hansen He was my #2. I hope Terry Funk will be #1. I have him at #4 on my list. I have Ric Flair at #29.

10. Jerry Lawler He was my #6. One of the three greatest American pro wrestlers ever, in my opinion. 9. Toshiaki Kawada He was my #3. The second greatest Japanese pro wrestler ever, in my opinion. 8. Kenta Kobashi I have him at #19. 7. Rey Misterio Jr. I have him at #86. I probably would have had him higher if I had seen more of his WWE work. 6. Jushin Thunder Liger I have him at #17.

Great year for wrestling and death metal. Some people also really like At the Gates' album With Fear I Kiss the Burning Darkness. But, my favourite death metal album from 1993 is probably Heartwork (closely followed by Covenant and Individual Thought Patterns). 19. Arn Anderson I have him at #35. I can understand he ended up this high with 144 votes. He's always been a favourite of the hardcore fans. I really like his tag team work. 18. Randy Savage I have him at #22. I will totally listen to an argument for placing him in the top 3, because he was definitely great. Easy top 25 pick for sure. 17. Bret Hart I have him at #21. He would have been even higher if this was a favourite wrestlers list. Interesting to see that Randy Savage (my #22) and Bret Hart (my #21) follow each other on the final results list too (#18 and #17 respectively). 16. Nick Bockwinkel I have him at #40. He was THE man in the AWA. Even more so than Curt Hennig. Does that mean Bockwinkel was beyond perfection? I guess he was. Although, I guess "Narcissist" Lex Luger would claim he's the only man beyond perfection. (just kidding, of course... if you're familiar with 1993 WWF angles, you will probably get my reference... I must think I'm living in 1993 with all my 1993 references... by the way, speaking of Lex Luger, I didn't have him in my top 100, because I have him somewhere around #125 in my top 150) 15. Ricky Steamboat I have him at #81. His 1989 feud with Ric Flair was amazing. Great seller. Great babyface. 14. Vader I have him at #61. The Man They Call Vader received 148 votes. I wonder who the other two guys are with 148 votes. We'll find out soon, I guess. 13. Genichiro Tenryu I have him at #7. Great longevity. 12. Eddy Guerrero I have him at #58. Even though he's not my #1 anymore, I still really like his work (especially 1994-1997). 11. Jumbo Tsuruta I forgot to vote for him. I noticed that some people were happy he didn't end up in the top 10... so I guess I didn't really need to vote for him anyway. But, all joking aside, he should have been in my top 25. Three days to go... 91 wrestlers who are in my top 100 have appeared in the final results so far... 9 wrestlers of my top 100 haven't appeared in the final results yet... that means 1 of the 10 wrestlers still to come is not on my list (Daniel Bryan) My list [overall ranking in brackets] ... ... ... ... #5 Negro Casas [#22] ... #7 Genichiro Tenryu [#13] #8 Masa Fuchi [#111] (high vote: #8) #9 Sangre Chicana [#95] (high vote: #9) #10 Bull Nakano [#61] #11 Dick Murdoch [#53] #12 Dick Togo [#71] (high vote: #12) #13 Satanico [#37] #14 Chigusa Nagayo [#110] #15 Fuerza Guerrera [#155] (high vote: #15) #16 Giant Baba [#63] ... #18 Manami Toyota [#89] ... #20 Akira Taue [#26] #21 Bret Hart [#17] #22 Randy Savage [#18] #23 Buddy Rose [#36] #24 Dynamite Kid [#78] #25 Harley Race [#45] #26 Rick Martel [#43] #27 L.A. Park [#96] #28 Mr. Gannosuke [#277] (high vote: #28) ... #30 Akira Hokuto [#52] #31 Mayumi Ozaki [#133] #32 Greg Valentine [#54] #33 El Dandy [#35] #34 Barry Windham [#25] #35 Arn Anderson [#19] #36 Jaguar Yokota [#114] #37 Aja Kong [#49] #38 Yoshiaki Fujiwara [#40] #39 Owen Hart [#58] #40 Nick Bockwinkel [#16] #41 La Fiera [#164] #42 El Hijo del Santo [#29] #43 Ted DiBiase [#42] #44 Tatsumi Fujinami [#20] #45 Bobby Eaton [#28] #46 Shinya Hashimoto [#23] #47 Jun Akiyama [#27] #48 El Samurai [#212] (high vote: #48) #49 Kyoko Inoue [#217] #50 Curt Hennig [#55] #51 Sgt. Slaughter [#64] #52 Ricky Morton [#33] #53 Tsuyoshi Kikuchi [#148] #54 Atlantis [#74] #55 Great Sasuke [#116] #56 Chris Benoit [#34] #57 Yumi Ikeshita [#384] #58 Eddy Guerrero [#12] #59 Brian Pillman [#72] #60 TAKA Michinoku [#180] #61 Vader [#14] #62 Shinobu Kandori [#146] #63 Shinjiro Ohtani [#65] #64 Steve Williams [#82] #65 Dynamite Kansai [#125] #66 Dan Kroffat [#254] #67 Tully Blanchard [#44] #68 Steve Austin [#24] #69 Perro Aguayo [#140] #70 Tito Santana [#80] #71 Bison Kimura [#420] #72 Devil Masami [#135] #73 Cuty Suzuki [#385] #74 Kerry Von Erich [#98] #75 Dennis Condrey [#199] #76 Pirata Morgan [#117] #77 Super Astro [#283] #78 Leo Burke [#296] #79 Jinsei Shinzaki [#400] #80 Hulk Hogan [#75] #81 Ricky Steamboat [#15] #82 Masato Tanaka [#175] #83 Javier Cruz [#502] (high vote/only vote: #83) #84 Mick Foley [#38] #85 Psicosis [#183] ... #87 Shawn Michaels [#31] #88 Marty Jannetty [#272] #89 Espectrito [#370] #90 Masa Saito [#160] #91 Sabu [#149] #92 Scott Steiner [#162] #93 Jacques Rougeau [#339] #94 Andre the Giant [#51] #95 Atsushi Onita [#89] #96 Carlos Colon [#103] #97 Roddy Piper [#83] #98 Stan Lane [#260] #99 Big Boss Man [#171] #100 Ron Starr [#403]

