I take Yujiro over Fale in the G1 any day because you know Yujiro ain't gonna win shit so there won't be some really stupid "upset" win by Fale like every other year (expect the year where he got DQ'd all the time in fuck finishes, which was equally annoying but at least he didn't end up with a big score). Block A is awesome on paper, although Cobb has been exposed last year as being not nearly as good as his hype (to me he was never better than as Matanza Cueto). Block B is much weaker (EVIL has turned into a change the channel guy to me since joining the Bullet Club, SANADA will never reach his potential, Goto is kinda boring). I wonder how good Tanahashi will do, he looked totally shot in his last appearances. Great worker still, but physically shot...

John Silver checking Wardlow's ass and dropping a classic Kelis reference is the highlight of my wrestling week already. The of course Brodie has to do the Vince Twitch bit. Dark Order on BTE are downright funny as fuck.

Well, Ryback always struck me as completely dumb, not to mention absolutely talentless, a poor man's Goldy 15 years after the fact who never did jackshit in the business apart from getting a push by WWE because he was good at shooting steroid syringes up his ass. So there... See, it's easy behind a screen. I doubt Ryback would tell the same thing if he met Meltz face to face (well, most people on Twitter would not say 1% of the shit they say on Twitter IRL in front of real people anyway).

What a piece of shit. I would sue the motherfucker for this. It's calling for murder. Really, who the fuck are these people ? EDIT : he did a delete and re-phrase, but, too late, people are already re-posting the initial tweet.

He insisted on the doctor clearing Matt because that's the only reason why the match kept on going. He said he did not know what happened out there, he said he was uncomfortable watching it and that they should have went the way of being careful and stop the match, he said Matt wasn't the first one responsible because the workers/fighters always want to go on but that's not up to them to know and he said Tony Khan was not gonna go against what his own doctor said, so the responsibility is doctor N°1 and Khan N°2. When Alvarez mentioned that whether it be in WWE, NJPW, AEW or else, if anyone loses consciousness even 5 second you should just stop the match period, he said he agreed 100%. But people just want to get angry at Meltz.

Agreed. This is one thing that comes with the territory after 20 years of WWE monopoly, some stuff they do are so ingrained in people's mind that it seems there's no other way, but I've hated this shit since day one when I saw Shane O-Mac do it in like 1999. Looks stupid. It didn't bother me in the Stadium Stampede match because it was such a ridiculous jump plus it was an offensive move, but I don't need to see people climb up stuff and take a dive on a crash pad and pretend they are dead. My feelings exactly. Maybe he'll win me over, but at this point, he's got the old TNA syndrome. Not what I want from AEW at all. Give me guys like Sydal instead, indeed.

Well, apparently Marcillac wanted pro-wrestling to go under the umbrella or "entertainment" and not "sport" on TV. Also, apparently L'ange blanc was like Doink, he could work in several different towns on the same night (and Le bourreau de Béthune also). Gotta love the "Bring back pro-wrestling as a sport, without the bullshit and the circus" under the third picture... Damn, these people were killing the business back then, it was not like it used to be... I remember Carpentier saying Claude Darget had a bit of an ironic sense of humour while he was announcing.

Wow, that's pretty cool. It hit me right away, as an old FMW fan.

