This is probably the best 6-man I've ever seen. This was so good and everyone played their roles perfectly.

Latter especially. Early LLPW & Early JD are really the black sheeps of joshi. Lots of great stuff to be found but very few (myself included) ever take the time to explore it deeply. *EDIT* There's tons of great Kandori matches one could bring up but just real quick i'll give a special mention to the matches vs Devil & vs Kansai in 80's JWP just as an example that she'd allready been really good for years before the Hokuto match which is usually the earliest one ppl talk about among her work. I'm all about Yuko Kosugi, who made an appearance within the last week. Looks younger than she did when she actually was younger. Toyota vs Kandori is totally on level. Had Toyota not botched a few moves, it would have been 5 stars. The Sato shoot was really petty. She ought to be embarassed about it. Hokuto wouldn't have as much heat without Kandori. Kazama vs Hokuto shows that.

Finally, people are seeing the light. I've seen more Kandori than most people and I find her really underappreciated and underrated. I loved the Toyota match(I gave it 4.5-4.75*), I liked the Hotta match and the tag leading up to it, loved DS, loved her tag against Yamada at Big Egg, liked her early LLPW match with Tatento, the Bull match(and the lead up tag to it) and I liked her series with Kudo. As you said, she brings the fire and legitimacy and she knows when to turn it on. Kandori just suffers alot from never jobbing in LLPW and from being in LLPW. On a side note, she is also a pretty cool lady. Not as scary as Chigusa though! *Still holding out hope for Aja/Kandori match.

The UWA worked with CMLL when they were about to die and there was a one shot CMLL vs AAA thing and that's about it.

Trusting the franchise of the company more than a guy who might flake out in a month. This, sadly, is true. Brock's well known for doing whatever Brock feels like doing, including abandoning his employer or even his profession on a whim. And we all know how Vince feels about employing people he doesn't have total control over, or at least trust to the extent that he trusts Dwayne Johnson. If you don't trust him, don't sign him Or write the finish in his contract.

Exactly.

If you don't see that 3/4 of the roster or more is obviously on something then I would suggest getting your eyes checked.
-
Well, there's others that do it who don't get punished(most of the roster) and let's face it, Rey at his normal weight would not even be looked at as someone they would hire or push. If Rey was at his normal 130lb weight, he wouldn't be anything in WWE.

Stallone and any actor are pretty bad examples.

Cena was overwhelmingly booed at a house show I went to a few years ago. Booing Cena is no gimmick. A good portion of fans do not like him and they also happen to be the loudest. Anytime his image appeared on WM weekend events/shows I went to he was booed with Cena Sucks chants following. Even in lines, Cena Sucks chants broke out. Please do not try to rewrite history here. I think if anything he's benefitted from alot of the hardcore fans giving up on wrestling, and let me tell you, even my most hardcore friends are barely into it now. He may also benefit since families and kids are more likely to attend house shows than major events due to pricing. From 3-9 in Toronto: John Cena defeated Kane in a Last Man Standing match. This was pretty good and went just about the right amount of time. There were dueling chants of "Let's Go Cena" and "Cena Sucks" and he worked hard as always. He gave Kane an Attitude Adjustment through a table and Kane was sitting up at ten but it was too late. From 3-16 in Montreal: John Cena vs Kane, Last Man Standing Mixed reaction for Cena, but a lot more cheers than during the video package. Biggest reaction so far, not biggest pop though, Santino has still the lead. Loud "Let's go Cena, Cena sucks" dual chants. They brawl to the outside, Cena gives a chair shot on Kane's back, Kane throws Cena in the steel steps, then back in the ring, he hits Cena with the bell and then with the mike. He chokeslams Cena for a 9 count. Kane goes for a table, back in the ring Cena back supplex Kane and tries his 5 knuckles shuffle but gets countered and thrown through a table in the corner. They bring another table, Cena reverses and hits the Attitude Adjustment through the second table for the win. The crowd pop more for the finish than during the match or the entrance. From 4-12 in Poland: 7th Match: Last Man Standing John Cena def. Kane Cena came out to a typical John Cena Mixed Reaction. Kane was beating down Cena with chairs, hit him with a microphone and threw him into the steps. When none of that worked - he grabbed a table from underneath the ring and threw Cena through it. After Cena got up at 9, Kane got a second table and set it up in the middle of the ring. Kane tried to chokeslam him throught the table, but Cena reversed it into the Attitude Adjustement throught the table. Kane tried to get up, but collapsed at 9. Match felt like it was very by the numbers - no playing to the crowd, and it felt like there was no improvisation at all - just the entire match planned out spot by spot earlier. Cena also stayed at ringside with the fans for a surprisingly short amount of time. So yeah, Cena is still getting booed at house shows.

GAEA would surely still be around if it didn't close. OZ is. How strong it would be would depend on if Chigusa ever got any more young girls.

While we are talking about Reed, why did they break up Doom? To push Ron? I'm up to march 1991 with WCW Saturday Night. I like it but the company had way too much going on at the time. The 4 tv shows(SN, WW, Power Hour, Main Event) are all like 4 different worlds. You could watch SN and not even know that some people are in the company. They just have way too many people. They also had just done Wrestlewar 1991 and while it was a great show, they really weren't fully prepared for it. Alot of matches weren't pushed much, especially the Doom/Freebirds title switch match. DDP is also nowhere to be seen as is Teddy Long. The announcers of WCW were pretty good around this time. JR was good, Paul E. was really good, Dusty is fun, Bob Caudle was fun and Missy well fulfills every woman stereotype ever. They also had Gordon and Lance Russell at this time. I haven't even heard Tony yet at this point. The most over people at this time are Sid, Sting and Luger with Michael Hayes starting to catch up. The best wrestlers on this so far are probably Arn and Brad Armstrong. I'll keep on watching until I get bored, but so far after a month or so, I really cannot keep track of everyone(so many guys with random appearances) and everyone. One thing I'd like to note is that WCW had a wide range of advertisers. I've seen ads for R&B cd's, Game Genie, Burger King, alka-seltzer, a sewing kit and some weird doo-wop cd commercial with the corniest white people you have ever seen. The point I'm trying to make is that you really don't see this nowadays. You might get a car commercial, maybe some kind of diet pill and maybe a movie.

