The Man in Blak
My point was that -- and I say this as someone who has co-hosted over 60 shows with Johnny -- is that he's a lot more critical of shows from the 1980s than he is here. Even of shows from the peak of the Crockett era. In Johnny's version of events, the WWE are on a monster run, one of the best of all time, with every show as great as the last. And I'm sorry, but I don't think that even he would take the last year of shows over, let's say, 1986-7 Crockett. He'll be plenty critical of Dusty's booking looking back but still seems blind to the obvious flaws in the current product. I'm not saying he needs to sing from the same hymn sheet as everyone else -- I mean, he's Johnny, he'll be unique no matter what his position -- I'm just wondering about the disparity between Johnny the 80s fan, who I've done lots of shows with and who is able to be critical, and Johnny the 2010s fan, who is all sunshine and rainbows all the time. Something doesn't make sense. It's less about critical discernment and more about optimism vs. (completely justified) pessimism. Everybody knows how the storylines in 1980s WWF played out and, thus, the book is closed and open to critique. With any contemporary product, though, the book is always being written and, thus, there's always a possibility of a turnaround. And Johnny seems to have far more faith in the current WWE booking to turn the ship around than most people. (More than I do, at any rate.) El Boricua
I like that Johnny has a more positive opinion. It provides a needed counterbalance and can be a flash-point for discussion during the show.
Cross Face Chicken Wing
Sometimes if I'm hanging out in the living room and my wife has a few friends over, she'll start talking about me within earshot. I'm like, "Um, hello, I'm right here. Don't mind me or anything. Just carry on and pretend I can't hear you." I imagine that's how Johnny feels right about now. goodhelmet
Dylan is always welcome to do the show. However it moves on with or without him. I wanted to go on about the HHH shit show but I just don't have the heart anymore. I just don't care enough about the current product to get too high or too low. sounds like the show needs a new host It may happen sooner than later. I will probably do Fast Lane and the Mania live reaction. After that... all bets are off.
goodhelmet
All guests are on because I want them to be on. I don't want Johnny to change who he is. I want Kris Z, Pete, Dylan, Bix, Scott, Johnny P and others on because I value their opinion even if I disagree with them.
Parties
Yeah, I agree that it's actually pretty interesting to have someone playing devil's advocate, even if you have to be zonked on Iranian Treats to genuinely enjoy half of what Johnny digs in these PPVs. In solidarity I will say that the Rumble was the first time I had beers during a PPV in ages, and it sure helped that title switch go down smoother. Johnny Sorrow
I was gonna just point out that Parv took my "great show" comment from the ongoing live thread and applied that to the podcast thread. And that's stupid cause if ya listen, I do have more in depth takes on the audio. Don't make me "Happy Days" you again, son.
JerryvonKramer
In fairness, I've listened to it now and yeah that's true.
dgrblue
Will has to get in his "hold ons" and talking over everyone, getting pissy, when call on stuff...classic stuff. Exactly
SteveJRogers
Steen-Styles happened a handful of times, mostly in PWG and only three times in a straight up singles match. http://www.profightdb.com/wrestler_search/kevin-owens-1862.html?opp=752 Oddly enough, the way Owens taunted AJ after the elimination, I thought there was more of a connection, especially in ROH, beyond the Owens character being his usual dick troll self. GSR
On another topic stop Kris needs to stop referring to stuff he 'can't talk about' on the show. Will tries his best to keep listeners informed of the insider jokes that get made all the time, but when he doesn't get the reference and you won't explain it? Man, it just grinds the show to halt and wastes time. Agree fully with this. If you are not prepared to talk about something on the show why bring it up? As a listener it's very infuriating when something is touched on or mentioned (like this thing with Baron Corbin) and then not fully elaborated on or explained. It happens on Between the Sheets too. Exactly If I didnt, the show would go on for 6 hours. I work on Mondays. One thing I have learned from doing so many podcasts... everyone loves the sound of their own voice. The guys get so anxious to get their talking points in that you have to keep em in check.

Most people really don't understand this, I use to host a show that at times had a panel of 7-8 people it could easily get out of control if you don't keep everyone in line as much as possible and that was in person over skype it has to be nearly unbearable. I'm actually surprised you don't cuss people out more often or just kick people off the call which I don't think you've every done that which makes you a saint in my book

I am all for constructive criticism and feedback and have been since we started this all back in 2011 but I don't think many realize just how difficult some of this can be and how much time and effort goes into the prep, production and execution. Especially when it comes to live reaction shows. Everyone wants to hear them the next day (which makes sense) but with that is always going to come some sacrifice in quality at some point unless it is a full time job (hint, it isn't). I shared this same sentiment with Steve Rogers today elsewhere... it is a free site that gives off nearly 100s of hours a month of audio at a pretty damn high rate of quality. That should never serve as an excuse because we strive for perfection and welcome the feedback, but it also something for listeners and fans to keep in mind when it comes to quibbles like this or the show being in separate audio channels for half a day until it gets fixed. Something as simple as sharing the concerns in a PM vs. posting a GOTCHA comment is also appreciated too considering how much volume is produced (not necessarily this one, but others...) We love our fans and listeners and honestly without it all this would be pointless, but it can be a two way street of respect as well. JerryvonKramer
It took us over two years to get the time of Titans down to 2 hours as opposed to 3 hours. That's a 4-man show with the same crew every time watching 30+ year old footage that no one gives a shit about. Will has a rotating crew of 4+ watching something that has just happened that everyone has a view on. In many ways, it is the toughest hosting gig of any show. He has every sympathy from me and I don't know who else would be able to keep things moving like he does.

And obviously on the night before the start of a scholastic work week. Never mind talking about something that is wearing him down on a seemingly monthly basis with how bad the overall product has gotten, I'd imagine he'd rather trade podcasts with you at this point! =
Woof
Request: can we maybe not spoil several weeks of NXT (or whatever) going forward for those of us who wish to just watch the shows as they happen and occasionally be surprised? I tune into the podcast to have the current show recapped and talked about, because you guys are a lot of fun and it enhances my enjoyment of what I watch (particularly since I like to re-watch the show after listening to the podcast). It's hard enough avoiding "AUSTIN ARIES SIGNED WITH WWE" spoilers as it is, because I can't avoid the world at large, but knowing how and when he debuts (and under what name) really takes what remaining fun out of it there might be. Thanks.

Matt D
Yeah, right now they're advertising Reigns vs Sheamus, Styles, a Highlight Reel, and potentially Brock vs Harper (though that's a little unclear, so don't get excited.) First Toronto special event in a decade. Smaller arena too, so crowd should be insane. Matt there is a rumour it's Brock vs Harper????? ?Holy shit!
