Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTVY Television Studio in Dothan, AL

Hosted by Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart

Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart welcome the studio audience and fans watching at home to another great week of Southeastern Championship Wrestling live from the WTVY Studio’s in Dothan Alabama. This week we will see Tag Team Champions The Assassins in Action, Bobby Eaton will be here, The new team of Tim Horner & Ricky Gibson will be in action, we will also see clips from this past weeks big Birmingham show where Bob Armstrong went one on one with NWA World Champion Harley Race.

=== Advert ===

The opening contest sees the Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins with Paul Jones defeat Art Crews & Larry Hamilton in 6 minutes with a big double splash to Larry Hamilton followed by the pinful. The Assassins continue their assault after the bell only for Johnny Rich to rush to the ring to help his friends out and the Assassins back off, as the damage is done. While Johnny Rich sees to his friends, The Assassins and Paul Jones join Jim Cornette for an interview. On more than one occasion Paul Jones has shown he has little respect for Jim Cornette, and this week is no different once again offering him a job within the Army, Jim politely declines as he doesn’t agree with Jones tactics and walks off. Paul Jones tells Cornette he won’t get anywhere with his nice attitude in the wrestling business. Jones addresses the need to keep expanding his army and introduces his newest acquisition The Moondog. The Moondog is close to 300 pounds and comes out holding a bone which he is chewing on. Jones states along with Bill Ash, who is away on international business this week, Jones Army is growing by the day.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

The Moondog with Paul Jones defeats Mike Jackson in 2 minutes in an absolutely dominate performance. After the match The Moondog continues his attack on Jackson, beating him down with his bone he was chewing on before the match.

=== Advert ===

Bobby Eaton defeats Josh Stroud in 5 minutes in a fast paced match where Eatons class shone through and he got the win with a Top Rope Leg Drop followed by the pin.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

We are back at the announcers desk with Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who run through highlights from the NWA World Title match from this past week in Birmingham Alabama. After the clips are shown Brad Armstrong comes out, says his father isn’t here this week but would like to thanks everyone for they support this past week in Birmingham. Brad moves on to talk about his victory over Dutch Mantell this past Monday, at this point Dutch comes to the announcers table and challenges Armstrong to a rematch this week, Brad accepts, at this point Dutch just attacks the young Brad Armstrong and slams his head onto the announcers table and a brawl breaks out between the two, until the locker room empties to split the two up. Both Brad and Dutch continue to try and get to one another, but the locker room seems to be able to keep the two apart. This feud is heating up.

=== Advert ===

Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson who have been on abit of a roll lately at live events defeat Ted Allen & Tony Falk in 5 minutes with a Double Drop Kick. After the match Gibson and Horner celebrate with Jim Cornette while being interviewed. They talk about being ready as a team and ask for a Tag Title match. Paul Jones comes out with The Moondog in toe and says that they have a long way to go before they can get a title match. Jim Cornette then interrupts and says he’s spoke with the board of directors and if Horner can defeat The Moondog and Gibson can defeat Bill Ash next in week in singles action they will get a title shot in 2 weeks time live on television. The studio goes wild Paul Jones is furious and tries to get to Jim Cornette but Horner and Gibson block him and he backs off. Finally Cornette gets one over on Jones for weeks and weeks of it being the other way.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

We return with Johnny Rich, Art Crews and Larry Hamilton standing with Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart with the $500 Art Crews won last week. They tell Platt and Stewart that Art Crews will kindly be donating this money to the Dothan Children’s Hospital. Jimmy Golden comes out and says that he was cheated last week and wants a chance to win his money back. Crews, Rich and Hamilton laugh off his challenge, Golden then pulls out $1000 dollars and says that they can triple their money. Rich, Crews and Hamilton converse between one another and decide that the only way the match is happening is if Crews and Hamilton, who have already wrestled today, stay at ringside to make sure no foul play happens like in previous weeks. Golden okays this and we are on for Johnny Rich vs Jimmy Golden.

=== Advert ===

Johnny Rich starts the match like a house of fire, he has come on leaps and bounds in the last few weeks, Rich really has Golden on the back foot. As the match progresses it looks more and more likely that Rich will actually get the win here. After ten minutes all of a sudden the Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins come out to ring side and continue their brawl with Hamilton and Crews from earlier today. The referee drops to the floor to break up the fight, as this happens Jimmy Golden sees an opportunity to take an unfair advantage and takes a pair of brass knux out of his trunks, when out of nowhere a masked man appears in the ring and steps between Rich and Golden. There is a three way standoff in the ring when the masked man turns an hits a low kick to the gut of Johnny Rich and puts him in the Piledriver position as Golden comes of the second rope to add the spike and covers Rich. The masked man returns to the back area from where he came from and the referee returns to the ring after getting Crews, Hamilton and The Assassins to the back, to make the 3 count and Golden wins back his $500 and celebrates like he won the World Title. Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart say it’s pretty obvious who the masked man was, and they will find out the answers next week.

