  1. I'm in the minority I guess in that I don't mind current WWE programming. This is not saying much but it's much better than the stuff we got from 2002-2004. 2002 and 2003 are really bad IMO. I don't know once RAW started to settle down and have a less frantic pace and less shock value I started to enjoy it more. Same with Smackdown. There are obvious flaws and maddening booking but I like the laid back feel of both shows. It's more like the wrestling I grew up on. anyway I stopped watching briefly in early 90 when all the Tugboat/Dino Bravo stuff was going on in the main events. It was just a complete turnoff. Didn't watch much in 91 between WM and Summerslam because the Iraq stuff bored me. WCW after Starrcade 97 because I was so psyched for that show and it was such a kick in the groin. Last WCW PPV I ordered. ECW after Raven left was never the same. Them going off MSG in early 98 sort of ended by intest fandom of the product. The stuff in 99/2000 was tough to watch for me
  2. 'I've done every other drug in the world but not steroids" a rare time where reborn/post comeback Shawn made me laugh
  3. I think we had this discussion before but who was the seemingly one ECW female fan with the red hair who always wore Shane Douglas T shirts? She used to sit next to the short portly fellow with the ponytail at all the shows. Always had a camera with her. She's at Survivor Series 96 and puts her head in her hands in shame when Shawn loses the title. I think somebody said she went on to be the photographer for ROH

  5. Speaking of Fonzie in WWE, Raven and Gorilla making fun of him in the Jannetty/Shawn cage match is great. Raven calls him Bill Al- FONZ how about Lee Marshall at Wrestlemania 2 and Bockwinkel briefly doing commentary on televised House Shows in late 1987
  6. the pop he gets at Summerslam 98 is still unreal to me. You can argue that it was because of the Rock but I think he gets some credit there say what you want but at the end of the match it seemed WWF had two new stars on their hand. It just took a lot more effort to get one over as a top guy
  7. ha I forgot PG-13's late 99/early 2000 WCW run! I think they mostly worked Saturday Night when Jimmy Hart was booking but I think they worked some Thunders (one I know against Varsity Club). Well it was a little longer than their fall 95 WWF run
  8. yeah I definitely see the drop off in interest from Shaq. That I totally understand. Would have been fun
  9. re: Show/Cody Ive seen some negative feedback in some place on this being announced. When are people going to stop pretending that Show totally sucks. I don't know how anyone couldn't say he has improved drastically the last year or so. To say he's stale is fine but to say he doesn't know how to work is a bit of a stretch
  10. Bryan v Sheamus v Orton is scheduled for the House Shows post mania so it looks like he'll be right back in the title picture
  11. PG-13 randomly showing up on RAW in the fall of 95 for a couple spots had me marking out. IIRC they did some angle where they earned the right to appear on the show but it's hazy for me. They wouldn't return until the NOD angle began.
  12. Dave subtlety burying his star system in that rant made me laugh. ( I know what he was saying that the wrestlers really shouldn't care about that stuff) I wonder who the old time wrestler was? Id say either Harley Race or Superstar Graham
  13. I think a lot of the time the women are just happy to be getting a reaction or at least that's what they say publicly. The old timers probably bombard them with "don't be afraid to get that heat" talk and the like. The backstage guys probably try to convince them it's good for their career. ie: Trish
  14. Lex's son hates wrestling with an absolute passion. He was a star basketball player in high school and anytime someone mentioned his dad being a wrestler he would bury it quickly it's funny I was watching the legends round table online last week and in the "Heat Seekers" episode Bischoff opines that Lex was embarrassed to be a pro wrestler. I think there's something to that
  15. in retropsect knowing how important bumping, especially heel bumping, is within the company it probably caused a lot of turmoil for the ECW/WCW guys. It's probably the most important in house apsect of work within the company. as for DDP he was awesome in 97 but I thought he had grown stale by 99 or so. His mic work had deteriorated badly and I still drop in a 'scum" in my daily life
  16. I'm sure there were deeper, more selfish reasons but Undertaker's main criticism of the WCW guys was that they bumped on their sides instead of flat back bumps like the WWF guys took. That was his main issue with DDP. The deal with O'Haire was the lockeroom protocol stuff
  17. Nash's story about the Spring Break 98 Nitro is both hilarious and sad at the same time. The fact that his goal was to have Hogan with a beer in his hand so Bischoff would see it and thus not punish anyone illustrates how unprofessional the company could be during that time. The top guys were more concerned with partying and getting wasted at their job then,, ya know performing at their job
  18. Nash referencing the "How Much Ya Bench" SNL sketch from 1994 from one of the early NWO propaganda ads had me jump out of my chair back in 1996. It's a rather obscure sketch that most people don't necessarily know about
  19. Shawn was more intense in that promo than he's been in a while. Nice to see him focused and have a real set point instead of going the humble, gracious legend route
  20. today is Tommy Dreamer's 41st birhtday. I know it's wrestling but I can't believe he's only 41. That made him in his mid 20s during the ECW feud with Raven when it looked like he was pushing 40 then. Scott Levy is seven years older. Hey how'd they go to high school together!?
  21. wasn't one of the Vince Russo's ideas when he briefly returned to the creative team in 2002 was that the Rock would reveal he was gay? Something like he would start hitting on the male wrestlers and eventually come out
  22. Harlem Heat's theme was on an episode of Kids in the Hall in the early 90s before it was Harlem Heat's theme I guess
  23. not a theme per say but this is just spectacular. I watch it at least once a week
  24. Muta's 89 theme is the best theme ever this one ain't bad either: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONOgnAGR3g0
