KrisZ
I think every member of the NWA should work together especially the Canadian promotions......as they have a special place in the hierarchy. Word is already getting around among our friends at TBS that there is a possible 24 hour sports channel ala ESPN here being talked about in Canada in the next year so with our connections in the industry we can help get a block of wrestling on the new channel. goodhelmet
Upon further review, that evidence is inadmissible based upon the fact that the Battle of Atlanta takes place after July, 1st 1983. I was wondering when somebody was going to notice But think about it... no footage 32 years later... all because of the lack of foresight from the Georgia office Starrcade #1.... pristine HD. KrisZ
One thing about this potential big show that JCP is putting on is that it would take place on Thanksgiving night thus competing against every promotion in the NWA which means if you send talent for said show you are taking away from your own promotion on one of the biggest nights a year. That's why when GCW plans nationally televised NWA specials they will not take place on traditional holidays.
goodhelmet
So.... Georgia is opposed to the big closed circuit event that could generate hundreds of thousands in revenue... maybe even reach 1 million dollars. Instead, you would like to give away main events for free across the nation killing box office?

Except for the fact that promotions sending talent to the show will also be able to show the supercard at their arenas through the power of closed circuit. Fans will not only be able to see the best their local talent has to offer, but every other major star that participates as well. In fact, promoters may even be able to charge the audience more for the opportunity to see so much more than usual. Jim Crockett is proud to be forward thinking and keeps the best interests of his fellow promoters in mind when he makes any decision. KrisZ
Free TV allows everyone not just a select few to sample what talent the NWA has to offer plus we will come to all of the major towns. Our former leader Sam Muchnick called Atlanta "wrestling's leading city" before he retired and we will continue to lead in the future with help from all of our friends. LowBlowPodcast
My question would be, is your free television show in which you showcase talent a GCW production or an NWA production? I know the potential joint show is an NWA show and has less to do with JCP but more to do with the entire organization that is the NWA. KrisZ
My 2 hour block every Saturday night and 1 hour block every Sunday night is open for any NWA promotion's talent to compete on.......we have an open door policy. GCW has plenty of television to showcase our talent between our valued TBS slots we also have our specialized local television on WRBL in Columbus and WMAZ in Macon every Saturday afternoon. Our huge ratings on TBS are highly valued by Ted Turner and he wants to feature more wrestling on his station thus allowing us to have big live arena shows every so often. LowBlowPodcast
Should we set a deadline on when voting closes? Like grimmas said... There's three days to go before shows so some things need to get in place.
El Boricua
I'm still undecided on who to vote for, but a deadline should definitely be set.
Grimmas
Monday when Raw starts as a deadline for undecided voters? Also to sway any voters that might change their mind.
El Boricua
The Capitol Sports Promotions delegation would like to say that it holds all three candidates in high regard and respects their track records. As of this moment, we are still undecided as to which candidate to support. Two of the esteemed candidates offer the potential for national exposure via TV time on their nationally available programs. This is a benefit with huge potential for the NWA members, but the peculiarities of our Puerto Rico market limit how useful this opportunity is for us at the moment. The third candidate (together with three other esteemed members, including one of the other candidates for President) has organized a super show event for Thanksgiving to be shown via closed circuit. Outside of potentially providing some of out talent to appear on this show (which we gladly will do for this and any other NWA sanctioned event such as the TBS special the candidate from Georgia has mentioned), we are unclear as to what the benefits of this event will be for the NWA as an organization. We would like to request, if possible, some more clarity about what the potential plans each candidate has in order to vote with a clear head and with the best interests of the NWA in mind. Beast
Don't know what more to say. I saw the presidency as overseeing the NWA and helping with mediation, talent exchanges, making decisions, and more. If it comes down mainly to who can give the NWA more national exposure, that's a different story. I repeat, territories with national television outlets should welcome other territory stars exposure on their shows regardless of whether or not their owner becomes president. As for the closed circuit show coming up, I foresee it as being just as important to the future of wrestling, if not more so than national television. Closed circuit is just the beginning of making the biggest and best shows available to all fans nationwide. If you are a fan in Greensboro who catches Puerto Rican stars on Georgia TBS television and become enamored, that's great, but what are the chances that you'll be willing to fly to San Juan to catch WWC's next big show? Very sparse. With closed-circut, fans would have the opportunity to watch a WWC or Florida show without ever leaving their home state, bringing in additional money to NWA promotions. The one being planned for November involves 5 or more promotions each providing talent to a singular supercard, but the show will also be shown in each promotion's home arena, allowing promoters to also put on 3-4 additional matches showcasing only the hometown talent. I'm also looking into Pay-Per-View within the next 2-3 years. Boxing has had a fair measure of success and it's important that wrestling not get left behind. It's the next logical step past closed circuit, with fans being able to watch a show without leaving their actual home and would open up more opportunities for everyone. Again, more exposure, more money. I have also been in talks with Bill Apter of the PWI family of magazines about producing VHS tapes, possibly starting with this upcoming November event. goodhelmet
That is an important question.... if Geigel or Jones & Ward do not become President, will they withhold TV time from other NWA members? If so, they are holding the Presidency hostage with vague promises of national exposure. If they will not withhold TV time, then it is not an advantage for the Presidency to have a national cable slot.
KrisZ
President or not it doesn't matter.......I know my territory would love to have cooperation with the others and use the valuable television we have to help the others draw even more of an audience. We would love to use our TV time to showcase the other territories with film from their arenas if possible plus with our future live specials which as I said earlier will not only just come from the Omni but will go to other markets as well to spotlight their talent. Like I said we have an open door policy....we always have and always will....look at our track record for bringing in talent from around the other territories for successful big shows. WTBS isn't just the home of Georgia Championship Wrestling.......it's the home of the National Wrestling Alliance.
dedhemingway
Bob Geigel has only the best intentions for the entire Alliance.
El Boricua
We admire and respect all three candidates and would like to propose that whichever two candidates do not obtain election be nominated two the two vice-presidency posts. Our decision was made after careful consideration. While we are very excited about the proposed closed circuit Thanksgiving show and of the potential impact it may have (we would like to show our support for this venture by offering to send a showcase match for the card), we would like to see the end results of this endeavor in order to validate that this will result in the benefits that have been mentioned. goc
Everyone has now voted and it's a tie. I suppose it should go to a runoff and the 3 Geigel voters will end up deciding the President.
dawho5
From the desk of Frank Valois: The International Wrestling Association has chosen to vote for the representative of Georgia Championship Wrestling. The senior booking staff feels that his views of the Canadian wrestling landscape mirror their own. We appreciate that Mr. Geigel was the steward of the NWA during an era of prosperity. Mr. Crockett represented himself and his promotion well and we feel that he would make an excellent Vice President. We plan to watch Mr. Crockett's experiments involving closed circuit and pay-per-view, and hope that these may one day be ways for pro wrestling to be enjoyed by fans who cannot experience it live.. This is not, however, something that is of great concern to us at this time. As such, we felt that our vote should go to Mr. Ward. This is in no way a condemnation of Mr. Crockett or Mr. Geigel, simply the choice we thought was best for the International Wrestling Association and Canada in general..
