Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Ric Flair Paul Orndorff and Jimmy Hart are all scheduled for RAW Monday to "celebrate" Hogan's birthday. What heel interrupts and gets cake thrown at them?

very strange to have this on the go home show for the 2nd biggest PPV/event of the year

This SummerSlam build-up is a complete catastrophe. Not just in the ratings but in Steph/Brie "main eventing" RAW twice, Brock & Cena not being there & the mid-card matches meaning less than nothing. I don't know if it's just a case of the WWE Network making WWE feel like they don't have to try real hard or something, since people will see it & already have it anyway & it's $10 now instead of $50 but it just seems so lackluster. And now, next week, we're getting a Hogan celebration with a bunch of old farts instead of more SummerSlam build? I mean, they don't exactly have a lot of time & it feels like they've already wasted two weeks...

Even though I have WWE Network, I don't care about this show at all. I want to see Cena/Lesnar 2, but there's like no build so it's all because I know what they're capable of due to their résumés, not because I'm drawn into the story.

Alvarez also said that Hunter might be the special ref in Steph/Brie which would foreshadow some Bryan involvement but he can't take bumps so I have no idea. Also the plan is for Nikki to turn heel eventually. So it seems this program will not be over at the PPV

Wade Keller has been saying that this angle would be better if Stephanie were still playing the cowardly role and she made it clear wrestling Brie is something she absolutely doesn't want to do. I agree with him. This "badass, unafraid of anything" Stephanie is such a turn-off.

Watching Heyman on the MMA Hour, where he says he feels sorry for Cesaro, I think WWE would be smart to go this route:

-Lesnar beats Cena

-Lesnar/Heyman/Cesaro promo on Raw to celebrate (possibly after a Lesnar/Cena rematch)

-Heyman goes overboard praising Lesnar, causing Cesaro to get mad. After some back-and-forth, Cesaro pops Heyman, puts Lesnar on his ass, and ducks out of the ring

-Lesnar/Cesaro feud over the fall

Heyman would certainly be game to get Cesaro over. Meanwhile, Reigns fights the likes of Rollins and Orton to get ready for winning the Rumble. So the Cesaro push doesn't force them to stop the Reigns push. But then I'm sure WWE would be afraid of Cenaro getting too over and the crowd turning on Reigns... which is exactly the sort of half-hearted CYA booking that hurts the company as much as anything.

So if all accounts have Bryan returning around the Rumble, what's going to keep Reigns from becoming Batista 2.0 and getting booed out of the building for winning?

That's a fantastic question.

It would not surprise me in the least for it to happen again and for WWE to be blindsided by it again.

Not that I'm advocating this, but if they really want Reigns to get over, maybe they should consider holding off Bryan's return until after Wrestlemania, even if he's ready before then.

I doubt they'll listen to the crowd if they turn on a Reigns super-push. They changed course last mania season, and now the guy everyone wanted on top is gone indefinitely and the guy they wanted to put the belt on just became a bona fide movie star overnight. They're going to be insistent that they know better, at least for a while.

Reigns is not ready to be 'the guy' and is absolutely not going to be ready by Wrestlemania.

If Bryan is able to return before Westlemania then they would be absolute fucking idiots to not go all-in with Bryan as long as they can. He's still the most over guy in the company without even being on TV.

IMO if both guys are healthy, the WM main event should be Bryan/Brock, no question about it. I would save the Reigns/HHH match for WM and THEN start the Reigns push if they insist. Maybe have HHH cost Reigns the Rumble victory to set up that WM match. Or if they are that eager to do Reigns/HHH before WM, then maybe run Reigns/Cena at WM (although I think that would only serve to expose Reigns tbh)

I don't think Reigns/Cena would expose Roman. Cena's a great worker and I think would get a good match out of him. I think it's a little premature to think that the fans would give Reigns the Batista treatment if he wins the Rumble after Bryan returns on the same show. As of right now, I think Roman is more universally liked than Batista was when he returned and I don't think Bryan is quite as over as he was at the Rumble if only because he hasn't been on TV and won't be for another five months.

If Reigns' popularity starts to decline before the Rumble, then I could see WWE having a problem on their hands. But I think Roman as a single star is still 'new' enough that the fans won't boo him out of the building.

Jim Ross stated that he heard that WWE may start taping Smackdown at the RAW tapings. With the rumor that the show is moving to Thursday something is going down related to the cuts

This seems phenomenally stupid.

Three-plus hours of live Raw is preceded by 45-60 minutes of dark matches and Superstars tapings. Immediately following that you're going to tape another 90 minutes worth of action with the same wrestlers? Those crowds will be burned out or start leaving. Didn't something similar happen when WCW began filming Nitro and Thunder on the same night?

Or will WWE only tape maybe 60 minutes of in-ring action and fill the rest of the show with Raw recaps and promos?

I've noticed the opening pyro for the TV shows has been missing. Does this mean that WrestleMania's production next year will look like it did in 1997?

The Main Event match between Swagger and ADR is mostly unremarkable, but the opening promo duel that got them there seems like a weird misstep.

It's like somebody realized that they were running a show close to the border, so they pencilled in a (surprisingly effective) babyface promo segment for ADR, set up Swagger & Zeb in opposition...then remembered at the 11th hour that Swagger & Zeb are working as faces against Rusev right now.

Re: Mainevent

I feel bad for ADR. 4 time WHC and the winner of the biggest RR in the history of WWE comes down to the ring to OPEN Main Event. Not only that but the crowd couldn't have given two shits. Its like Zack Ryder was announced or something?

The Swagger/ADR stuff was confusing at first glance but made sense. Swagger never actually turned face. He is just a de-facto face in his feud with Russev. The guy is still a heel and him and Zeb have their own agenta. They do not like people from other countries. Plain and simple. Sometimes the fans will agree (Russev) and sometimes the fans will disagree (ADR), but Team Zeb's message is unwavering. Swagger is the only guy in WWE who can be a heel and get massive face heat and then the following night continue to do the SAME routine and get massive amounts of boos. An interesting dynamic.

Actually, here's one further: a former world title match at Wrestlemania is main eventing the C show. Sure, it was for the secondary show's world title, but that same title had main evented over the WWE title a few times at WM too..