I would probably rank Demilich somewhere in my top 150, maybe even in my top 100. The Beatles would possibly be somewhere in my top 500. Nespithe is a fun album. I would rank it possibly in my top 100 metal albums of the 1990s and maybe even in my top 10 metal albums of 1993. I'm not sure if I would rank it as the top technical death metal album of 1993 though, because Gorguts released the Erosion of Sanity that year. But, anyway... I agree with your point about everyone having their own top 100. 25. Barry Windham I have him at #34. 24. Steve Austin I have him at #68. He would be higher if this was a favourite wrestlers list. 23. Shinya Hashimoto I have him at #46. The greatest New Japan heavyweight, but I'm more of an All Japan guy when it comes to the heavyweights. 22. Negro Casas I have him at #5. Greatest Mexican wrestler ever. 21. William Regal He's somewhere in my top 150. 20. Tatsumi Fujinami I have him at #44. One of the best wrestlers in the world during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Some of the other years of his career are interesting too. Four days to go... 83 wrestlers who are in my top 100 have appeared in the final results so far... 17 wrestlers of my top 100 haven't appeared in the final results yet... (that means 2 of the 19 wrestlers still to come are not on my list) My list [overall ranking in brackets] ... ... ... ... #5 Negro Casas [#22] ... ... #8 Masa Fuchi [#111] (high vote: #8) #9 Sangre Chicana [#95] (high vote: #9) #10 Bull Nakano [#61] #11 Dick Murdoch [#53] #12 Dick Togo [#71] (high vote: #12) #13 Satanico [#37] #14 Chigusa Nagayo [#110] #15 Fuerza Guerrera [#155] (high vote: #15) #16 Giant Baba [#63] ... #18 Manami Toyota [#89] ... #20 Akira Taue [#26] ... ... #23 Buddy Rose [#36] #24 Dynamite Kid [#78] #25 Harley Race [#45] #26 Rick Martel [#43] #27 L.A. Slaughter [#64] #52 Ricky Morton [#33] #53 Tsuyoshi Kikuchi [#148] #54 Atlantis [#74] #55 Great Sasuke [#116] #56 Chris Benoit [#34] #57 Yumi Ikeshita [#384] ... #59 Brian Pillman [#72] #60 TAKA Michinoku [#180] ... #62 Shinobu Kandori [#146] #63 Shinjiro Ohtani [#65] #64 Steve Williams [#82] #65 Dynamite Kansai [#125] #66 Dan Kroffat [#254] #67 Tully Blanchard [#44] #68 Steve Austin [#24] #69 Perro Aguayo [#140] #70 Tito Santana [#80] #71 Bison Kimura [#420] #72 Devil Masami [#135] #73 Cuty Suzuki [#385] #74 Kerry Von Erich [#98] #75 Dennis Condrey [#199] #76 Pirata Morgan [#117] #77 Super Astro [#283] #78 Leo Burke [#296] #79 Jinsei Shinzaki [#400] #80 Hulk Hogan [#75] ... #82 Masato Tanaka [#175] #83 Javier Cruz [#502] (high vote/only vote: #83) #84 Mick Foley [#38] #85 Psicosis [#183] ... #87 Shawn Michaels [#31] #88 Marty Jannetty [#272] #89 Espectrito [#370] #90 Masa Saito [#160] #91 Sabu [#149] #92 Scott Steiner [#162] #93 Jacques Rougeau [#339] #94 Andre the Giant [#51] #95 Atsushi Onita [#89] #96 Carlos Colon [#103] #97 Roddy Piper [#83] #98 Stan Lane [#260] #99 Big Boss Man [#171] #100 Ron Starr [#403]
