Brian Pillman Jr. is now - ugh - Lexis King.

It's named after his late sister and mother, so it's meaningful to him, but still...

In a way, it's just way too hard to be named after your father when he was as great as Pillman. Especially when you're... not that good... But yeah, in term of pure marketing, this definitely looks like he's gonna be a case of Curtis Axel.

Looking forward to him tweeting that the name was his idea. Which, even if true, isn't quite the flex they seem to think it is. "I'll have you know that I came up with this dumbass name ON MY OWN."

Really, though, people make ring names out to be a bigger deal than they really are. It's fun to laugh at the stupid ones, but after a while they stop being dumb names and just become names. We all got used to saying Dolph Ziggler without batting an eye, so the sky's the limit. If anything, having a famous name to live up to is more trouble than it's worth if you're not good enough. It's not like Joe Hennig's career arc would have differed significantly if he had been billed under his real name.

I mean... Hunter Hearst Helmsley. Then know as Triple H aka "the Game"...

As far as nepokids go, Dominik Misterio is one hell of a dumb name. People realize that Rey Misterio means "King Mystery" right ? Misterio IS NOT A LAST NAME !

Ring names don't really matter.

Respectfully disagree.

DICK BLOOD on the marquee is worse than RICKY STEAMBOAT. Sterling Golden is worse than Hulk Hogan. Andre the Giant is better than Jean Ferre. There'd be thousands of examples.

In other news, the other half of TKO is having its first show in Saudi Arabia. Congrats to more bloodmoney for this wonderful, wholesome company run by Dana White and Vince McMahon.

Also, apparently WWE said no to Punk. I kinda hope he does show up at Bound for Glory now...

I'm wondering if CM Punk, he of the pro trans rights and reproductive rights t shirts,  would be petty enough at AEW to sign with the company who does annual blood money shows.

Also I'm sure WWE did the math after seeing the last couple years-long trainwreck, and decided whatever money they would make with him wasn't worth all the additional headache and bullshit that goes along with it.

C'mon, you actually don't believe what Meltzer & SRS are reporting, right? They're clearly are getting worked and are too proud to admit it.

It's the same exact pattern we've seen with Bray & Cody. And look what happened.

Why not, they are still way more reliable than most twitter and reddit "insiders". I also don't care one way or another about whether they end up being worked or not and I just don't give a flying fuck whether Punks ends up in WWE or not. If he does, then I'll laugh my ass off at his complete and utter hypocrisy for a minute or two and move on.

Meanwhile, I appreciate the irony of Nick Aldis being brought in as an authority figure. Even WWE recognizes that although the guy is a really good promo in the right setting, he's also boring as fuck all as a worker. I for one am glad he hasn't showed up in any show I actively watch, apart from that super short stint in IMPACT where Alex Shelley carried his boring-ass to a legit excellent match.

Bill Simmons was crowing again about the Netflix doc, so I guess that’s still on the table for release at some point. I figured the footage would have been erased or something after its cancellation was announced. I won’t believe it until I see a trailer, but good on him for still trying to will it into existence.

I'm still hoping Vince has secretly written his memoirs.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, Vince said that Saudi Arabia was "their home now" at the latest UFC clown show. At least that's pretty blunt. With Roman being at the next bloodmoney show and not Survivor Series, which is still one of the big 4, how long before they book either a Rumble, SummerSlam or even Mania in Saudi ?

Also, with MBS getting the World Cup in 2034 (omegalul, as they say), which is the biggest worldwide sports event (and corruption, and sex trafficking, and slavery, and such), is there gonna be a point where WWE doesn't feel essential at all anymore and he eventually drops it because there's no need for it when he can get much much bigger, mainstream events ?
