The crowd will finally turn Johnny Sorrow heel. He'll embrace it, changing his name to "Mr. Terrific" Johnny Quick and creating the Orange Goblin Digest to crap all over the 10 Things from Raw/Smackdown recaps WWE puts on youtube. It wins a Sheety Award.

Motörhead goes into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Daniel Bryan leaves WWE after a blowup over getting back in the ring and tries to take them to court. Fans are outraged, so in response, Vince decides to give Sami Zayn almost exactly the same push that Bryan got in early '14. It works, fans forget about Bryan.

Rey Mysterio beats Mil Muertes for the LU title then drops it to Pentagon Jr. at Ultimo Lucha 2.

Ricochet will be signed by NXT/WWE.

Bryan will at least begin his split with the WWE so he can wrestle again elsewhere. I'll be a little surprised if he is in the ring by the end of the year. I don't see their split being too messy, but I see it being prolonged.

Styles will beat Nakamura for the IWGP IC title at Wrestle Kingdom and it will steal the show (MOTY). They will have at least 2-3 great matches this year over the title. (I am hoping one of them is at the ROH 14th Anniversary show).

Brock wins the rumble. Reigns beats Brock clean as a sheet at mania.

Sami vs Balor wrestlemania weekend at the NXT show for the title.

Steen outperforms the booking and is a main eventer by the end of the year.

TNA will continue to slowest burnout in wrestling history. Somehow, someway, things will get worse for them but they will still be a company when 2017 rolls in.

WWE will start Reigns on a title run that will eventually exceed Punk's He might lose it once and get it back before that starts, but that reign will start this year.

Cesaro will get really hot at least once as the E looks for opponents for Reigns that can help him maintain momentum as the ace. The WWE will promptly forget about him and he will fall back into the old booking ruts.

Cena and Reigns will have a match of the year candidate at either Summer Slam or Royal Rumble (though they might save it for mania 33).

Itami will be the most important return to NXT this year. He and Joe will tear down the house once or twice.

NXT pursues Styles and Nakamura, but neither will come to terms.

I will become completely obsessed with Progress wrestling this summer.

The New Day face turn is going to be the best thing ever this year.

Big Mike will win the ROH title, drop it to a returning Daniel Bryan by year's end, but will also get a shot at the NJPW IC belt.

Dalton Castle will win the ROH TV Title this year.

Jeff Cobb will be a standout on Lucha Underground.

An NXT match will get a top billing at SummerSlam this year.

Bayley will get a call-up offer but refuse it. Same with Balor.

Zayn will get called up and face off against Kevin Owens after WM. They'll feud throughout the summer.

Cesaro will main event a PPV.

Kota Ibushi will win the IWGP title this year. If not him, Tetsuya Naito.

La Sombra will debut in NXT but won't be long for the main roster.

Rush will sign with NXT, as well.

Atlantis will lose his mask at the Anniversary show.

CM Punk will lose his UFC debut match, quite decisively.

The Young Bucks will finally end up in NXT.

A major singles push will begin for Kalisto.

Miz will quietly wind down down his in-ring career, and become a heel manager.

Before the end of the year, Kevin Owens will be WWE Heavyweight Champion, and Apollo Crews will be NXT champion.

Undertaker will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, and subsequently retire.

Chris Jericho and Mark Henry will both retire, as well.

WWE future endeavorings will include Fandango, Summer Rae, Jack Swagger, Adam Rose, and most surprisingly, Jerry Lawler.

John Cena will retire from full time competition around Summerslam after putting Roman Reigns over. He'll co star in a big time hollywood feature.

Roman Reigns will continue to be booked 50/50 but will eventually win over the crowd and hardly get any boos.

Finn Balor and Sami Zayn will debut on the main roster. Finn will soon turn heel and feud with Dolph Ziggler. Sami will be the number 2 babyface in the company. Bayley will stay in NXT and Becky Lynch will also return to NXT. Asuka and Samoa Joe head to the main roster.

