Not sure how AEW letting Cody go was a mistake, they have a million top  level guys and Cody's act plays better in WWE anyway. It's a win all around.

Cody thinks of the big picture - buying up trademarks, etc. - and has contacts outside the business that are invaluable for a startup seeking continued consistent growth. He's also, easily, by far, the most knowledgeable and creative of the EVPs. Kenny and Bucks may be "more exciting" in the ring, but Cody has the best creative wrestling mind of the bunch.

Tony Khan's excuse that AEW doesn't need Cody because All Out was fine without him is particularly boneheaded. You know who else wasn't there? The current World Champion "Hangman" Adam Page, and no one is going to argue that AEW would be "fine" without him.

Anyway, Cody says it was a personal matter that led to his departure - whatever that means.

A creative mind that comes up with things like tone deaf jingoistic angles and cosplaying his dad's gimmick matches. I think AEW can somehow carry on without him. That's part of the reason I think WWE is better for him since Vince will probably reign in his more ridiculous bullshit.

Cody's ideas were so bad that he got cordoned off into his own little universe and the fan base that loved him previously completely turned on him. In his own damn company. AEW will be completely fine without him, both on screen and off. Cody isn't make or break for any company for any reason.

I agree with you but it's WWE he could easily end up like Bret in WCW where he's one or the top paid guys  but not books as though he is such. Reading that variety article,  he knows his worth and he came in on his own terms. It's WWE,  its an uphill battle to keep Vinces attention. Unless your Brock, Roman, Ronda ,Becky or Charlotte you'll have and uphill battle staying at the top of WWEs priority list. He's a much bigger star and a better wrestler than when he left and he grabbed the brass ring although he had to leave the company to do so. It's so difficult to make yourself a star in WWE on your own and he did it

I mean, if he ends up at the Seth/KO/etc. spot where you're Roman or Brock, but you're still right below them, is that worse than he was going to end up in AEW w/ the Elite, the Undisputed Era, Pink, Danielson, etc.? Plus, if you're not going to have creative control, better to be told no by Vince McMahon than by the rich kid you likely think you brought into things in the first place?
