NWA World Tag Team Championship Match

Jack & Gerry Brisco vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Jay Youngblood

Starrcade November 24, 1983

That's been out there forever. Would rather see other matches in the feud. The stuff in the studio was great, even better than the Starcade match.

NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs “Nature Boy” Ric Flair

Boogie Jam March 17, 1984

(Commentary by: Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Matt Striker)

??? What's this???

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Cowboy Bob Orton

Capital Centre July 20, 1985

Lumberjack Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. The Magnificent Don Muraco

Maple Leaf Gardens September 22, 1985

Ugh. I really didn't think the Orton match was all that great, and I've yet to see a watchable Steamer-Muraco match.

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Jake “The Snake” Roberts

Boston Garden August 9, 1986

Looks like they got the right one.

Intercontinental Championship Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Randy “Macho Man” Savage

WrestleMania III March 29, 1987

(Alternate Commentary by: Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Matt Striker)

Sort of has to be on there, but it's been out there forever.

2 out of 3 Falls Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. “Nature Boy” Ric Flair

Clash of the Champions VI April 2, 1989

That eats up a lot of space. Don't know why they don't go with him winning the title.

United States Championship Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Lex Luger

The Great American Bash July 23, 1989

WCW World Tag Team Championship Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat & Dustin Rhodes vs. Arn Anderson & Larry Zbyzsko

Clash of the Champions XVII November 19, 1991

These work, even if they've been out there.

Iron Man Challenge Match

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Rick Rude

Beach Blast June 20, 1992

Recall that being watchable.

No Disqualification Match for the WCW World Television Championship

Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat vs. Steve Austin

Clash of the Champions XX September 2, 1992

(Alternate Commentary by: Ricky Steamboat & Matt Striker)

Was this the best match they could get with Rick on one side and Austin on the other, setting aside Wargames? I guess the title change makes sense.

Maybe a little too predictable with the exception of his winning the World Title not being on here. Since this is his first DVD set with the bio, that does make a lot of sense. But if they'd gone to the World Title Change, they would have given themselves another 30+ minutes to play with to put more stuff in. :/

The Boogie Jam match is indeed the one I've been begging for. 60 minute draw babyface match that's never been available before. Only the last few minutes aired on TV.

I like the Orton match, and it's kind of an interesting choice as it's the only match that doesn't seem like an obvious pick in some form (major match or part of a major feud).

The best Jake match being included is a really pleasant surprise. The match from The Big Event would've fit their habits better.

If they had to recycle an '89 Flair match, Chicago would've been a better choice, being the title win, and shorter (allowing room for another match) with a nice pace. Representing the Flair feud with a 60 minute draw and a 55 minute match feels like a bad idea. Haven't they avoided recycling the WM12 main event for similar reasons?

Austin-wise, I'd prefer the US Title switch, but they may have avoided it since it was on the last Austin set and it's not as must-include like WM3 or something with Flair from '89.

Disc one not having any matches is really sucky.

Then you need to watch more Muraco-Steamboat matches because they are awesome. One of the best series of matches the WWF did during the 80's. I've never seen this particular match, but the rest of the series is so strong I can't imagine this not being really good. Especially when the prior month's MLG match being really good.

I talked about these ones:

11/09/85 Don Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat (15:35)

Taped: Boston Garden

Aired: 11/09/85 NESN

11/22/85 Don Muraco & Mr. Fuji vs. Ricky Steamboat & Tito Santana (12:39)

Taped: The Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA

Aired: 11/22/85 PRISM Network

http://www.otherarena.com/phpbb/viewtopic....c&start=295

11/25/85 Don Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat (16:38)

Taped: Madison Square Garden, New York

Aired: 11/25/85 MSG Network

http://www.otherarena.com/phpbb/viewtopic....c&start=296

12/07/85 Don Muraco vs. Ricky Steamboat (8:33)

Taped: The Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA

Aired: 12/07/85 PRISM Network

Watched more of them, but they all were weak for reasons I went into in those four posts and didn't want to run the points into the ground by writing up more.

If you want to point me to the three Very Best Steamer-Muraco matches, I'll track them down and give them a fling if I haven't watched them before. But I've seen Steamer in a lot of great matches, and even just solid watchable matches. And I've seen Muraco in classics with Backlund. What I've seen of their feud not only isn't good, but it's wildly disappointing. It's no Tito-Valentine or Tito-Savage feud.

Like I said, let me know what your three best are, and I'll look at them when picking the WWF thread back up. Always looking for inspiration to start watching again, and I've a load of other WWF stuff laying around to get to.

I'd have to go back and re-watch some stuff, but I remember really liking all of them. I forget which Judo (Martial Arts) match I liked the best. I think its the one where Muraco gets pissed that Steamboat takes the white coat, leaving Muraco to take the black one. Not the MSG one, but they had many and I forgot which.

I believe the other one that really stood out was a Toronto match (I believe) that was very bloody. I haven't watched the whole series in years though.

It may be my major Muraco-markdom that over-rates those matches, but I do love the bloody slow hatred matches that they had.

A TNA champion arrested in shocker

Scott Hall was arrested last week on charges of disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest according to an article in today's Orlando Sentinel.

The Seminole County Sheriff's office was called at 1:43 a.m. late Thursday night, before the weekend Sacrifice PPV, with a call saying there was a disturbance at the Hitching Post Bar in Chuluota, FL, where Hall has been living for many years.

When a deputy arrived, he found a bartender telling Hall to please leave the bar, but Hall yelled and cursed at the bartender and other patrons according to the police report. The report also said Hall appeared intoxicated, was slurring his speecha nd his eyes were bloodshot.

When Hall was told he was being placed in custody for intoxication, Hall resisted and swore at the officer, but the deputy managed to get handcuffs on him, although he used two handcuffs due to Hall's size, and Hall was taken out in the patrol car.

The bartender told the deputy Hall was drinking heavily and became aggressive, pushed a customer, argued with a female bartender and called her names. The bartender got Hall a ride home, but he punched the window of the car and shoved two women near the car.

Hall was told never to return to the bar. When Hall was booked, he claimed he was unemployed.

That last sentence is kind of funny when you think of it.

Guest Talon

kind of funny that Ashton Kutcher & Bradley Cooper agreed to be hosts on RAW since in some circles they'd be considered A-List stars

But I thought drugs were something only old-timers did? How can Carlito have wellness issues when he just plays video games and surfs the Internet in his hotel room after shows?

Probably has nothing to do with Linda's nomination either.

Or it is all a Drewesque work and he'll be in the SES by the end of next month.
