Loss
Talk about it here.
Loss
Imagine that. Vince backs off after attempting a dumb power play with the cable companies. Viewers Choice will now carry the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania, which is spun as being a result of the WWF fans calling their cable companies to demand it. Talk of patriotism and American values so makes this is fascism wrapped in the flag.
PeteF3
Fantastic effect of Gene Okerlund cutting into All-Japan programming with WWF pay-per-view carriage news.
Kevin Ridge
Way to go fans getting the Rumble on Viewers Choice. Your voices have been heard. Couldn't have done it without you. Call your local cable company to order now. I can remember having to do that back in the day. Now you click a couple buttons your remote. soup23
This seemed like the AMC/Dish Network dispute of 1990.
Cox
Good on you, WWF Universe circa 1990.
JerryvonKramer
This makes me proud to be an American.
Johnny Sorrow
I'm shocked Vince didn't introduce a new Heel Cable Guy character.
Laney
This reminds me of 2001 when there was a dispute with DirecTV so I missed No Mercy and Survivor Series; those were some hard times. Good thing the fans prevented this from happening with their 1990 Royal Rumble.
bradhindsight
The WWF Universe should totally feel empowered. See what happens when you stand up for your rights everyone?
garretta
This is the type of segment Mean Gene was so effective with. They missed him when he left, and from what I remember, he was never quite the same in WCW either.
Johnny Guitar
Got to love WWF spin doctoring.
GSR
There had been some doubt as to whether the Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania would be carried by Viewers Choice, however the fans of the WWF called their local cable systems, demanded they carried it and they listened! Thus proving that in this great country of ours, your voice does make a difference! Gene is such a carny.
Stiva
Man, I should have called Sky in 2000 when our PPVs were broadcast on TV with ad breaks at random points. I remember missing about 3 eliminations in the Royal Rumble.
