  1. I've been looking up babyface managers and there really weren't that many. The main ones that come up are: (Not mentioned but should be) Richard Lee's face Moondogs in 1993 - This combination was fantastic. Lee could talk and often served as the punching bag for the team to keep various feuds going. What Lee did in Memphis in 1993 was absolutely awesome and was probably the best managerial run in the 90's. Albano's face run in 1985/1986ish - Haven't really seen as much of it as I probably should but it seems like he did decent, but obviously not his peak Cornette's Dynamic Dudes run - We all know how this played out Cornette's MX vs Heyman's OMX feud - One of the coolest feuds ever with two of the best managers in Heyman and Cornette going at it Humperink's run with Bigelow - Weird combination that never really clicked Arn's run as an advisor to the Horsemen in late 90's WCW - Nothing too special Dibiase's run with the Steiners in WCW - I kind of liked it even though it didn't last very long Ellering with the LOD - The LOD were always kind of tweeners and the less said about their WWF run the better Lord Alfred vs Heenan in the AWA - Hayes wasn't really a face but kind of became the defacto face in the feud, which was really good Am I missing any? Researching this topic, it seems it is virtually agreed upon that face managers can't work and don't work because the faces should be good talkers and that the managers need to get heat but can't actually do anything to get heat without becoming heels. But this is wrestling, where anything can happen, and I'm stubborn and refuse to take no for an answer. So PWO, how you would have booked a babyface manager either back in the territory days, the 90's or even today(if you are up for a real challenge)? Can you crack the code of making a babyface manager work? My main idea would probably be similar to what Richard Lee did with the Moondogs. I could definitely see a big face tag team like say NXT's Heavy Machinery being able to use a manager since they are both bigger dudes who can't talk and can't look too weak because they are bigger guys. I also could definitely see a rival face manager of a heel manager. They could basically serve as eternal rivals and they would always have the neutralize the cheating manager storyline to work with. I also think they would be able to do some trios matches which could be fun.
  2. Owens is definitely pushing 300 if not more. No question about that.
  3. Which promotion had the best undercard and when? MNW WCW is the best one I can think of but that one is too easy due to having everyone.
  4. I don't know if this would be a super bad deal for ROH. The promotion is very very slowly growing, so much that they aren't really growing. Sinclair isn't throwing them any bones. They are losing half their roster to their supposed "NJPW friends" and the rest to EVOLVE, TNA and WWE. The thing they do best - bringing in Japanese guys and putting on good matches/shows are already being done better by NJPW and NXT. I hate to say it, but ROH is behind the times at this point. What does ROH really do that is better that anyone else in this day and age? I don't think WWE buying them would be the worst thing in the world if they wanted to keep ROH as is. They could send some NXT and developmental talent over there which would freshen things up, ROH talent would get exposure on the network and they'd basically be able to continue as is, though they'd lose the NJPW relationship, which I'm not entirely sure is helping them that much anyway.
  5. I was thinking about it and I don't think there's a single match I really want to see on this show. This has to be one of the WM's that I was the least hyped for.
  6. It's the internet. Things don't go away, unless they are rare wrestling matches that no one else has.
  7. I think it's pretty embarrassing for everyone involved. I was debating whether it was worse for Brad(I think you might know why I said Brad and not Xavier) or Paige, but I think it has to be Paige though. Not only for the content of it but just being a girl in general. I don't think it's as bad for guys as guys are a bit less shy about that stuff. There's also some definite double standards involved and I think girls are just more vicious towards that stuff.
  8. I would personally find it very embarrassing. Any time someone looks her up, whether it be for her wrestling career or in her personal life, that's going to be one of the first things they see. Maybe that's something you want to be remembered for, I wouldn't.
  9. If you are of any fame and you've filmed stuff like this on video, you are asking for this to happen. It's Paige's, Xavier's and Brad's faults for allowing themselves to be filmed and it's the leakers fault for leaking it. In 100 years when their great great great grandkids look them up, this is going to be one of the first things they see.
  10. I've been watching Cody Rhodes since his OVW days and he really hasn't changed that much since then.
  11. Just to jump in, I read it as - What's a 5 star lucha match? And Dave dropped V3 vs Atlantis, which was a a Match of the Decade candidate. Dave knows there's been other great matches, that's just one he mentioned. I'm sure he doesn't quite have the list that some of us do though. I'm sure he could of mentioned more but who knows what the situation was. Maybe he was busy and maybe he wasn't overthinking it like people are here.
  12. I know. I just don't get it. All they have to do is have a few matches, let some guys do some promos in between to build them up and lather, rinse and repeat. Anyone can do this and yet no one does. Wrestling really isn't complicated.
