Promoting wrestling or any fighting sport on the promise of great matches and no storylines has never really drawn big mainstream interest. We know what does draw, and we saw that with Floyd/Conor, which did more than any wrestling show will in the next 10 years. Everyone knew that was going to suck too.

I have to. I want what is best for wrestling. I want it to succeed and I want everyone in the world to watch it. I want every show to sell out and I want everyone to be rich and healthy. I care about wrestling, because I'm going to be around in another 20 years discussing it. Wrestling is a part of me. What if I told you wrestling sucks? It does suck right now.

Dave has now declared Donovan Dijak vs Keith Lee was the best match this year in the US and on par with Taker/Michaels 1 from Mania. I just can't take Dave anymore. He's so obviously shilling these days and there's no way in hell he can truly even believe the stuff he says. And it's one thing if its just him trying to boost sales, but people are buying it and then repeating it, and I got to deal with those little shits every single day. I would even go as far to say that this shit is a reason why I don't even watch wrestling any more.

Bruiser Brody was tall. You're allowed to burn bridges and not want to do jobs if you're tall. He drew too. Low-Ki's extra 5 fans ain't gonna do it.

Money > morals. Morals don't pay the bills for broke wrestlers.

Kitao didn't suck at sumo. His promotion in reality isn't that questionable either since he forced a playoff on his last tournament before he became a Yokozuna, and that's considered equivalent to a win in sumo. This followed a 2nd place jun-yusho. He also had to deal with 4 people who either were or eventually became Yokozuna. Had he stayed, there would have been 5 Yokozuna which would have been a record.

He already was with LAX in one of his various runs.

At one point it was said in the 400,000 bracket as far as MP3 downloads go. Which does not account for his youtube channel and various bootleg Now lets say he is exaggerating by half, that puts it at 200,000, which GFW struggles to get on cable weekly. Cornette is more relevant than a lot of the guys he slags. The bracket is exaggerated multitudes higher on the MP3 front. Though his rants can pop a number on the tube. which makes sense since that is much more searchable then finding a podcast episode and drilling down to the specific thing you want to hear. EDIT: I'll definitely take the L on thinking he's a brand problem waiting to happen. A second authority figure seems odd regardless in 2017. I don't listen to his full podcast every week but I listen to everything he puts up on youtube. I'm starting to become a fan of Raven's commentary too.

Comments that don't warrant a thread - Part 4

Test really wasn't that bad for a in WWE land. Decent look, okay enough in-ring. His WWECW run wasn't too bad either. -
I think there is a little more to the Dave/NJPW relationship than is being said. Dave is responsible for NJPW's current interest level in the English Speaking world along with them coming to ROH. He's extremely favorable to them and despite thinking this is the best stuff ever, he still devotes almost no time into any other Japanese promotion. NJPW being hot helps F4W. It means more subscriptions and more publicity for Dave. Because each promotion in Japan is different. This would be like saying "he loves WWE, but spends almost no time on GFW or any other American promotion". NJPW is the big one in Japan and has been for the past few years. He loves their matches, hence he spends more time covering them. If other fans took his recommendation, but then didn't like NJPW, they wouldn't be breaking through over here. But they do, so it is. They really aren't that different anymore. There's not much of a difference between Zero-1, NJPW, Wrestle-1, AJPW and NOAH and Dave has always prioritized NJPW over the other promotions since the 2000's. Sure Dragon Gate, DDT and BJW have always been a little different, but Dave has never really bothered with those anyway. NJPW being hot is the 2nd best thing that could happen for Dave besides WWE being hot, especially in a world where TNA is basically dead and ROH will never be able to be anything more.

Dave has now rated 4 Kenny Omega matches above 5 stars, putting him at higher ratings than other wrestler in history. Are Kenny and Dave getting it on or something? He can't seriously believe Kenny Omega is better than every wrestler of the last 40 years.

Live Wrestling: What are you watching, what are you going to watch?
rzombie1988 replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
None. I've seen more wrestling than 99.9% of the population and I have no desire to really go to any shows. The only thing I could maybe see myself going to is an NXT show. The shows are expensive. They conflict with my schedule and I can watch just about anything I want for free anyway. -
It's pretty obvious why WWE likes Cass. He's tall.

I had some fun making wrestler image flairs. It's a lot easier to do than you would think. -
Trump MAGA Love seeing CNN embarrass themselves. Hope Andrew Kaczyinski, Donnie O Sullivan and everyone involved in that debacle get doxxed in return.

The sex scene is a pretty big part of the story and sets up one of the main plots. -

Here are my thoughts on the GLOW Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling show, coming from someone who has reviewed a lot of GLOW on this blog: http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/gorgeous-ladies-of-wrestling-glow-disk.html http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2013/07/glow-gorgeous-ladies-of-wrestling-disk.html http://prowresblog.blogspot.com/2012/08/glow-disk-9-part-2.html I've watched a lot of of GLOW. GLOW was different. They went with the basic gist of wrestling, but instead skipped the athletic/sports part and made it more of a variety show like a Hee-Haw that just happened to be about wrestling. The work was never that good but girls really got how to play characters. Sometimes, they would dip too far in the realm of unbelievability and that would hurt the show. The show really stuck true to old Glow. The KKK were Sara and Mable and then the Housewives, Brittanica was Lady Godiva, Lady Liberty was Americana, The Russian was Ninotchka, the Fortune Cookie was Little Fiji or Spanish Red, the black girls were the Soul Patrol and the bigger girl was of course Mt. Fiji. Surprised a Matilda character didn't make the cut, but the Viking was close. The GLOW netflix show was much better than I expected. I expected some comedy mockumentary making fun of pro wrestling and it wasn't that. They represented the girls better than GLOW ever did and they represented wrestling well. I didn't feel embarrassed. I think they very likely went into a lot of the struggles the GLOW girls had to go through and I think they helped people understand what wrestling is all about. I wouldn't be ashamed to show this to people and I think it could lead to people getting into wrestling. All in all, this was really well done and I'm proud of what they did. Netflix really hit it out of the park here, though I didn't appreciate the anti-republican sentiment, especially with Netflix's history. They also clearly left the door open to a second season and I think there's tons of stuff they could do with it. Here's some storylines I would do in a second season: - Someone gets injured bad - Non-glow girl wrestlers get angry at what they are doing and take stand. - One of the girls gets angry for some reason and exposes GLOW's fakeness to the media - Something goes too far and they get kicked off air - More trouble with sponsors and money - A Vince knockoff starts poaching the GLOW girls - Say Lady Liberty starts refusing to do jobs And there's really a ton more things you could get into, so this show does have legs. You could even do a last season where people start to get old and move onto their normal lives and can't due to wrestling mileage and other stuff, which would really take the show into a new territory. It's also sad that the writers and Netflix seem to understand what pro wrestling is better than anyone else in wrestling right now. Wrestling is so simple and yet everyone has to complicate it and be as bland as possible in the process. -

I've argued Dave on a lot of this stuff and I'm almost willing to bet these are going to be his replies: - Wrestling has changed - Nothing draws anymore and you can't measure how well something is drawing anyway - He'll bring up various angles/gimmicks/wrestlers from the past that sucked
