Might go check this out. Glad to see WALTER getting mentioned. He's a huge dude that does the Japanese style and I have no idea how it took people this long to notice him.

I didn't see this, but literally, 2 minutes for these two? For a match of that caliber? I'd love to see the match, but I wouldn't even download it for 2 minutes.

What does "casual fan" even mean in 2017 wrestling?

No, he's a normal fan. We're the odd ones. -
Schiavone and Cornette's blind spots as fans
rzombie1988 replied to BigBadMick's topic in Pro Wrestling
Jim's never been a fan of the WWF going back to the 70's, so I don't see why he would waste his time with it. -

Someone who doesn't watch regularly and might tune in if there is a big event, if they happen to catch it on TV or if WrestleMania is on. -
What are your thoughts on making Wrestlemania a 2 day event?
rzombie1988 replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
WM 33 could have had: Night 1 - Brock/Goldberg, HHH/Rollins, Owens/Jericho, Ladder Match, Women's match, Aries/Neville Night 2 - Taker/Roman, Orton/Wyatt, Cena's Mixed tag, AJ/Shane, Battle Royale, Women's Match, Corbin/Ambrose Both would have been pretty decent cards with a little mix of everything. You could even set up something on Night 1 to payoff on Night 2. -

I think so and at worst they could do well on one night and sell out the other. The fans are there and it would still be Wrestlemania. -
What are some things you've learned from 1983 Project, e-feds and armchair booking? Some things I've learned: - WWE having to book 7 hours a week of wrestling, plus another 3 on PPV weeks is something that I think is almost impossible to do well. There's too much time to fill. I couldn't do it and I'm not sure I'd even want to try. - Not being able to cycle guys in and out makes wrestling booking 10x harder. It dooms certain people to certain spots and after a while, it makes everything just "meh". The territory system was the most perfect system wrestling could ever have. You bring guys in, milk them dry, get rid of them and bring them back years later when they are fresh again. - Squash matches are really important. You basically sell off your pennies to get dollars. You use up the guys who mean little to make the guys who mean a lot worth more. This saves some of your lesser roster members from losing and keeps your top roster members strong. - Managers are such a big part of making these systems work. They are great pieces. You can make anyone relevant with them. They never lose their heat because they don't wrestle, their crew does. You can keep them around for years as well without them getting stale. - I really do think 6-7 weeks is the ideal amount of time to build up to a show. It gives you enough time to do some pre-building, the actual match/angle, some post angle stuff and then interviews and stuff to hype it up. Anything under a month is going to be too soon and anything over 2 months is too long.

They discussed this on WOR over the weekend and it seems like an interesting concept. The pros: - Nothing would have to be rushed - More people would get on the show. - The show obviously wouldn't be 7 hours - The fans there are staying for the whole weekend anyway, so selling tickets to it shouldn't be an issue - It would hurt the various indy shows running there which is a plus for WWE - Could lead to more publicity. There'd be two nights to talk about and it would certainly keep the IWC busy. - It would be pretty original. There's no major wrestling event that has done this aside from Collison in Korea and AJW Dreamslam which ran a week or so apart. The cons: - It'd be lots of wrestling - It would probably put an end to Wrestlemania parties/groups. Good luck getting people to come two days in a row. - Would probably confuse people who don't pay attention any other time of the year. I could totally see "WTF, Wrestlemania is 2 days this year? OMG I didn't know". - Would likely either bump NXT or the Hall of Fame which would hurt their attendances and people might not be able to afford it. - I could see a lot of people only watching the 2nd night, especially busier people or older people who still watch on PPV. Overall though, I think it's an idea worth trying. I'd be excited to see it happen and even though I haven't gone in years, I'd be tempted to.

Could Brock have had the same level of match with anyone else? I think so. He hasn't though. Except for the Cena Extreme Rules match, that was his best WWE match imo. Maybe just maybe Reigns and Cena are actually good. His 3 way with Rollins and Punk was really good as was his Punk match. The Taker stuff was good. He hasn't had many other guys as opponents. No one's getting a great one out of HHH, the Goldberg series was very short though they did the best they could with it and Orton's Orton.

The year was 2006. People were saying this exact same thing about John Cena. He went on to become the biggest star in pro wrestling. The year was 2007. People were saying this exact same thing about John Cena. He went on to become the biggest star in pro wrestling. The year was 2008. People were...ahh you get the point I hope. Cena's booking was absolutely atrocious. So bad that I wrote about it:http://prowrestlingonly.com/index.php?/topic/36821-wwes-awful-booking-of-cena-from-2005-2006/ Cena was and is a much bigger star than Reigns. He drew better and more people were watching each week, but his longterm forced push also did cause WWE to lose 25% of it's audience during its time: https://staticseekingalpha.a.ssl.fastly.net/uploads/2015/12/2/36229206-1449098933444331-Wayne-Duggan.png Rather dubious to claim Cena's push was responsible for a downward ratings trend that had already been in place for years before he ever got a big push. It's not all him, but he was the face of the company and if you want the glory, you gotta take the blame as well. Cena helped cultivate and run off decent portions of the audience and the people he ran off were likely hardcore fans.