(written pretty much as I'm watching) I actually thought Private Party vs #3 & #4 was a pretty good match for the Buy Out. But yeah, the idea of a pre-show is kinda dated and needless. Speaking of needless, JR is now firmly is the "detracting from the product" category. Really, I'm sorry to say, but he did not bring *anything* to the table tonight, quite the opposite (nowhere near a Mauro who makes a show unwatchable by his lone self, but still, Excalibur & Schiavone by themselves would have been much better). JR during Rosa vs Shida "Back in the days when I was a referee, women's match were more formulaic". Grandpa is telling those old story again... (I did not heard the stuff about Anna Jay's outfit, nor did I paid attention to it BTW, so I missed that one). He's almost drunken Gordon Solie level... Well, Swole vs Baker was a whole lot of nothing. Highlight was Reba screaming "You stabbed her !" after the syringe spot. Bad ending, wrong person won. Can anyone remind me the appeal of Big Swole, because it is still eluding me. She isn't a good worker and hasn't even displayed any charisma in this where the context was hiding her work, and this feud really has diluted what was fun when baker turned heel at first. Apparently this match was added to the main show because the usual Twitter fake-outrage crowd whined it was "disrespectful to the women" to have it on the pre-show. Expect it was a total pre-show nothing match, really, and started the show on a major flat note, even the announcers sounded uninterested tbh. Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express is exactly the hot opener that was needed for the actual PPV. Love to see more heelish YB, they are at their best as dick heels. Matt kicking out the crutch was a great touch. Insane sequences between Nick & Jungle Boy. Apart from one spot at the beginning, Luchasaurus looked the best he ever did to me. Really the kind of match that builds and builds and actually gets better as it goes, by the end I could call it excellent/great without a doubt. Kylinn King in the crowd. <3 Sydal with the Shockmaster debut ! Well, I'm still glad he's there, good catch for AEW and it's always nice to get that surprise entrant. I'm guessing they are gonna pile on this during the next BTE, as they should. Battle Royal was what it was, they eliminated Fenix way too quickly, nice to see Sonny Kiss get a feature elimination (of course he had to get thrown out just afterward, which is straight out of WWE). Of all the guys off Dark, I would have not chosen Will Hobbs, but I guess he got the spot because he's *big*. Ok, Darby is a lunatic, the old "thumbtacks in a body bag spot. Ending was kinda convoluted, I don't think we need some snake spots in 2020. Nice to see Kingston go until the end though. I had Archer winning, so there. Totally gives away the result of the AEW title match though, that's really a thing to pounder for the future... Holy fuck, Matt paying tribute to the Great Sasuke was brutal and scary as hell... You know what, I'm beginning to think Sammy Guevera's career is kinda snakebit, as I'm sure some will accuse him of diving with too much momentum on Matt, hence him falling too far... So, Matt is a mix of Mick Foley and Kurt Angle now in term of not giving a fuck and working concussed. Yeah, not the best judgment from Tony Khan here to listen to Hardy and let him "work" (he really didn't do much honestly) after that point (I'm sure it's gonna be weaponized by the anti-AEW crowd too). Hopefully Hardy is gonna be OK and now we have a legit reason for him showing up in a completely insane character again (and not take bumps anymore, honesty yeah they could have called an audible here)... Shida vs Rosa is precisely what their women's division should be. Terrific match and performance from both, although I have to say Thunder Rosa worked like she knew (and she probably did) that it was the match of her life, and she came of like a total star, with tons of presence and charisma to add to her excellent in-ring work. They have to sign her eventually, she can't stay in the NWA forever, that would be a waste. They really have built Shida into their best champ since Riho, in a much different (and better, to my tastes) way. People call Kip Sabian a dork, a geek and whatnot... yeah, he's actually getting married to Penelope Ford, so there. I dig the old Stevie Richards look. I for one look forward to the live wedding, because you know it's gonna be ruined, and there's nothing like a ruined wedding. Gotta love the "This message was approved by AEW" when Kip is pimping is Twitch channel too. 8 men tag was excellent. I've been loving the dynamic with Cabana, which paid off today. QT is ridiculously underrated. Dark Order are all fantastic workers. Cardona... is just there. Yeah, he looked good, but thus far, everything about him screams WWE-lifer in term of his presentation (funny or not, his best friend Brian Myers on IMPACT is kinda feeling the same to me). Out of all the people included here, with Allie, Brandi & even Anna Jay at ringside, he was easily the least interesting character, because he got none apart from being IRL friend with Cody. Well worked and booked match, gotta love Dustin winning on PPV in 2020. Very good promo afterward too. Either Brodie eats him alive, either he actually wins and we have a problem (don't think so as they know they can't do better than their classic match last year). Ok, FTR vs Omega/Page. THE match of the night to me. And it was. Masterclass, really. And the amazing thing is that basically, the whole match built to 1 spot. 1 only spot. I loved how they teased Page hitting his lariat on Omega only to have it go the other way, which is much better because the guy who makes the mistake is the guy holding the opponent. FTR looked terrific as usual, but really, to me Omega outshined everyone with his performance. And the post-match was perfect too, as it keeps on delivering slow-build. This storyline is exactly what I wanted from AEW when I think about what Omega did in Japan (the stuff with Ibushi, Bullet Club and such). So yeah, maybe there was something a wee bit "anticlimatic" at the end because this match was less about FTR than about Omega & Page, but now every piece is set for the Bucks vs FTR and Omega vs Page eventually. Great match, great booking, great long-term storytelling. Oh fuck me they are working that Mimosa (whatever it is) like Onita would exploding barb-wire, that's awesome ! Jericho works much crisper than the last match, I guess he wanted to redeem himself. Fun bullshit and a lot more actual good work than I expected. FInish was a given, I'm sure Jericho was glad to take that nestea plunge into the water considering the heat. Really good match, much less gimmicky than I thought it would. Jericho put Orange over twice, that's quite impressive. Mox vs MJF took a little bit of time to get going, as to me MJF on control can be a little dry at first, but after the blade-job it found its pace and actually became really good. I never felt MJF could win, but really it's all a learning experience for him at this point. The finish was cute and it was fitting with the entire angle and MJF always cheating to win anyway. MJF and Wardlow outsmarted themselves. Like I said, Archer winning the Battle Royal before totally gave out the result. But hey, I look forward to Archer & Mox beating the shit out of each other like they're somewhere in Japan. So apparently there's plenty negativity about this show ? What else is new... Yeah, the Britt vs Swole stuff was bad, but it lasted about ten minutes and it wasn't supposed to be part of the PPV to begin with. The Battle Royal was quite ok. If you put the Matt Hardy accident aside, everything else ranged from very good (Jericho/Orange, MJF vs MOX) to excellent (Young Bucks vs Jurassic Express, Rosa vs Shida, 8 men tag) to great (FTR vs Omega/Page). Not as good as the previous one, but what could, but to call that less than a very good show seems ridiculous to me. The one big criticism I could make (apart from how they handled Matt Hardy) is that the show kinda stalled after the big tag-team match, because the last two matches could not follow it, but they both had the feel good endings so it was understandable. Also, Reby Hardy doing herself no favors on Twitter is nothing new...