I'm working on WCW SN 2-2-1991 and the Steiners have a squash match. First off, some guy named Paul Lee is the promotions 3rd Ric Flair style wrestler(Adding Flair and Landell). He looks completely like him except that he is small. During his match, his partner gets knocked out by a Rick Steiner clothesline. Rick then drags the guy to his corner to tag in Paul and literally holds his hand up so he can tag him. If a guy is out like that, just end the match.

I'm working on WCW SN 1-26-1991. The highlight of this show is the appearance of Gangsta Arn Anderson. Arn Anderson and Barry Windham walk around a junk yard carrying sledgehammers, talking about how the horsemen are the baddest gang and how they are going to destroy the Renegade Warriors. Gotta love Arn rocking the backwards hat. Also a pretty good Rip Rogers vs Ricky Morton match on here and overall great commentary with Paul E and JR. The original Boys N Tha Hood

So speaking of IWA, whats Nate Webb up to these days?

And not being able to apply his moves correctly and doing WWE scripts proves point B. Thank you and good night.

Cena could get a unanonimous crowd reaction if he followed a few steps:1) Tighten up his moves - It's not even his wrestling ability, which is debatable. It's how he performs his moves. I can count on one hand the number of times he has correctly applied the STF in the last 9 years. 2) No more comedy promos - Cena is always so much better when he is not reading rehearsed lines. He was so over before when he used to be able to go out and do his own raps. 3) Less superman style comebacks - Some of his comebacks come across really lame and turn people off. I think Cena losing to Rock was probably a good thing as it finally showed some weakness. Cena did have a pretty unanimous crowd reaction when he was rising to the top, which is exactly how he got there. The problem is the second he got to the top, WWE stopped letting him do everything he did to get there and turned him into generic babyface #3000(see Randy Orton's original face turn for more examples).

Joshi had a bad 1997/1998 but even with all the new promotions and splits, they still had alot of good things going on. Still alot of talent and lots of shows. I actually really enjoyed AJW post-split. 2005 was the death knell of Joshi with GAEA and AJW closing. No one seemed to learn much from it until a few years ago when IR got hot and new girls started to pop up. Then NEO dies and things get bad again. Currently, Stardom probably has the best ideas and the best promotion going forward, but Joshi is a niche of a niche and people don't need wrestling right now. One of my friends hit over 100 shows during one of the hotter years but probably isn't going to clear 15 at the current rate. NJPW to me was at its worst in 2003/2004 with all the MMA stuff. I don't even want to go into the Sasaki/Fujita debacle. I don't think PRIDE hurt Takada's career. It made him relevant again and he's still famous now.

Still running shows here and there I think. But what about the popcorn machine?

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 3

Santo is saving his gimmick for his son. He unveiled him a few years ago at one of the big shows when his son was either 9 or 13 and it even made one of the lucha magazine covers. -
Well the thing with Memphis is that it's best as a territory and territories are gone for good. Any promotion can try and hide their shows, but someone is always going to handheld it and write millions of reports on it. Also, we are talking worldwide tv here. How are fans in other cities ever going to see these matches? Let's not even talk about how this would ruin any ppv business.
-
But what good is a show that no one is going to and no one is making money from? Also, now that their tv is gone, how are people going to know about it? Deep South tried something like this when WWE stopped bothering with them and it was over before it got started. I could see WWE putting FCW on their youtube channel. I could also see maybe 100 people total watching.
-
What is FCW really without the tv show? There's an okay training facility but that's it. It's very faseable to think something is going on when your tv show gets shut off. The only other possible explanation I can get out of all of this is that FCW will be on 24/7 or the never debuting WWE network and they wanted to get it off because of that.

I'll have to break it down to each object: Objects that are part of the ring - steps, wires, posts, barricades - Unless you are throwing them physically at someone, you are ok. You can ram people into them and even with wires you can choke your opponent. Tables - Ramming an opponents head into one is okay Putting one through it is not. Throwing one at someone I guess is okay. Chairs - Ramming and Choking is okay, as well as tripping someone into one(think Raven's move), but hitting is not allowed inside or outside of the ring. If it's allowed, it's bad officiating. To sum it up: Ramming your opponent, choking your opponent or whipping your opponent into something - Okay Throwing an object - Illegal Do not count TNA for any of these rules or current WWE. On F4W they were recapping one of the TNA shows and the announcers said that you are allowed to interfere or do something illegal once during the match and you will get off free. The dumbest rule I ever saw was during a HHH/HBK match on Raw. One of them laid on the others back and they called it a pin(as part of a double pin). I'm still upset about it. ______________________________ I would like to see more managers. Managers are now general managers, but it's really not the same. Managers allow for different kinds of feuds and they help connect wrestlers to other wrestlers that they would usually have nothing to do with. There's literally millions of different uses and the best part is, you can have managers look bad every single week and it'll only make people hate them more. You can also have managers represent a million different wrestlers too and it will not overexpose them. As for face managers, yes they usually are there for just cheerleading, but face wrestlers need cheerleaders now because fans don't care. Don West made Amazing Red 100 times more interesting that he was. It's really simple and pretty much the reverse of the heel manager role. You take someone who is popular with fans and use his popularity to get other guys over. Someone really should start a thread showing the value and storyline oppurtunities available with managers.
