Justin Roberts need to stop with that “Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaan” shit. He did that for Cena, he needs to leave that shit in WWE.
-
Yeah, that was really good stuff. JR has been off more than he’s been on, but he was right about this match. They need to get both of them signed pronto.
-
Holy shit! Bravo.

Darby would literally die in that match.

Who is that lawyer? He looks familiar.

Can I please have permission to use the phrase "broadcasting the garbage in their souls to the world", @NintendoLogic ? I love it.

McAfee has been training with Rip Rogers for a few years now. That’s probably why he looked so good.

I’m not the biggest MJF fan but saying he “just plays a part on television” is just plain wrong. There are numerous videos out there of the guy being a total dick to fans and kids and talking shit to other wrestlers in appearances, on social media, etc. Say what you will about the guy’s stuff on tv (like I said, I’m not the biggest fan), but he is definitely committed to being a heel 24/7.

WWE TV 08/10 - 08/16 Rollins is basically HHH's heir to the throne, isn't he?

They'd have to sign Britt Baker first. -

Priest is the “Archer of Infamy”. I mean, isn’t that obvious? He shoots arrows (accurately, I would assume) infamously. Or maybe he shoots arrows at the idea of infamy? Does that sound right? Or he could be an archer who works for infamy? Its very clear. You guys need to stop acting like it’s not a great gimmick. -

Joe didn't help because he was afraid he'd get fired, right? Remember all those times Stone Cold didn't interfere with McMahon's evil plots because he might get in trouble? For as much as they have their heads stuck in the Attitude Era, they sure don't realize what made people love Austin and Rock. Those dudes didn't give a fuck about authority. God, how many times in the last couple years have they ran an angle where the babyface is afraid they'll get in trouble if they do something? -

@DMJ, I was telling a friend recently that WWE should be leaning into history more. They should play up the history between wrestlers. Avengers: Endgame is like the biggest movie of all time and it largely assumed that its viewers had at least a passing knowledge of 20+ movies that had come before it. But WWE assumes its viewers are goldfish who forget what they see after each week ends. -

They have it all so backwards. Can you imagine today's amazing in-ring performers combined with actual good storylines that go somewhere? It'd be the best wrestling ever. Instead, it's shitty, sub-b-movie level stories and acting. -

I started a new thread on Mitch. He deserves a working thread! -
Didn't realize quotation marks were a no-no in thread titles. I want to start a new one on Mitch, because I think he deserves discussing. Here's what I wrote in that first topic: I met Mitch a few times. He started up a promotion in southern Indiana promoting it as old school wrestling. I was working in news and talked my station into letting me do a story on it. He was so friendly and accommodating to me. Years later, we decide to have our living room painted. Someone at my wife’s job recommends a painter. He shows up for the estimate, and it’s Mitch! He seemed to be doing well with his painting business. I got to talk wrestling with him while he worked. The best part of him being at my house was how sweet he was to my daughter. She was really into NXT at that time and she thought Samoa Joe was the worst villain ever. She asked Mitch if he’d ever wrestled Joe. He broke right into his promo voice and said, “No darlin’, but If I ever do, I’ll whoop him real good for you!” She loved it. RIP Mitch.

When did Bischoff turn into Ray Wise?

Could Retribution be guys that were cut earlier this year?

It just occurred to me that we now have the possibility of a Kingston/Dustin Rhodes match on national television.

Just curious when that Excalibur clip is from exactly. It seems to be a play on the incident with Michael Richards in 2006 where he yelled the n-word at a comedy club. Excalibur's delivery sounds a lot like what Richards did. Not saying it's ok, but it seems like they were trying to "parody" that incident.

We all know that Bray and Alexa are cool in real life, right? I mean, she filmed a bit that he used to distract Braun in their swamp match. Oh, wait, did she not cooperate in the filming of that? Oh, it was magic that Bray used. Cool. That makes sense.

This is very true. It's also happening in other industries. It seems to come about once a company becomes successful with a certain formula. They then want to stick to that formula whether it works for an individual or not. ESPN is a good example. In it's (arguable) heyday, they had a roster of distinct personalities. Once they became the huge company they are now, they decided on a "standard" for their anchors, and hired new people to fit into those standards. I worked for a struggling local tv station for years. Once we started to become successful, it's like the innovation stopped. Then it became a case of "we do it like this". New reporters and photographers were forced into the mold that the station management had decided on. This was regardless of if their talents fit that mold. I've left the station, but it's still working that way, and they're still doing well.

"This is awesome!" chants?

I agree with this 100%. I'm like a broken record, but Shawn Michaels is the guy that has done the most damage to wrestling (in-ring*) for me. He was the first guy to talk about “stealing the show” and putting on the best match instead of winning championships or beating up a guy you hate. My least favorite wrestling is “let’s have a great match” wrestling. *Backstage, I think the most damaging thing done to wrestling is everyone being “just happy to be there”. Guys used to at least attempt to protect their characters. Now, everyone is so happy to be in WWE, they’ll go along with whatever is handed to them. But that’s another subject.

Listen, I speak only for myself here, but it’s very simple: If you want to “win” the “Wednesday night wars”, be the promotion that puts Eddie Kingston on my tv every week.
