Literal interpretations of song lyrics are usually a bad idea for any music video, wrestling or otherwise, but they make it work here. Does that Dundee/Bockwinkel exist in full or nearly full?

Really reached into the vault for this one. Kind of strange song choice also and I couldnt dig it as much as other music videos for it being a generally great video or for the lack of unintentional comedy aspect.

It's not as fast paced and clip heavy as you'd expect out of a Memphis wrestling music video but it's very effective, perhaps because it is so different. Really gives Dundee a working class vibe that probably worked well in both Memphis and Dallas.

I downloaded the song after this. I'm not sure if I like it but have a hard time getting it out my head! I really liked the video with the goofy acting out of the lyrics.

Sort of poignant for a wrestling music video. Most videos of this type are up-tempo, with lots of action and smiling. This works, though, because it presents Dundee as a down-to-earth guy, unlike Lawler and his crowd. Impressive use of archival footage as well; I was pleasantly surprised to see Jimmy Hart and the Moondogs as part of a USWA video in 1990. Pity that they cut it off in the middle, coincidentally (I think) right after the lyrics "We pulled out of Charlotte.........", which was still WCW territory.

A Bill Dundee music video set to Gypsies on Parade by Sawyer Brown. How old is this? The footage is from the 70s up to 1983/4, as there are clips of Dundee against Phil Hickerson, Nick Bockwinkel and getting beaten up by the Moondogs in the studio. Different pace to this as you see Dundee driving down the highway, alone in a diner and using a payphone. Doesnt give the image that being a wrestler and life on the road is a glamorous one. It's almost as though he's retiring and this is goodbye.

I was pretty impressed by this. Cheese is expected in your wrestling music videos, so that didn't throw me. Dundee as the working-class, blue collar guy is the right play and definitely gets across here.

  • GSR changed the title to [1990-02-17-USWA-Championship Sports] Music Video: Bill Dundee
