  1. I was just reminded that WP/RE would lose it any time someone would suggest a return to squash matches in wrestling. Bad memories from his childhood or something
  2. a lot of it was probably Vince's world viewing seeping through. "Moral Authority" and all
  3. why are the rings in British wrestling so freakishly small?
  4. I spent hours upon hours in college in the late 90s/early 2000s reading Scott's archives while bored of my ass in the computer labs/library between classes. I'm a sucker for his rise and fall of the WWF articles and even the death of the AWA piece. The WCW 93 one is pretty good also. I have not seen this anwered anywhere. Keith claimed that Chris Benoit was scheduled to win the main event of Uncensored 97 before Hogan vetoed. That can't possibly be true? Right? I echo the yearbook analogy
  5. plus when they finally put together Angle and Stephanie as "business partners" they seemed to lose all the chemistry they had the past several months. I think they thought putting him with her would give him a main event rub but it just didn't pan out
  6. that was PWI's quote of the year for 1995. I remember that issue for Tammy's flesh colored thong
  7. Shit I just realized this today. It's like I'm a junior in college again. Is anyone paying attention to his glorious return?
  8. on the last Shawn DVD released Shawn was adamant that he hated the boyhood dream angle and how the announcers fawned over his looks and dancing. He wanted more programs like Diesel and Mankind to get him over as a tough guy. In fact even back in 92 he didn't want to do the Boy Toy character but portray a tough guy heel. It's like Vince just pushed him how he thought a promoter would push a smaller "pretty boy" wrestler instead of just using common sense
  9. The NWO segment segment in 2002 where Shawn superkicks Booker while in mid sentence is all kinds of awesome. I know it was shit on at the time but it just looks so freaking cool. Nash, Big Show and X-Pac's reactions seal it
  10. was George Scott gone by WM 3? Because he usually put together all of Ricky's angles and feuds. Scott leaving the company hurt Steamboat's stock as he lost his one big supporter. A quick check says Scott left in 1986 so yeah Ricky was flying solo
  11. When I first joined TSM in 2004 after years of lurking one of my first posts was a slightly negative/innocuous comment about Owen Hart. Something about his initial babyface push in 92/93. RE PM'd me asking me to "explain myself" or something to that degree. I pussed out and basically apologized for the comment (even though I said nothing derogatory about Owen's talent)! Very funny (for me at least) in retrospect this thread is highly entertaining
  12. according to PWI Punk and Nash will be feuding which will lead to a match on PPV (probably at Night of Champions) The general point is that Nash is back as a full time character and it wasn't just a one shot angle deal. The thought it is that will help Punk because the office views Nash as a big star who will put him over (umm..). Although they were worried about his lack of reaction on Monday. I would guess they will go back to Punk/Cena around Survivor Series when Rock is returning
  13. According to poster Monsoon Classic (who spoke with Tony at a Minor league baseball game I believe) at TSM Schiavone only left the WWF in 1990 because he could not afford the high priced Connecticut homes and then he regretted leaving. Very interesting
  14. Someone should let Beast know that the Del Rio gimmick is based on how he and uncle Mil act in real life. Ha!
  15. Todd Martin can anyone make sense of that? I'm not saying he potentially isn't making good points but I have no idea what they are
  16. I compare this angle to late 95/early 96 WCW and ECW booking. Suprise booking that really excited me and motivated me to watch more and more to see what happens. Did those angles and this one make complete sense and necessarily feature great booking? Probably not but I loved it and wanted more of it. Much like this angle. Will that wear off? Yeah but I'm enjoying it right now and yup Steph sent the text
  17. wow never seen this before. Adrian Adonis's death makes Entertainment Tonight in 1988. 1:00 in or so DA Meltz talks about the gay gimmick
  18. from what they did tonight I think it will be that Stephanie hired Nash without H's knowledge to make sure Punk lost. Or something like that
  19. Kevin Nash costing Punk the title in 2011 will certainly get some shit going down on wrestling message boards. And probably won't be all negative
  20. Del Rio wins the title after Nash jackknifes Punk. Is Nash with the family or Del Rio?
  21. NASH!!
  22. to be fair I wasn't much of a fan of the angle either at the time. I knew neither one was turning. Savage wasn't going back heel just a year and change after his great babyface turn and no way would the WWF ever turn Warrior heel even if deep down I was wishing for that.
  23. Bobby's lisp only seem to come out when he was excited and started screaming and hollering. When he was relaxed it was barely noticeable
  24. other than maybe Kamala and Warlord/Barbarian I don't think any wrestler scared me as a kid more than Mark Lewin. What a scary looking bastard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EloX-k6ikFY
  25. At first I thought the finish of Summerslam would be Hunter helping Cena win and Cena turns heel and goes corporate. But they had Punk mention that in the closing seconds so I don't think that is happening. I still think Cena will win. Anyone else mark out for the Yahoo Serious reference? I believe Scott started using the term in 1997 so yes that is terrifying I love post retirement Bret