"Sport ou spectacle ?" Télé-Magazine, exposing the business in 1962. Someone call Cornette !

Ah ah ah. So typical from the ORTF days ! Back then the sole TV channel in the country, the ORTF, was basically controlled by the government. Yeah, that was a shortcoming of De Gaulle, who, as the military officer he was, wanted to control everything in the country.
-
FWIW, it means "kid".
-
Yeah, MJF is only 24. He's still learning. So are Tony Khan, Cody, the Bucks & Omega as far as booking goes.
-
Agreed. Too gimmicky. Too much of a cheap 80's trick, not to mention he did it already the first time he was out with the fake injury.

Interestingly enough, when I was listening to some recent personality profile episodes that ended up quite decent, it struck me how by reading between the lines, you could get the picture about how Brucie is totally out of touch and why he doesn't get it. He makes some good points of course when talking about talents from the past (like how Diesel's edge was ruined by being turned into a baby-kissing babyface or how Val Venis gimmick set a glass ceiling from the start), but you can really grasp the fact this guy should never be near a booking sheet in 2020, like it has been demonstrated in real time. To me Bruce is a guy who beneficiated immensely at first of a wave of nostalgia and the fact his show supposedly got you "inside the mind of Vince", added to the fact of the anti-Meltz crowd finding a hero who "exposed" Uncle Dave. Except with time passing it was obvious that the only one guy getting exposed was Brucie himself. It's a fascinating story in itself that this podcast is basically what got him his "dream job" back eventually, but the perception of him being a Vince stooge and yes-man basically got back to the start after a short period where he built an audience who was buying his shit and bullshit anti-Meltz stant (which Bischoff reprised on his own show because it worked for his friend). Who to this day still buy his "Jerry Jarrett was useless" rant, which was a funny gimmick at the beginning of the show, years ago (seems like another lifetime) ?

The same. And although I did love some of the segments and promos, I must say that as a "feud", the whole Mox vs MJF thing has kinda felt thrown together at the last moment and is not very compelling, honestly. The "issue" I have with MJF is that he's almost *too* old-school. Some people have mentionned how they didn't buy his heel act and although it's not the case for me, there's still something to that... in that I don't really buy MJF as this rich kid character. It's almost like his gimmick is not "Despicable rich kid" but rather "Old-school heel wrestler with a despicable rich kid gimmick", but since he's playing it straight, well, at some point there's almost a disconnect. To me it would be better if it was more meta actually. The whole presidential gimmick stuff worked on its own because the promos were great as exemples of great old-school style stuff, but really when you think about the whole MJF/Mox angle, it really did not click on a broader level. Whereas Jericho vs Orange has been awesome from start to finish. I dunno, but clearly Mox vs MJF, although is very interesting and amazing to have MJF already main-eventing a PPV and feeling it's not a miscast, still doesn't interests me nearly as much as a feud as Jericho vs Orange, Omega/Page vs FTS or even Dark Order vs Cody's family (not to mention Darby vs Team Taz).

Who can work somewhere else. And really, a low-carder in WWE doesn't seem to make *that* much money anyway. With AEW around and other company having been rather agressive as far as getting talent (*IMPACT* signed quit a bit of people during the pandemic), it's not like being fired from that pit that is WWE is the end of the world (that's what WWE want its workers to think i.e the insane cultish speech that Trip does to the people who don't want to re-sign "We're a family, we'll always be there, who know is AEW will still be there in a year..."). The Batista re-tweet is something.

Peter Avalon challenged Brandon Cutler to a match. Shit's really on now. I hope they do a 20 mn draw.

Most famous for being the place of a concentration camp nickamed "the antechamber of death", as it was the gateway for the Auschwitz extermination camp during the 40's. Yep, that's what the name Drancy first evokes to most adult French people. That was the cultural tidbit fo the day...

Ok, who wants to work for this company in 2020 ? I mean, really ? Apart from kool-aid drinking conspis and washed-up MAGAs ?
