  1. The amount of money NJPW and AJPW pissed away by refusing to work with each other is astounding.
  2. Look is an important part of wrestling and any on screen role.
  3. Too late - Demolition vs LOD
  4. There is not one girl I can name who looks better with short hair than long hair and I've seen thousands of women. Especially not Asuka, whose haircut I'm still not over. Also, sex appeal has always been a huge part of women's wrestling and always will be. There's no changing that, it's never going away and it's a losing battle in an age where people are fantasizing over Vickie Guerrero, and yes, that happened.
  5. If you are a celeb and you are taking naked pics of yourself, you are BEGGING for this to happen.
  6. WWF MSG 10/28/1991 - Bret Hart vs The Berzerker From: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2017/05/wwf-msg-10281991-ic-title-bret-hart-vs.html Bret Hart beat The Berzerker with a crucifix pin. Man this was good. The Berzerker was just great. He bumped big and he went 100 MPH at all times. There's not a lot of other sprinty bumping big dudes but he really pulls it off here. I got a ton of laughs out of watching him and this was one of the more fun matches I've watched in a while. Bret was as good as always here. He sold for everything and slowed it down enough to get you invested. He sold really well too. They got a bunch of time too. The story of the match was Bret knocking the Berzerker out of the ring multiple times early and then the Berzerker slowing it down with various holds until Bret made his big comeback at the end. Really fun pro wrestling and this will make you want to see more Berzerker. Rating:***1/2 Some shots from the match:
  7. No way. E+C's tag run was good and he had a good run as the Rated R superstar and did okay during the Smackdown 6 era.
  8. This is spot on. When I was at Easter dinner a few weeks ago and was talking about the Mania trip I just got back from my uncle asked "who's the champ now"? And he probably hasn't watched wrestling in 25 years. On a slightly related note... both my mother and uncle knew about Cena and Nikki's engagement and neither ever know or ask anything about wrestling. My uncle was like "oh you were there for that??" and my mom had texted me the next day asking what the reaction was for the engagement segment. It was odd. Things like TMZ, msn.com, E! and gossip magazines are big.
  9. I think there's also a large portion of people now who read the boards/Observer/rumors and don't actually watch the show unless it's Mania.
  10. They were both younger teeny face idol tag teams but that's about it.
  11. Were there any more Rock N Roll Express rip-offs besides these teams?: - Midnight Rockers - Southern Rockers - Rock and Roll RPM's - New Rockers - US Express(just in name only though) - Ring Crew Express
  12. I though Kwang, Kama and the Sultan were all cool.
  13. Yeah I agree. Sheamus hasn't gotten that kind of push since 2013.
  14. Sheamus' ascent to the top wasn't really organic though. He really didn't deserve his main event push when he got it. Triple H/Vince put him there and once they moved onto other fetishes, they forgot about him. I wouldn't call his outside of the ring work that good but in-ring he was pretty decent. I think he's where he should have been all along right now.
  15. You're right. Thanks to Akiyama as booker/promoter and Kento Miyahara as the top star, AJPW has grown from their absolute nadir in late 2015/early 2016 to being a pretty solid indie-level group now. Conversely, Bushiroad's involvement in NOAH, while it may have been the only thing keeping them in business, resulted in the installation of Jado as booker and the interminable Suzukigun invasion angle that completely tanked interest in the promotion. They sold themselves to another company and are trying to rebuild with Katsuhiko Nakajima as the top guy, but it doesn't seem to be taking. All of this is laughably small potatoes compared to the period being discussed in this thread, of course. NOAH dug their own grave and that started back a few years before the split. Misawa and Kobashi would still be on top today if Misawa was alive and Kobashi was healthy. Aside from 2007 or 2008 they produced almost no new rookies and promotions that don't do that or steal other people's guys tend to suffer in the long run. Maybe Zeus, The Bodyguard and Miyahara aren't the best guys ever but at least they are somewhat fresh.

    NXT talk

Yeah, Miley is going to be money. He's not the biggest guy on the roster in reality, but he looks like he is due to what I'm guessing is acromegaly. They just have to not have him say anything, change his name and just do it Goldberg style and I think he'll not only be able to get over with Vince, but with the fans as well. I'm more excited to see what they can do with him than anyone else on the roster.
  17. Has any other top star had such a lackluster career like Orton? He's been at the top for 13-14 years now and I would easily put his career below every single one of his immediate peers. As I started thinking more, the only other guy I could come up with who was on top like for him for so long and did so little was Lex Luger, but I found Luger to be a bit more entertaining. It's almost an amazing accomplishment in a way.

    Mauro and JBL

JBL has a long history of bullying and other negative behaviors. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt here and I have no doubt in another year or so, we'll be hearing about his next incident.
  19. Steve's doing pretty good there being in the White House and all
  20. Really quick smashmouth style wrestling match. Wish they would have got more time because these two have a classic in them down the line. Too short to get anything above *** for me.
  21. My first exposure to ECW. Ended up thinking all these guys were pretty awesome. I wondered for years what happened to the Eliminators as they looked like the greatest tag team ever, then I watched a 6-hour comp and realized that they weren't that good. Thought RVD was the real deal and really loved the Taz gimmick. I thought the Douglas/Pitbull match was too long even as a kid. I still can remember lines from that show 20 years later, so you know it was a good one.
  22. WWE will certainly pick him up if he wants to get into wrestling and I don't know where else he can make that kind of money but wrestling. Wrestling isn't set up right now for tag teams though and I don't even think peak Road Warriors would be that big.
  23. I reviewed the match here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2017/04/evolve-3312017-keith-lee-vs-donovan.html Quick thoughts, see review for more: Pretty just a spot-fu highlight reel match. All flips, no substance and pretty much representative of what I don't like about wrestling in 2017. Some shots from the match:
  24. Nice to see someone else loves Big Show vs Floyd Mayweather as much as I do.