=== Show Ends ===

I forgot how awesome your roster is. I'm really digging these. Mantel vs Armstrong feud is money!

I really tried to stagger so many debuts and thats why my opening weeks were a lot weaker in terms of roster quality, than what i will be putting out in 6-8 weeks time. I have some big debuts still to come, but you wont really see my whole roster together for a while yet.

Before the opening credits roll we see clips from this weeks big Birmingham show where the Masked Man from last weeks show reveals himself to be none other than Robert Fuller in a match between Jimmy Golden and Johnny Rich. We pan to Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart at the announcers desk, they talk about how they should of known that the masked man was Robert Fuller all along. They tell the audience that they have some shocking footage to show the fans later on in the show which will explain why Dutch Mantell and Bob Armstrong will be alternating weeks appearing on television. Also today we will see Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton go 2-on-2 with the Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins, Tim Horner will go against newcomer The Moondog and Ricky Gibson will go against Bill Ash and if both Horner and Gibson win they will receive a title match next week here on TV. Tom Pritchard will be action and Art Crews and Josh Stroud will be in action after the break.

When return from the break to Southeastern Heavyweight Champion “Bullet” Bob Armstrong sitting with Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart. Before they get started Platt asks Bob how Brad is holding up, Bob replies by telling Platt and the fans that Brad will be taking some time off to heal up after Monday night. At this point we are shown the footage from Monday night in Birmingham when Dutch Mantell went a step too far and beat Brad Armstrong to a bloody pulp in the ring while tied up in the ropes. Bob in a softy spoken voice which adds to the drama, “Dutch, you crossed the line this pass Monday, you went too far. Well this Monday coming in the same ring, in the same arena, in the same town, I will give you want you want, I will put this Southeastern Title on the line but in exchange I get you. There’s a helluva beating coming your way Monday.”

Next up is Tim Horner against The Moondog joined by Paul Jones, earlier on Ricky Gibson got a surprise victory over United States Junior Champion Bill Ash when he got a quick inside cradle on Ash. If Horner manages to get the victory here, he and Ricky Gibson will get a tag team title match next week against the Assassins. The Moondog has the clear size advantage but Horner will look to use his speed to out do The Moondog. The match progresses for about 6 minutes with both men having equal chances to win the bout, when Paul Jones gets up on the apron just as the tide looks like it’s changing towards Tim Horner. At this point Jim Cornette runs towards the ring and pulls Jones off the apron. As Jones drops to the floor he turn’s and smacks Cornette right across the face and Cornette goes down, as this happens Horner hits a running drop kick to The Moondog and covers him for the 3 count and the win at 7 minutes. Ricky Gibson’s runs out to help Jim Cornette who Paul Jones is laying the boot too on the floor. Jones and Moondog retreat to the back at the sight of Gibson.

Gibson and Horner check over Jim Cornette and celebrate their title match next week, they also ask Jim Cornette if he will be in their corner for their match next week to make sure Paul Jones doesn’t get involved. Jim says he doesn’t know, Gibson and Horner try to convince him, and finally he agrees.

In today’s main event we see the Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins along with their manager Paul Jones face off against the team of Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton. SOUTHEASTERN CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING TV

Saturday 13th August 1983

Logo.jpg?noCache=1436481763

Taped in front of a live studio audience at the WTVY Television Studio in Dothan, AL

Hosted by Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart

After the credits roll we join Charlie Platt and Rick Stewart who welcome all the fans to another week of exciting Southeastern Championship Wrestling action. They run though todays TV matches, which will see “Professor” Bill Ash defend his United States Junior Title against Art Crews, also in action we will see Tom Pritchard teaming up with Bobby Eaton to take on Josh Stroud and Mike Jackson and our main event see’s Tim Horner and Ricky Gibson challenging for the Southeastern Tag Team Titles against the Assassins with Paul Jones.

