Al Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 The CHIKARA tournament had me thinking. If you were to develop your dream six-man tag tournament. You could use any wrestlers you wanted, any era. Mix and match guys in their primes. Could be either famous pairings or guys who never teamed before. Figure on 16 teams total. Who would you put in?
Guest crimsonjoe Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 My choices: Fabulous Freebirds (Hayes/Gordy/Roberts) Von Erichs (Kevin/Kerry/David) Midnight Express (Eaton/Condrey/Lane) w/ Jim Cornette Horsemen (Flair/Anderson/Blanchard) Dudleys (Bubba/Devon/Spike) Edge/Christian/Kurt Angle Matt Hardy/Jeff Hardy/Greg Helms nWo (Hall/Nash/Hogan) DX (Michaels/Road Dog/Billy Gunn) Hart Express (Bret Hart/Owen Hart/British Bulldog) 2nd City Saints (Punk/Cabana/Ace Steel) Heroes of Wrestling (Hero/Castignoli/Daniel Bryan) Team TNA (AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels/Samoa Joe) Team Hardcore (Terry Funk/Mick Foley/Raven) Colony (Soldier Ant/Fire Ant/Worker Ant) Team WWE (Rock/Cena/HHH)
goodhelmet Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Crimson Joe went conservative but that's fine. I'll go with some teams I think would have worked in any era ... - "Playboy" Buddy Rose, "Loverboy" Dennis Condrey and "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel - Adrian Street, Steven Regal and Billy Robinson - Dick Murdoch, Ron Garvin and Wahoo McDaniel (I could easily see this as being a team in late 1986. Did it ever happen?) - Sgt. Slaughter, John Cena and GI Bro - Bill Dundee, Crusher Blackwell and King Kong Bundy (Can you imagine chickenshit heel Dundee hiding behind these two mountains? I think it would be awesome)
Ricky Jackson Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Circa 1983 card: Dusty Rhodes, Jerry Lawler and Junkyard Dog--Southern babyface superteam Bob Backlund, Jack Brisco and Dory Funk Jr--Scientific babyface superteam Ric Flair, Buddy Rose and Nick Bockwinkel--Scientific heel superteam Roddy Piper, Terry Funk and Randy Savage--Wildman combo Ken Patera, Greg Valentine and Sgt. Slaughter--Three great heels I really like and think would make a good team off the top of my head. Dick the Bruiser, Bobo Brazil and Bruno Sammartino--Babyface legends superteam The Sheik, Killer Kowalski and The Destroyer--Heel legends superteam Antonio Inoki, Mil Mascaras and Andre the Giant--International superteam I'll think about who wins and how the matches played out later.
Dylan Waco Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 The FBI - J.T. JerryvonKramer Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 Trying to thinking of an awesome fat man team consisting of Yokozuna, Haystacks Calhoun and one other. Who else is in that sort of weight bracket though? Andre seems out of place on a team like that.

JerryvonKramer Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I reckon Giant Haystacks was probably bigger than Uncle Elmer.

Who else is in that sort of weight bracket though? Andre seems out of place on a team like that. Nah, I think the third ought to be someone tiny. Waltmann comes to mind.
Kronos Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 I could keep going for a while actually. Wish you would -- those names are cracking me up.
Death From Above Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 The answer to the above Yokozuna query is Yokozuna, Akebono, and Dick Togo as your little dude. Team Oriental Beef.
Loss Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 El-P's favorite team: Nikita Koloff/HHH/Yumiko Hotta
Kronos Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 The answer to the above Yokozuna query is Yokozuna, Akebono, and Dick Togo as your little dude. Team Oriental Beef. Greatest team ever. I would fly to the Chikara tapings to watch those three dudes as a team.

NintendoLogic Posted August 2, 2012 Report Posted August 2, 2012 This would be the perfect spot for the greatest All Japan six-man that never happened: Jumbo/Kawada/Taue vs. Misawa/Kobashi/Akiyama. This never could have happened in the real world, but that's where fantasy booking comes in.