Aj Styles and Bobby Roode sign with NXT. NXT will outdraw Monday Night Raw in some cities and will leave Full Sail.

Undertaker, Big show, Kane, Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler will retire from the wwe.

Smackdown gets canceled sometime in the fall due to low ratings.

TNA stays about the same but strikes a deal with Lucha Undergound. Main event of BFG will be EC3 vs Rey Jr.

AAA will continue to have problems when Konan leaves and takes the Lucha Underground guys with him.

I make my PTBN podcast debut to total indifference.

Nikki/Charlotte/Sasha is the triple threat divas title match at Mania. Nikki wins and transitions to a feud with Sasha as they try to figure out what to do with Charlotte. The Sasha/Nikki feud blows away anything done on the main roster in divas matches for years and transitions to Bayley-Sasha by summer.

Daniel Bryan leaves WWE at the end of the year and Brie leaves with him. Total Divas gets canned with her departure being the last episode.

Undertaker is still planning "one last match" by the of the year.

Roman Reigns throughout all of 2016 with wins over Brock and Cena at major PPV's.

The AFC declines to attend the Super Bowl realizing its pwned by either Carolina or Arizona.

Superman/Batman gets critically panned, poorly received by fans and forces WB to rethink its entire DCU plans.

I think he'll definitely wind down his career this year, and probably have his final match at Mania 33 vs. someone like Sami Zayn or Chad Gable.

In order of significance:

  • A sad one - I have a bad feeling about Hogan this year. Don’t want to be morbid about it, but I’d say dude ends up in the hospital, jail, or worse sometime in 2016.
  • A happy one - wrestling at large is (marginally) hotter a year from now than it is today. WWE in particular has a great year in-ring with several MOTY contenders.
  • Biggest WWE shift of the year: Brock is out of the company by year’s end.
  • Daniel Bryan does not wrestle in 2016.
  • The Authority as a named entity are finished by year’s end, with Steph/Hunter/Vince making fewer appearances and a new GM in place.
  • PWG’s presence in Los Angeles pays off in some kind of unexpected filmed capacity. Maybe a pilot for TV or cameo appearance on a TV series of note, but I’ll guess it’s more something like the filming of a moderately successful documentary.
  • Despite the exodus of Nakamura/Styles/Gallows/Anderson, NJPW still resists pushing new stars. Goto, Shibata, and Ibushi spin their wheels. Naito finally gets his Dome show main event against Okada on 1/4/17. Kyle O’Reilly becomes the next Devitt/Styles-level regular, entering the heavyweight picture.
  • New Day wear out their act and are broken up before year’s end.
  • By year’s end, Biff Busick is the hottest act in NXT, if only because Bailey is finally called up to the main roster, after dropping her title to Emma at NXT: Brooklyn #2 over Summerslam weekend. Emma emerges as something of the Comeback Story of the Year after Dana Brooke’s injury woes continue.
  • TNA hangs on to their POP TV deal for the full year, but are even further below the radar by year’s end than they are now, doing their worst ratings yet and losing a number of key acts to NXT, including but not limited to Bobby Roode and Drew Galloway.
  • Flair has another PR disaster sometime around Wrestlemania weekend and is taken off WWE TV. Charlotte drops the title to Sasha soon after.
  • One of the three Gonzalez brothers - Rush, Mistico, or Dragon Lee - suffers a serious injury that puts them on the shelf for an extended period.
  • WWE Firings: D-Von Dudley, Damien Sandow, Hornswoggle, Sin Cara, Sawyer Fulton, and Viktor. Voluntarily Quits/Leaves: Zack Ryder and the aforementioned Lesnar.
  • Atlantis successfully defends his mask again in another apuestas match.
  • ROH lose their Destination America deal, but remain on Sinclair.
  • Chris Hero wins the GHC title.
  • Enzo and Cass take New Day’s spot and win the main roster tag titles by year’s end.
  • One of the winners of the 2016 Dusty Classic is foreign-born.