I'm sure Dylan still believes in the Political Hit theory. I mean, does this Taker win get him over more or more liked or anything? No, it's only going to make that worse. He's never going to be what they want him to be no matter how much they bury everyone else. There's no way they aren't aware of this. They can keep pushing him forever I guess, but WWE's already been in a 2 decade long decline and this will just speed it up. There's really no point in watching main WWE programming right now if you like anyone but Roman, because they aren't going anywhere or are going to do anything as long as he's around. That's kind of why I stopped. What's the point really?

That's one really good thing about the less is more approach and being limited - You really have to get the most out of what you can do. I would rather work with one of those guys over most of the current wrestlers any day as at least at the end, I might eat a potato or two, but I'm not getting dropped on my head.

Brock vs Reigns at 34, no question. I guess we'll get another Shane match and I wouldn't be shocked at a Goldberg retirement.

i kind of admire Vince's hard-headedness at this point. This is a man on a mission that is never going to succeed. Anyone else would have put down the sail a while ago, but not Vince. The show was both longer and better than I expected. Final time was 7 hours and 12 minutes. Nothing was really that bad either.
-
I'm excited for the show but there's nothing I really want to see. I really do think Golberg/Brock could be good if they do a short hoss matchup with juice and lots of MMA.

The first two seasons of TNG are pretty rough, after that though it's some good stuff. Deep Space 9 was even better though. The less said about Voyager the better and I seemed to be one of the few who liked Enterprise. I like TOS. It's campy and I enjoyed the various alien gimmicks. Not a single bit of interest in seeing the new Star Trek movies though and from what I've read, the new TV series seems like it is really going to go out of its way with being over the top liberal, so I don't think that'll be for me either.

Since everyone and their mother has tattoos now, he truly does just kind of look like anyone else. Not having shitty tattoos make you a rebel now. For what it's worth, I thought he was one of Sanity. I also do like Sanity.

The Triple threat was great. AOP are my favorite guys in wrestling right now and that was just amazing booking. That's how you book a 3 way. Excited for AOP vs Heavy Machinery

The AJPW/Noah Spilt - Online fans perspective from that time

I can tell you that a lot of the loyal AJPW fans in Japan weren't thrilled. Heard multiple stories of them refusing to go to NOAH shows out of loyalty to Baba. -
The One Man Gang defends the UWF Heavyweight Title. Full review here: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2017/03/uuniversal-wrestling-federation-611987.html Thoughts: Big Bubba Rogers got the win with a top rope splash. Great match. They started out with testing each other through shoulder block collisions to see who could move the other and then Bubba took a fall into the corner and outside. He made a nice comeback and they basically traded blows until near the end when Gang missed a middle rope splash and Bubba made the comeback. Bubba threw excellent punches and both men were thrilled to bump around and sell big for the other guy. The crowd was hot and Bubba's fiery comebacks were really great. There was some clipping here but this is what you wish all big men matches could be like and these guys would have gotten over huge today. Rating:***1/2 Some shots:

How would you have booked a babyface manager?
rzombie1988 replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
Liz was absolutely useless, though. She couldn't get involved physically, couldn't talk, and only existed as an entity in wrestling because Randy demanded it. At absolute best she was there to prove how much of a shithead Randy was, but that wasn't her role as FACE manager at all. Agreed. There's managers, bodyguards and valet's and Liz was much more of a valet. Managers = Mix of an agent/coach and could be a past wrestler as well. For the girls, Moolah fits this and I'm debating on if Alexandra York could fit into this or not. Valets = More along the lines of a girlfriend. This where your Lita's, Sunny's, Liz's and a lot of others go. They can be a distraction and eye candy and sometimes get involved, but you aren't going to them for wrestling advice and there hasn't really been a female "agent" type, though I don't see any reason why you couldn't go that route. Bodyguards = Think Diesel and Big Bubba - Not really someone you'd have scoring your next contract and not someone you'd go to for wrestling advice, but cold hard muscle. For the girls, Chyna and Nicole Bass fit this role. The discussion kind of got sidetracked from what I was looking for with the valets. -

rzombie1988 replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
Sure. Just I don't know if that could be done the same way these days after HLA, Pudding fights and the whole character and behavior of Liz being extremely conservative compared to what we are used to nowadays.
