I'm digging all the tag action myself, but I have to think that Georgia and Southeastern have the 1 and 2 tag divisions as far as name value and actual tag matches being produced. I tend to save a lot of the marquee matchups (face vs. heel ones anyway) in 2 on 2 action for the big shows and run a lot of 6 mans.

SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV

Saturday 20th August 1983

Logo.jpg?noCache=1436481763

Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTVY Television Studio in Dothan, AL

Hosted by Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart

Before we go to the studio we are shown clips of Ron Fuller returning to the Alabama area and helping his brother Robert Fuller and cousin Jimmy Golden defeat Johnny Rich & Larry Hamilton. The opening credits roll we pan into Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart sitting at the announcer’s desk. They describe how they are never shocked by the antics of the Fuller and Golden family. At this point all three men come to the announcers table, Ron tells Charlie Platt that the Tennessee Stud has returned and with that comes the return of the Studd Stable with himself, his brother Robert and his cousin Jimmy Golden and they will be taking over Southeastern like the Fuller family has done for years gone by. Charlie Platt replies to these statements and highlights he’s know the Fuller family for many years but he thinks that they may have their work cut out in Southeastern with all the great talent in Alabama at the moment.

=== Advert ===

The Studd Stable of Robert and Ron Fuller and Jimmy Golden defeat The Young Dragons, Shunji Kosugi and Kazuo Yamazaki and Mike Jackson in 5 minutes when Jimmy Golden puts away Mike Jackson with a Piledriver. The result never looked in any doubt as the Studd Stable were in control from the first minute to the last.

=== Advert ===

We return from the break with two relativity new teams in Southeastern, in one corner we have Bobby Eaton and Tom Pritchard and in the opposite corner the team of Vinnie Valentino and Javier Cruz the Latin Lovers making their TV debut. A very competitive match to start off with but Eaton and Pritchard slowly start to isolate Valentino in the corner away from his partner in his home corner and punish him with a lot of double team moves. Valentino finally makes the tag but Eaton and Pritchard have too much momentum and get the win following the Alabama Jam on Cruz at 7 minutes for the victory for the new team of Pritchard and Eaton.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton defeat Tony Falk and Norman Frederick Charles III in 4 minutes following a flying cross body from Rich on Falk followed by the pinful. After the match Rich and Hamilton come to the announcer’s desk and challenge the Studd Stable to one last match to end their feud. The Studd Stable come out and say they accept will chuckling to themselves, Ron says they can even choose the 2 men they want to face, Rich interrupts and says they want all 3 and they have a 3rd partner to make it a 6 man tag match. Jimmy Golden says to Ron Fuller it’ll be their friend Art Crews who he beat 3 weeks ago and their pretty tight and they should accept as it won’t be an issue. Ron accepts the challenge on behalf of the Studd Stable and they leave. Charlie Platt says it’s going to be great contest on Monday when the Studd Stable take on Johnny Rich, Larry Hamilton and Art Crews, Larry Hamilton interrupts and says that unfortunately The Studd Stable might of got a head of themselves a little as Art Crews is on a week long tour of Mexico and isn’t about this week in Southeastern, Platt looking puzzled, “who is it then?”, Rich jumps in, “The Fullers aren’t the only family around here”.

New Southeastern Tag Team Champions Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson with new manager Jim Cornette face off with stable mates of the team they beat last week to win the Tag Team Titles The Assassins, United States Junior Champion “Professor” Bill Ash and The Moondog along with as ever Paul Jones. In a very back and forth match, the tag champions get the victory following Tim Horner hitting a sunset flip on Bill Ash with the assistants of a drop kick from Gibson for the 3 count at 12 minutes. At the bell the former champions The Assassins storm the ring and attack the champions and beat them down along with Paul Jones giving Cornette a slap.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

We are back with Paul Jones Army at the announcer’s desk, Paul Jones says that this Monday he will be exercising his team right to a rematch for their Tag Team Titles this Monday in Birmingham. Paul Jones promise that Horner and Gibson will not be walking out Monday night with the titles he can promise that.

=== Advert ===

We return to the announcer’s desk with former Southeastern Heavyweight Champion “Bullet” Bob Armstrong. As per the announcement two weeks ago, only one of Bob Armstrong or Dutch Mantell can be in attendance for TV a week due to the bad blood between the two. Armstrong says that last week he was unlucky but he beat Dutch and he knows he can do it this week, he has cleared it with the championship committee that he will get another shot this week following his count out victory over Dutch last week. Bob says that he would like to introduce someone to the great fans of Southeastern, he calls someone over. He introduces a young trainee wrestler, TV station employee and more importantly one of “Bullet” son’s Scott. Bob goes on to say that Scott has been training really hard with Brad and himself and one day hopes to become a professional wrestler, but for the time being he is happy working for WTVY. “Bullet” Bob tells Scot he should get on with his work as he has a match to contend with. “Bullet” Bob Armstrong defeats Ted Allen in 6 minutes following a Jaw Breaker and the pin. Both Platt and Stewart say how ready Armstrong looks going into his match with “Dirty “ Dutch Mantell, and they think he will be bringing the title home.

Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTVY Television Studio in Dothan, AL

Hosted by Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart

We open the show this week with a video highlights package of “Wildfire” Tommy Rich returning to the area to help his cousin Johnny Rich in his recent war with The Studd Stable. We see clips of Tommy Rich making his way through the crowd and up onto the apron and getting the victory for his team. The credits roll and we join as ever Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart in the studio for another week of wrestling action. Platt and Stewart run through this week’s action, where we will see the Southeastern Tag Team Champions in action against The Masked Medic’s, The Assassins will be in action up against The Latin Lovers, we also have the returning “Wildfire” Tommy Rich in action tagging with Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton and “Dirty” Dutch Mantell will also be here.

=== Advert ===

First up we have The Assassins joined by Paul Jones up against the new team of The Latin Lovers (Javier Cruz & Vinnie Valentino). The Assassins who are in the midst of trying to win back their titles from Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson. Back to the action, a very even contest with both teams getting in a fair amount of offence, the match could go either way until Paul Jones passes The Assassin #1 something and he uses it to club Cruz over the head and then cover him for the 3 count after 6 minutes. The Assassins and Paul Jones celebrate as Valentino and Cruz try and work out what happened. The Assassins and Paul Jones join Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart where they describe that this week in Birmingham they will win their tag title back and put to rest this feud.

=== Advert ===

Next up we have Bobby Eaton who is joined by his tag team partner Tom Pritchard as he takes on Mike Jackson. Eaton and Pritchard have had some impressive showings as a tag team in recent weeks. Today is no different with Eaton in singles action as he makes light work of Jackson when he hits his Alabama Jam to finish of Jackson in 4 minutes. Pritchard congratulates his partner as the walk to the back.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

We return from the break where Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who are joined by “Wildfire” Tommy Rich, Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton. Tommy says it’s great to be here in Alabama and he apologises to Johnny and Larry for running late on Monday but he had car troubles. He goes on to say he’s been wrestling all-round the country and when he got the call to help his cousin he finished up his dates and made his way to Alabama and now he’s here to stay. And once he settles these issues with The Studd Stable he will be focusing on bringing the NWA World Title to Alabama and regaining the title he once held. Now to the action, Tommy & Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton take on the team of The Moondog & “Professor” Bill Ash with Paul Jones and Ted Allen. The match goes about 4 minutes before The Studd Stable storm the ring and a 3-on-3 brawl between the Rich’s and Hamilton and The Studd Stable breaks out. The brawls only last a few minutes before the both locker rooms empty and split the 6 men up.

=== Advert ===

Southeastern Tag Team Champions Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson with manager Jim Cornette go up against The Masked Medic’s. During the match Jim Cornette is very excitable and vocal on the outside of the ring in his support of his team Ricky Gibson and Tim Horner, at one point Horner even has to turn and tell Cornette to calm down or his give himself a heart attack the way he’s going on. Horner and Gibson pick up the win in 4 minutes when they hit a Double Dropkick on Medic #1 followed by the pin. After the match the champions and Cornette join Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart where they have a message for The Assassins, the message is they have little chance this week in Birmingham in regaining their titles, at this point Jim Cornette jumps in and and gives his 5 cents only for Gibson and Horner to calm him down and the champs leave.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

We return with highlights from this week’s Southeastern Heavyweight Title match in Birmingham from Monday night and Southeastern Champion Dutch Mantell at the announcer’s desk. Dutch says he accepts “Bullet” Bob’s challenge to a street fight this week, but there will be no running for Armstrong and he will have to take the beating he deserves. With this Dutch makes his way to the ring.

=== Advert ===

We’re back with “Dirty” Dutch Mantell and Josh Stroud in the ring for today’s main event. The match goes for about 5 minutes, 4 minutes more than it needed too only for Mantell to spend a lot of time just toying with Stroud before finally putting him away with a Shoulder Breaker and the pinful. We go back to Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who run though todays results and this Mondays card in Birmingham, when we see Dutch Mantell dragging a member of the TV studio crew into the ring, Platt and Stewart are trying to work out what is going on, it soon comes apparent that Dutch has Scott Armstrong who is a WTVY studio employee but more importantly is Bob Armstrong’s son. Dutch asks if Scott wants to be a professional wrestler like his dad. Scott nods but struggles as Dutch is still holding him by the hair. Dutch goes on to say that Scott’s dad Bob isn’t a legend, but is a coward. He’d happily take Scott under his wing if he wanted to have a champion as a role model rather than a loser. Scott who is visible scared agrees just so Dutch will let go, Dutch does let go while Scott checks over himself. Mantell then goes on to say he’d be ashamed to call Scott and Brad his sons and clothes lines Scott who goes straight to the ground. As medical staff run out to check on Scott, Dutch leaves the ring.