  13. TNA's show tonight was awful. Josh's commentary during the women's match was one of the worst commentated matches I've ever seen and I legit had to hold myself from putting my fist through the monitor to nail him. Awful. Dutch Mantell then cut a promo showing all of the old TNA guys who are now in WWE and talked about how great Impact used to be because you know, it sucks now. Tons of shoot words and WWE nostalgia all through the show too.
  14. Yeah the Regal match was the only real highlight of that run. I can't help but feel he's going to end up in the same spot though.
  15. I didn't think Hero was really that good in his first NXT run. Some of it was his fault, some of it was his booking. He didn't stand out in any way, and that was before all of the super indy guys started coming aboard, where he really would have gotten overshadowed. Being good in WWE is a lot about being able to make matches with less time and more restrictions work and he didn't show that he had a great skill at that. His character or lack thereof didn't really work out that well either,
  16. Agreed, but it's funny because even in real life fights, size doesn't mean an automatic win, and that's in pretty much every code minus boxing whether it be Sumo, K-1 or MMA. If the guys are even enough though, the heavier will guy will likely pull ahead. I think having too many big guys in a promotion is just as big of an issue as having too many small guys. It's really best just to have a bunch of normal people and have one or two really big and small guys so those guys can stay over and you don't end up with physical mismatches. This is one of the things female wrestlers have going for them. For the most part, the girls only have a few inches between each other and the weights aren't that big of a difference like it constantly is and is pushed as with the men. I highly doubt Vince ever says "Banks is just too small" or "I gotta push ___ because she's big", but this is common with the men.
  17. Agreed. Hero is easily 300+, especially on his 6'2-6'5 frame.
  18. This is one of the problems with this mindset and I'm not directing this at Grimmas, but just in general in the PC culture. You can get into so much questioning when you start getting into this and "well what about ____?", that everything ends up as being a problem and offensive.
  19. I really don't think his weight gain has helped him. I don't believe he got any extra bookings due to his weight gain only.
  20. If it's tiresome to you, just ignore the topic and move on. Obviously you don't want to discuss it, so don't post about it and everybody will move on. I would love to talk about it. I haven't seen any argument that states body shaming is good for society yet, though. From all the reading, and talking to people and evidence I can see, body shaming is a serious issue in North America at least. You should see what it's like in a place like China if you think its bad here. Even at America's worst, we got nothing on that. I'm sorry, but the argument that it's worse somewhere else isn't an argument for anything. It's a worldwide thing. Not US exclusive.

  22. >If people with society perfect bodies get advantages over others, that's pretty messed up. UFC is a sport. That's life. See here about attractive looking people being more successful: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/martha-ts-laham-/sitting-pretty-good-looking-people-make-more-money-but-its-not-all-roses_b_8203894.html . Seeing people who look larger than life is part of the experience sometimes. >Again, I don't watch enough UFC to know. Last time I watched Tank Abbott was a big star. And why did Tank Abbott work? Because he looked like an average guy you'd find in your local bar. Even at his peak, he never had a great record. It certainly wasn't his skills that got him fame. Why was Royce Gracie chosen over Rickson to represent the Gracie's? Because they thought they could sell more lessons if they had a small guy beating bigger guys than if they had Rickson, who was a decent size and by all accounts much much better, doing it. >Yeah, Vince is not my standard on what right and wrong is. To clarify, body shaming is harmful to society. I will call out anyone who body shames. You're gonna be calling out a ton of people. Most of 4chan(Asuka's looks are one of the most consistently talked about subjects), F4W and just about every site I can think of.
  23. How you look is a big part of being a wrestler. One of the more important things along with in-ring work, charisma, mic skills and character/gimmick. Is it? If so why? Is it important in UFC? Somebodies body doesn't matter to me when it comes to them as a wrestler, why would it? You've never liked a wrestler because of their look? You never thought ____ is cool, _____ is really pretty and I wanna hit that or I wish I looked like ____? >Is it important in UFC? Definitely. Your size determines which division you compete in first off. You get too out of shape and you might not make weight. I hear every event about how ____ looks like they are in _____ shape. People like Paige VanZant got a huge advantage because of their looks in sponsors, opportunities and interest. PRIDE and K1 were masters of using this. Bob Sapp became a superstar off of his looks and charisma and people like Giant Silva got booked solely for being tall. >Somebodies body doesn't matter to me when it comes to them as a wrestler, why would it? Might not be important to you. Vince has given some people the rocket ship based on little more than looks and given great wrestlers the shaft because of their looks. I've seen bigger threads on some places about which wrestler is going bald than matches I thought were MOTYC's.

  25. People rip Cheeseburger all the time for being too thin. He is also a lower card guy though.
