AEW TV 11/29 - 12/1 Danielson vs Kingston II and MJF is injured

Continental Classic matchups for this week:

Dynamite:

  • Mark Briscoe vs. RUSH
  • Jon Moxley vs. Jay Lethal
  • Swerve Strickland vs. Jay White

Collision

  • Bryan Danielson vs. Eddie Kingston
  • Andrade El Idolo vs. Daniel Garcia
  • Claudio Castagnoli vs Brody King

Also, it was confirmed MJF injured his shoulder but will still defend the belt at World's End. Considering the amount of steroids the dude is using it's kind of a miracle he hasn't completely torn a muscle. Just put the belt on Joe.

Was any reason given for not having Claudio v Brody King on Collision?

It's a six week tournament including the week of World's End, so my initial guess was that they're building in a "bye" for two competitors every week (e.g. Danielson and Andrade last week, Claudio and Brody this week)...but I'm not sure the math works out on that. Have they published a complete schedule yet?

The site I got the info from had it wrong, Claudio and Brody IS booked for Collision (had to check a Twitter video from AEW to confirm, lol). Only Danielson and Andrade should be doing double duty in the coming weeks to catch up with the rest.

They are doing semi finals on Dec 27th so everything has to be settled by Coliision on Dec. 23rd.

It just occurred to me that in two weeks, there's that Final Battle thingy, strictly on Honor Club. Nothing on the card yet. The ROH title is basically vacated and gonna be part of the Triple Crown. The Tag champs are MJF and Adam Cole, so let's say this is dead in the water. The TV title has been vacated. The 6-men are with Gates of Agony again, and the Pure title has gone back to Yuta since Shibata had to go back to Japan (maybe due to visa issue).

Yeah, maybe it's time to wrap it up. Have Athena, who's been carrying this whole thing since day one anyway, main event against whomever they can dig up (and really I have no idea who that she has not already beat, and it's way too soon to have the break up with Billie), have her give a big speech afterward about how she carried this mofo, and is now relinquishing the ROH women title and challenges for Toni Storm at World's End (and wins, because as much as I like Toni Storm's goofy character, I'm not sure this is good for the World Title scene, and Athena is the best women performer they have and one of the best period in the company, there's no reason why she isn't all over Dynamite and Collision and PPV's). And let's end this ROH nonsense and refocus. Get the best of those on Rampage as a cool little C-show, and get done with it.

Every Khan ROH PPV has been like this and every one has been great. The less the build the more random ZSJ or Jeff Cobb appearances we get.

from tonight's episode

Spoiler

they did indeed go with the break up and made Athena vs Billie official for Final Battle.

Dalton Castle and Komander advanced to the TV title Survival of the Fittest match.

I think they added Ethan Page vs. Tony Nese with Mark Sterling handcuffed to the ringpost.

2 weeks away and it's slowly coming together!

It’s been a solid, well-built feud with good matches week to week and a feel good Serpentico win. Woods’ development getting sidetracked for it was a shame and there needs a better payoff gimmick than that but the show has been stronger for it.

Billie vs Athena is three months too soon and without Athena really snapping and doing something vile but better too soon than too late, I guess.

The Copeland-Christian segment was really good. I continue to remain conflicted about Copeland being in AEW.

Apparently Flair invited women between the ages 18-28 to his hotel room. I would have considered this to be weird and creepy as far back as 1993, and this is 30 years later. This is on AEW and Tony Khan, tbh. Not to excuse him at all, but everyone who knows Flair knows this is who and how he is, this is how he would behave, this is the promo he would cut, he has been saying this since like 1976. You knew what you were getting into. You were just desperate for a ratings bump.

Swerve and Starks both need to be world champs by the end of 2024. They have been asked to step up this year, and they have done so spectacularly. Just compare how they stepped up their game when asked to be big boys to how badly Sammy fizzled and tanked when asked the same (let us not even mention Brian Pillman Jr.).

The same. Both. Although that says a lot when I have enjoyed Copeland's last two bits (the promo on Collision and now this entire angle, although obviously Cage was terrific too) and am actually sold on their match now, considering how much I disliked pretty much everything that led to it previously. Having in it happen in WWE territory (Montreal) is smart too.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Copeland fits once the entire WWE-angle-that-never-took-place thingy is done. That's where the "jury's still out" part comes in.

Well, that's true. And I guess them not going FOREVER before triggering Billie vs Athena is ok after all, considering some of the track record. Still, I do thing this is too early.

Dynamite was excellent. That is all.

At least they heard the backlash. There's a super obvious edit in the middle of Flair's promo. Kinda sucks that Sting's retirement tour is being stained by horny grandpa.

Sometimes, the pleasure of watching pro-wrestling comes from the smallest things. During the 8-men between Dark Order & 2.0 and the Best Friend Extended, which is absolutely a match that happened, Danhausen at one point gets the purple hat from his tights and puts it on his head, and Wheeler Yuta on commentary goes "Come on, a foreign object !". Beautiful.

Look, I know the line between Ric and Richard is pretty much non-existent, but I do not believe 76 year old Ric Flair was actually soliciting 18-28 year olds to come back to his hotel. If we're talking about embarrassing and offensive things being said on AEW TV, that doesn't hold a candle to a dozen different things MJF has said.

You're missing the point. MJF has not been accused of sexual assault in a documentary (and let's be real for a second now, that's not the only thing Flair has been accused of). Which of course means that Flair should not be on TV anyway, but him dropping that line, with no context of him being a performer anyway (not that it would make it less gross, let's be real) apart from just being side to side with Sting during his retirement tour, makes it a thousand times worse than anything that's been said in the context of fictional characters having issues with each others and talking shit about it.