But before we go to any action we are shown clips of “Dirty” Dutch Mantell winning the Southeastern Heavyweight Title on Monday evening from “Bullet” Bob Armstrong in Birmingham in a bloody violence brawl. At this point we are joined by the new champion Dutch Mantell, who is looking very smug. As mentioned last week, it has been agreed due to the violence stemming from this rivalry Armstrong and Mantell will rotate appearances on TV weekly. Dutch does some trash talking saying that two weeks ago there were 2 Armstrong’s running around here and now thanks to him there’s not one. Charlie Platt informs us that we have a VTR of Bob Armstrong and he has a message for Dutch, Platt asks the truck to run the VTR. In the video filmed from his home sitting with his son’s Scott, Steve and Brian, notable absence is Brad. “Bullet” says his going to be exercising his rematch clause this week and he will be getting his title back. On a side note this is the first time we have seen 3 of 4 of Bob on TV. We go back to the announcer’s desk with Dutch just laughing as he makes his way to the ring.

=== Advert ===

“Dirty” Dutch Mantell defeats Javier Cruz in 3 minutes with a running lariat in a dominate display as he gets ready to face off with "Bullet" Bob for the Southeastern Heavyweight Title rematch.

=== Advert===

Next up we have the relativity new team of Bobby Eaton and Tom Pritchard going up against the team of Josh Stroud and Mike Jackson. Both Eaton and Pritchard are extremely talented young wrestlers, both have been quoted as being future stars in the industry. This maybe just a one week thing or it could be longer but for now Eaton and Pritchard defeat Stroud and Jackson in 5 minutes following a Piledriver from Pritchard on Jackson followed by Eaton coming of the top rope to hit the Alabama Jam on a helpless Jackson before the 3 count. As the referee goes to raise Eaton and Pritchards hands they both push the referee back and raise one another’s hands. On commentary Platt says that Eaton and Pritchard make a great team but a shame about their attitudes.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

“Professor” Bill Ash with Paul Jones and The Moondog in his corner successfully defends his United States Junior Title against Art Crews in 6 minutes when Art Crews submits to a Spinning Toe Hold in a competitive match.

=== Advert ===

Johnny Rich defeats Tony Falk in 4 minutes following a Flying Cross Body. After the match Johnny Rich is joined by Larry Hamilton as they go the announcers desk to talk with Platt and Stewart. They both say they want a rematch with Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden this Monday in Birmingham Alabama because they feel they can go that extra mile and put an end to this issue.

=== Run down of this weeks action in Dothan, Penscola, Birmingham and Mobile ===

Following the break Robert Fuller and Jimmy Golden are in the ring getting ready for the match with the new team all the way from the orient in the form of The Young Dragons, Shunji Kosugi and Kazuo Yamazaki. The Young Dragons who are currently on a 3 week tour from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Unfortunately for the visitors Golden and Fuller are far too strong and experienced for the young team and get put the wayside in just 3 minutes when Fuller hits a running knee lift and pins Kosugi. Following the match Fuller and Golden answer Johnny Rich and Larry Hamilton challenge and say the will grant them their rematch.

=== Advert ===

Today’s main event sees Ricky Gibson and Tim Horner challenging the Southeastern Tag Team Champions The Assassins who as always are joined by Paul Jones. The Assassins have been the tag champs for a few weeks now after defeating Ken Lucas and Eddie Hogan for the titles back in early July. After weeks of disrespect towards Southeastern Interviewer Jim Cornette, he has been asked to be Horner and Gibson’s corner person, after some persuading Jim agreed. Cornette and Jones have had a few issues the past few weeks with Jones pretty much bullying the young Cornette. In a very competitive match where Gibson and Horner are giving it their everything against the much bigger team of The Assassins. In the closing moments of the match Gibson and Horner look like they are going to get the win when, like we have seen many times before, Paul Jones gets involved by jumping up on the apron only for Jim Cornette to run around the ring and pull him down from the apron and starts to (loosely) attack him before Jones takes control and beats Cornette up. Back in the ring Assassin #1 goes over to ropes to see what is happening only for Horner to roll him up and get the 3 count after 8 minutes as the studio audience goes wild. Jones slides into the ring to try and break up the count, but was too late. Gibson and Horner collect their belts and pick Cornette up and celebrate to the back as The Assassins and Jones argue amongst each other as the show ends.

=== Show Ends ===

Quick Results

1. "Dirty" Dutch Mantel defeats Javier Cruz in 3 minutes.

2. Bobby Eaton & Tom Pritchard defeated Josh Stroud & Mike Jackson in 5 minutes.
