Jimmy Redman Posted August 31, 2022 Report Share Posted August 31, 2022 It feels like they've kind of booked themselves into a corner here, because Drew coming home to the first UK PPV in a generation to challenge for the title in front of a giant hometown stadium crowd... he needs to win. But it also doesn't feel like they want Roman to lose. I would infinitely prefer them to just have Drew win on the day and then come up with some bullshit later ("oh it was only for the WWE Title", or whichever one he hasn't held for 2 years) or just have Roman win it straight back or something. Fine, he's Lex Luger. Instead of what I imagine they'll do, which is just have Kross interfere and Roman retains. Which would be AWFUL, for the crowd, for the moment. And awful for Drew as a babyface. If he can't get it done here, I feel like that damages him as a top face in a way that few wins or losses could do in WWE anymore. Also this is my first time seeing him in ring and he's now my favorite wrestler in NXT. Very similar to Bryan Danielson (which makes sense of course) and I want to see him in the BCC asap. The idea that there's a collective mind just reminds me of "The IWC" nonsense that's thankfully gone. I'm positive that there was an enormous backlash of racist/ misogynistic shit either up front or "hidden" in complaints about work rate or experience. I dug the finish because the match had something we haven't seen in WWE and wrestling pretty much in general, all the babyfaces sticking together. I haven't seen the Twitter shit either because my Twitter feed is curated so I don't see those assholes, WWE or AEW obsessive tribal weirdos, or lots of other morons. She is very clearly talking of sexual abuse in the last video she posted. Of course the reactions are the expected ones (people always want a "perfect victim"). I wonder if any of this will have any effect, but really now, sure the lawsuit was dropped (secret settlement ? We never knew for sure), but everybody knows this doesn't actually mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Also, the last time I remember the locker room being united against a perceived slight was the Dave Meltzer/Peyton Royce situation, which was a huge embarrassment for everyone involved. As for Drew, let him have his Lex Luger moment and win the title in Cardiff before dropping it back in a week or two. Roman has been rolling over everyone for long enough. Right now I think they’re operating on the assumption that since the original accuser has disappeared from the internet, it may have just been a bogus headline grab in the midst of all the #SpeakingOut stuff, but if that was legit and the person just dropped it because it wasn’t worth it to her to pursue it, there’s pretty much guaranteed to be more out there.
