Hell, I'm me and outside of the Jeff Hardy match I hadn't seen any of his TNA run at all until I saw the Christian tag two or three weeks ago. Not any promos, not any matches.

For what they were trying to do, get attention from people who don't necessarily follow the product or don't care enough to normally buy the network but might check it out for free, many of them lapsed fans, what would work better? A logical payoff they could do with Randy Orton or unveiling Sting in a key moment? This doesn't feel like a hugely stupid moment to me. Maybe if it was Bryan or even Reigns they had waiting in the wings. Or someone with a different crossover appeal like Mysterio on a last run, but we're talking about Randy Orton here.

They've already made the content and there's no cost to putting it on? I think the youtube stuff is generally pretty well done, to be honest.

He had a schedule he liked in TNA. He was comfortable being there. I think it's very telling that they've been negotiating for months and months. Whatever deal he ended up getting from WWE was one that he had to be very satisfied with.

I think he would have been better of debuting closer to the Rumble and being done with anything active by Mania. He's going to get inserted into the pantheon though and that's more than worth it for him to do this. WWE controls history.

They're going to market him like they did Warrior earlier this year. So long as they do that, he'll be relevant. Unless Vince wants to be really petty, they'll market him as something really special and weave him into their brand of wrestling history, which, for people under the age of 25, is basically the only brand.

He becomes relevant to an entire new generation? I promise you that them making such a big deal about him being in the video game has made him matter more to people under 20 than he could have managed in any other way. I point to the pop Vader got a year or two ago almost solely because he had been in the video game. It's not something to be underestimated and Sting is going to be presented as a much bigger legend, including put into the Hall of Fame.

I don't think he knew he was turning. It was a decision made in the moment. I really lived Hunter's grinch smile as he shook his hand.

If they do this well, they won't play this as a normal turn but will somehow build on the Steph promo. Or if they don't do this well we'll have a Show vs Cena tables match at TLC.

Just to be clear, I don't question your star rating. We often value different things in matches, or at least we value the same things differently. (And again, I liked the match.)

I actually think that Ziggler would have been hurt a lot more by an Orton run in than he was by the Sting one.

1.) I have some serious problems with what I've seen in Hansen so far, even though I see why someone like Will, and frankly, most people in our circle, would love him. I have some criticisms in the 83 match that I'll be curious if I still feel in a rewatch. 2.) I fully believe that, despite that, NintendoLogic could be from another planet.

Even Sting vs Bray Wyatt could be the world's best Sting vs Vampiro match, which is still better than Sting vs HHH.

I said I liked it. Twice. I just liked the other more. I'll have a comparison between the two after thanksgiving and we'll see if that opinion holds up on rewatches. If it does, I'll be tossing around "negative space."

I promise you Kane vs Sting would be way better than HHH vs Sting. One would shoot for the stands and end up terrible and the other would aim low and be just mediocre. It'd be the lesser of two evils, by a great deal, I think.

I honestly think that a smoke and mirrors Sting/Taker vs Show/Kane retirement match for Taker could be really marketable. It's not future looking but it's got spectacle written all over it and would be against two guys that Taker's comfortable with and that can follow the numbers of the sort of match it'd need to be. It's something that could be presented to lapsed and casual fans very easily as sort of a dream match.

I actually think they should give Batista the retirement match against Hunter that he wants. He's a much bigger star than he was six months ago and I think they can milk Drax for a big WrestleMania match. After tonight, I'd go for Dolph vs Hunter too. That's really what Dolph needs if they honestly wants to pull the trigger on him. Hell, I'd rather see Sting vs Kane or Sting vs Show than Sting vs Hunter. Sting isn't going to be able to deliver in a big match, not to the level of the hype, so they should make him more of part of a package. I think there's actually a lot of value in a celebratory Sting/Taker tag match that'd protect both Sting and Taker if Taker's even vaguely able to go in that sort of a setting.

9/11/1982 Hansen vs Funk was a hell of a match. I need to rewatch it before commenting more but it was great. I liked it a lot more than the 83 match and I liked that one.
